"Assisted Living Facility Review: Mixed Experience, Potential for Improvement"
My family member moved in and an awesome worker, , was really nice and respectful. But when she went on leave for having a baby, it got harder to talk with the other staff. We asked for things to be fixed, but they didn’t get to it for a whole month. Also, the rooms are too hot and we can't make them cooler. We saw cockroaches in the hallway, which was gross. Seems like some staff have changed recently. They say they might get better at fixing stuff. The place is looking for more maintenance workers.

"Mixed Experience, Great Staff"
The windows need replacing badly, and the hallways and resident doors need immediate painting. The halls smell awful. Despite this, it's not a bad community overall, but for the price they're paying, these issues should be addressed promptly. [Name removed] at the front desk is amazing; she made moving so easy. The laundry rooms in the basement look a little scary, but the activities are good. Unfortunately, my mom doesn't receive care here—just food occasionally, which is great. I appreciate the on-site grocery store and doctor's office/pharmacy.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility Under New Management"
My mom moved in a few months before new owners took over, and everything was good. That's why we picked it. But after the new company took charge, things started getting worse. We had a set move-out date, but LIV charged us for the whole month, saying they couldn't prorate. I've left lots of messages, emails, and calls, but even after more than 2 months, I haven't got my refund or a clear answer. When I finally talk to someone, they're not very friendly or helpful. If you're not a new resident, you won't get much service, whether it's customer service or any other help you need. This place used to be nice for over 50 years until this new company came along. Now, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Good luck if you choose this place.

"Improvements Needed at Legacy Assisted Living Facility"
My experience with Legacy at Imperial Village has been okay. There are a few things that need to get better. Firstly, the elevator hasn't been working since May. That's a long time! It's not safe and could be a problem for some residents. Also, there are some safety issues around the place. That's concerning. Another thing is that they tell you one price but end up charging a different price. That's not fair. Overall, they need to fix these issues to make it better for everyone.

"Golden Years Struggles"
I've lived here for 6 years, but things have gotten worse in the last 2 years. The washers and dryers took forever to replace, and now we have to pay to use them. Elevators in two buildings are broken, and there's no service when someone moves in or out. The kitchen has been closed for almost 2 months. Squatters and homeless people hang around. Roaches are somewhat controlled, but bedbugs are still a problem. Security was removed recently, and there are druggies and drunks everywhere. The owners call it 'Low income,' which is true since they took over. Trash piles up on weekends. The Tenants' Association delivers USPS packages because management stopped doing it, and thefts and assaults happen. Welcome to our golden years—if you have another choice, take it!

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Improvement in Activities and Amenities"
The workers are okay. They got a new cook, but I make my own food. I wish there were more things to do, and they should go to the store more often. Also, it would be good to have a pharmacy here. Make sure to ask for everything in writing before you come. They are getting better.

"Doors Unfixed: Safety Concerns at Assisted Living Facility"
Hey, they really need to step up their game at that place. I visit a lot, and there are things that need cleaning up for the seniors who live there. My dad pays a good amount to stay there, but the doors aren't fixed. I've heard residents say the door has been broken for over a year. That's not okay—it's a safety issue for anyone walking in at night.

"Nice community with beautiful facilities, but meal service needs improvement"
Legacy at Imperial Village is a really nice place. It’s beautiful, and the staff who give out medicine in the mornings and evenings do a great job. The value is good, and we’d recommend it to other families. The only complaint from our loved one is about the meals. Sometimes the menu doesn’t match what’s available, and there’s a long wait to place an order.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
My family member told me that the food they show in the brochure isn't served to the residents. The bus used to run every day for transportation, but now they can't find a driver. This could mean they'll have to stop the service, which makes it tough for non-drivers to get to the doctor or stores. I think there's supposed to be a laundry room in each building, but there are only two washers and dryers working, which isn't enough for everyone. Despite these issues, my loved one likes their apartment.

"Great experience; wish there were closer facilities available"
I think it was a great experience for my mother-in-law. She is still there and happy. The only thing that could improve is having more facilities to choose from. We had to choose one about 45 minutes away because there weren’t many options close by. That was the only downside.

I think the management could improve how they take care of the grounds, which is my main issue. The restaurant could also be better, as the food variety and service aren't the best. "Adequate Facility, But Maintenance and Respect Lacking"
My mom has been living here for over a year and a half. At first, everything seemed fine, just the normal small problems you'd expect in a place like this. But things have really gone downhill since new management took over in early 2021. The buildings and their equipment are pretty old. To draw in new people, they're focusing on making the place look nice—fresh paint and pretty floors—instead of fixing important stuff like leaky pipes and the air conditioning that only works sometimes. And if something breaks on the weekend, nothing gets done until Monday. Whenever we ask for help with anything, the way they talk to us is basically, "That's just the way it is, like it or not," without any care for the older folks living here. We've even had to pay for a handyman ourselves to fix things that should be included in what we pay for rent, because waiting for their maintenance team to even check it out takes forever. Sure, it's not too expensive, and my mom really likes her friends here. But honestly, if it were up to me, I'd have her move somewhere else. It's just not worth the stress of dealing with all these problems and feeling like my mom doesn't matter to them.

