"Friendly Act Drops After Signing Up"
They only act nice until you've signed up. I wouldn't suggest using them.

"Memory care unit inadequate, staff intolerant; facility not recommended."
My brother stayed in the memory care part. If he stayed quiet and didn't make trouble, the workers were okay with him. But when they wanted to make him leave, I learned he was too much of a problem. Even though they said they could manage his condition, I was disappointed. I wouldn't tell anyone to go to this place for memory care.

"Underwhelming Assisted Living Facility Experience"
The visit was disappointing. We arrived for the tour, but no one was there to guide us. A random person finally stepped up. They promised to call us after the tour, but it took them three weeks to do so. It seemed like they didn't have enough staff. The place smelled and felt like a nursing home. I wouldn't suggest this facility to anyone based on our visit.

"Disappointed with Mom’s Assisted Living, Unhappy with Charter’s Management."
My mom moved in, but ever since Charter took over, the place has gone downhill. It's not as clean as before and getting in touch with the director is now a chore. I visited and the smell of urine on the 2nd floor made me gag. I saw inside some of the residents' rooms and was shocked at how dirty they were. I can't say I'd give them a good rating. Some nurses do care a lot, but the upper management is tough to reach when you have complaints. I'm really not pleased with how they're taking care of my mom right now!

"Assisted Living Tour Impressed, Opted for Nearby Location Due to Availability"
I visited Charter Senior Living of Newport News. We wanted to move there, but no rooms were open. They offer PACE, so if money ran out, we had a backup. Instead of Medicaid, we sought long-term care solutions. Since Newport News was full, we chose Charter Senior Living in Williamsburg.

"Spacious Facility Concerns Families Despite Good Tour Experience"
We had a really good tour at Charter Senior Living of Newport News. The only downside was the size of the place; we thought it was too large and that our loved one might get lost.

"Improvement needed in resident engagement and management communication."
Since the change in ownership, things are a bit disorganized.

"Quiet Courtyard, Limited Residents, Overall Nice Experience"
The tour of the assisted living place was nice. The lady who showed us around was great. They have a pretty courtyard and the rooms for the residents open onto it. However, during our tour, we didn't see many residents out and nobody was using the courtyard. It seemed a bit more sad compared to other places we visited.

"Caring Staff and Personal Attention Make This Place Recommendable"
I visited the place two times before deciding to move my mom in. Each time, I was impressed by the staff. They were very involved with the residents and knew everyone by name. It’s clear that they really care about the people there. I would recommend this place and have already done so.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Our loved one stayed for respite care and the place was always super clean. Everyone was really nice right from the start. Even the cleaning and maintenance people came to say hi. Our loved one can be picky about food, but the meals were mostly great. They had activities for those who wanted them. The only bad part was when we were leaving. The nurse brought us our loved one's medicine to take home. But less than an hour later, they called us. They found another person's medicine in the bag. My husband had to drive back to give it back, but the nurse had already left for the day. Nobody else knew what to do. Later, we found out not all of our loved one's medicine was in the bag either.

"Great Staff and Comfortable Apartments"
The staff has been really nice to our family. We toured other places, but these apartments were the best in size and layout. They had everything our loved one needs at a good price.

"Friendly staff, clean community, needs better communication"
The staff and our family need better communication. I got different answers from different staff members, and they are not always on the same page. The community is neat and clean, and the staff is very friendly. The value is good, and I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

"Top-notch care and friendly staff in clean, cozy environment."
This place is really nice for getting good care. The people who work here are nice and caring. The rooms and outside areas are clean and well taken care of, so you can enjoy being there. They also have things to do for people who like to stay busy. I think this is a good place for others who need good care to come to.

"Advice from recent move-in: Listen, repeat, and take notes."
We had some hiccups moving in, but the staff is amazing! My mom's getting all the help she needs happily. Food's good, with plenty, even snacks. Important: Listen carefully during walkthroughs, repeat back, take notes.

"Lovely facility with a good resident-to-staff ratio."
So far, so good! My Step-Dad moved here from a retirement community because he needed more care. We appreciate the 6 care levels, and an RN assesses which level is necessary. That way, you only pay for the extra services you need. After 30 days, there’s another evaluation to see if adjustments are needed. He’s been here a week and already loves the attention. The food choices seem decent, though not as good as the retirement community. It’ll take time to establish his schedule, but this facility is beautiful, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

"Great senior care with friendly staff and clean rooms"
My mother has been at Morningside since just before Thanksgiving. The care is excellent, and the staff is friendly. The place is very clean and nicely furnished. You can personalize your room with your own furniture and decorations. I recommend Morningside to anyone needing senior care.

"Didn't Like Roommate Arrangement"
My mom didn't like the place. They told her she'd have to share a room with someone else, but she didn't want anyone seeing her change her diapers at night. She wants her own space and independence.