"Decent Assisted Living Facility with Friendly Staff and Convenient Services"
This assisted living place is pretty cool, with nice folks who care a lot. But I wasn't so sure about the memory care area being on the 6th floor and the bathrooms are kinda small. And, yeah, there was an issue at some point about folks trying to sneak out by the elevator. Walking down the hall felt a bit like being in an old motel, kinda narrow. But it was neat to see little showboxes outside each room for folks to put up family pictures. Some folks share rooms, others have their own. They even have a little mall with a bank, grocery store, library, and pharmacy. There's always some kind of medical professional on hand. Plus, it's super close to where I live.

"Money-Grubbing Facility Deteriorates, Ignores Health Hazards and Conveniences"
This facility used to be somewhat adequate, but it's now laughable. They incessantly hike the rent by $100 every year. The carpets lack padding, and on a sweltering 83-degree day near the end of March, the place was stifling due to a non-functioning air conditioning system. This is especially problematic for older folks with breathing difficulties. The staff just shrugs it off. Constant issues plague the elevators and AC units. We don't even know if the deteriorating insulation on the ground floor's water pipes is asbestos-riddled. It's not worth the exorbitant costs they siphon from the elderly's savings. Plus, the once handy in-house pharmacy - saving residents from running around for their meds - was axed by their clueless corporate heads. They claim to care but don't be fooled - their only concern is fattening their wallets. This appraisal was written in March 2018.

"Nice Folks, but Facility Needs Renovations"
Most folks at Brookdale Imperial Plaza were kind and friendly. However, the place really needed some fixing and upgrading. The folks were amazing, don't get me wrong. The eating area was pretty neat. My mom's room seemed to only be for short-term stays and it was a gloomy place to be in. The restroom was even missing a door. She couldn't join any fun activities because she was recovering. The dull-looking walls didn't help with feeling relaxed or cheerful. My mom stayed until I was able to move her to another place.

"Great choice for a smooth transition and nearby amenities"
I initially thought I was calling Brookdale directly but was connected to A Place For Mom instead. At first, I wasn’t thrilled, but later I realized they were a big help. My parents are moving from Florida, so finding the right place was really time-consuming. Traveling between locations was a hassle, especially when they didn’t meet our needs. The service from A Place For Mom helped us narrow it down to three good options. This saved a lot of time and effort for both me and my parents, which was crucial during their visit. They chose Brookdale for many reasons: no big upfront fees, no need to go outside unless they want to, and everything they might need is right there. There are restaurants, stores, doctors, a bank, a salon, and more. The staff at Brookdale are excellent, and they address every concern. My parents are moving in on April 1st, and I’m really happy they’ll be close to more family.

"Brookdale Plaze Needs Better Communication and Organization"
Brookdale Imperial Plaza seems a bit messy and their communication could be better. My mother-in-law is staying temporarily. We had plans to move her into the independent living area, but on the day of the move, they told us she needed to stay in assisted living. They also said she can't move until she's had a mental health check. It feels like they're not really sure what they're doing. "Brookdale Plaza: Discomfort and Discourtesy Pervasively Experienced"
Brookdale Imperial Plaza has proven to be a challenge to live in. I was guaranteed control of my air and heat, but instead, management decides when to switch on or off the AC. My room has constantly felt like a sauna. They claimed transportation within a five-mile radius is free; it's actually $12 round trip. The transportation head, was rude. I made a simple inquiry about a farmers market, and got a long rant about being understaffed. I requested an extra hour at Willow Lawn and he told me to take a cab if I didn't like his rules. This was shocking. I confronted him and he said he was tired of complaints. But I wasn't complaining, just asking. I believe an apology is in order. Other residents also convey dissatisfaction. The choices of shops and stores seems beyond our control.

"Great Value and Friendly Community with Many Services"
My brother and I researched a lot to find a great place for our mom where she could stay comfortably and enjoy activities with people her own age. When we first visited, we were really impressed by how friendly everyone was, including both staff and residents. The grounds are kept in perfect condition, and the gated community was a big plus for us. We also found it to be a great value for the money. Although it isn’t brand new, everything is clean and updated. One good thing about the older buildings is that the apartments are usually bigger than in many other places. They offer many extra services, but since the rent is affordable, we could also get Mom cleaning services and other amenities we hadn’t thought of before. There are three restaurants, ranging from a nice dining experience to a casual pub. There’s also a doctor, convenience store, pharmacy, hair salon, and Towne Bank. Plus, there are breezeways that connect everything, so you can go from place to place without going outside in bad weather. This is a huge, self-contained complex. Mom isn’t moving in for a couple of weeks, but we’re already very impressed. I’ll update this review once she’s settled in.

They've been easy to work with and really welcoming to my Mom. We're happy we made this choice. My Mom's apartment in Boxwood is very cute, and the staff is delightful.

"Excellent Care and Great Services for Seniors"
I moved my 88-year-old mom in with me in 2006. Now that I’m selling my house, I was worried about where she would live comfortably. At first, I thought Imperial Plaza was too expensive, but now I wish I had moved her there back in 2006. I’m hopeful she will enjoy a few more years here, making friends and enjoying all the activities. They offer many services, and the food in the restaurant is amazing. You have to try the Carrot Souffle! I feel at ease knowing my mom is in good hands.

"Very pleased with helpful staff and affordable, clean facility"
Everything went well. The staff was kind, courteous, and helpful. They answered all our questions, even ones we didn’t know we had. The facility is clean and has many activities. One problem is that you have to go through the laundry area to get to your room from the grocery store or anywhere else. The food was good, and it was one of the most affordable places we saw. We are very pleased with them.

"Communication and Organization Lacking but Good Facilities, Food"
This place has some serious issues with communication. When we were moving my grandma in, it felt like a never-ending loop of phone calls and emails, just trying to get some straight answers. Once we got there, it felt like everyone was just passing the buck, and nobody could clearly tell us what was going on. There were jobs that we had specifically asked to be taken care of, but we ended up handling them ourselves. Each time something actually did get done, there was no follow-up. But despite these issues, we liked the place. My grandma had access to a lot of things, and all the stuff she needed was nearby. The trouble started after we made payment. Despite their promises, it took a really long time to deliver on what they had told us. And the activities? To stay updated, I had to hunt down a calendar. There's not just one place for activities, but spread out everywhere. The food’s pretty good, though.

"Knowledgeable staff, clean facility, good food, and helpful planning"
The community is clean, and the staff is friendly. They respond well to needs and requests. It would help if they provided a long-term view on paying for assisted living, including a worst-case scenario, so families can plan better financially. They are knowledgeable about Alzheimer’s, and I like that the medical staff is employed directly by Imperial, not an outside agency. The meals offer many choices, and the food is pretty good.

"Facility with plenty, but too far; mixed preference for living."
I went to this place. It's pretty big and has lots of stuff. I preferred the part where people can do things on their own more than the part where they need more help, but I don't think my mom could handle living by herself there. It might be too confusing for her. The people who work there were really nice. It's just farther away than I wanted it to be.

"Lots of Activities and Good Food!"
My mom used to live here, and I was happy with it. She was in the independent living section, which was pretty good. There were lots of activities, even though she didn't join in much. They had a free bus system for residents, took trips for lunch and vacations, and played bingo. They really had it all! My mom had just moved in, so she was a bit upset and didn’t get involved much. But she did say the food was good.

"Nice but Not Meeting Our Needs"
My dad stayed here for around two months, but we had to move him out due to behavior problems. The community is quite big, and they don't provide meals. We ended up signing my dad up for meals on wheels. It was pleasant, but it didn't meet my dad's needs.

"Imperial Plaza: Great Food, Overwhelmingly Large Campus"
Imperial Plaza offers top-notch meal options and dining areas. However, their property was too large and intense for my mom.

"Extra monitoring required for assisted living staff."
My mom was in one of the apartments and got company from the facility workers, which cost extra. She stayed there for around two to two and a half years. It was alright, but I feel like they could improve how they manage their staff, especially those who keep her company. We had issues with her medication and occasionally person who supposed to show up on time, didn't. You had to keep a close eye on everything.

This place is kind of so-so. The cost is good, but the place itself is just okay.

"Safe and cozy place to consider"
This place is a good choice if you're looking for somewhere safe and cozy for your loved ones. Staff are friendly and seem to genuinely care about the residents. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and there are plenty of activities to keep residents engaged. The only downside is that the dining options could be improved, but overall, it's definitely worth considering.

"Budget-friendly and impressive assisted living with lovely campus"
This place has tall buildings that look a bit old, but the area around them is beautiful and the people living here seem nice! You can find everything you need here without having to go outside. The person in charge was really helpful and told us a lot of useful information. The rooms are good and not too small. It's not too expensive and fits our budget well. There are lots of people living here, almost 1,000!

"Warm Welcome and Personalized Services Shine at Assisted Living Facility"
During our visit, the Director was really kind and helpful. Mom and I felt comfortable asking questions. Right now, Mom likes this place the best for a few reasons. She enjoys how it feels like a little community here. They have lots of services available, like a pharmacy, nurses, doctors, a bank, and a convenience store. Almost everyone we met said hello and made Mom feel welcome. She hasn't even moved in yet! Page treated us to dinner, and Mom loved it. The staff were friendly, and there was so much food she took some home. Even at dinner, people were friendly and hoped Mom would join them. This place lets Mom choose the services she wants, which she likes. Overall, she left feeling like she could make friends here. Plus, it fits within her budget. The only downside is that it's the oldest facility we visited, but it's well-maintained.
