Paramount Senior Living at Fredericksburg

"Friendly Staff and Helpful Service!"
Certainly! Here's the rewritten review in simpler language: "I like how the staff is friendly and patient. Sometimes it's tough to reach them because they're busy, but they've always come through for us. Make sure to get to know the regular helpers and share your concerns. Remember, there are many residents for each employee. Stay on top of medical questions and procedures—they've been a huge help with that.

"Mixed Experience at Paramount Senior Living"
I live at Paramount Senior Living in Fredericksburg. Overall, it's the best local facility for the price. The staff is limited, but they're doing an excellent job despite that. Housekeeping is top-notch. However, the food quality is lacking, with few fresh fruits and veggies. On the bright side, desserts are quite good. More off-site and in-house activities after dinner would be nice.

"Poor Communication and Management Attitude Ruin Assisted Living Experience"
This place was pretty clean, but the boss didn't tell us everything. I wouldn't tell anyone to come here. They didn't talk enough, and that was the worst part. They should talk more, and the boss should be nicer.

"Needs More Space and Color"
I talked with the Paramount director about some changes, and he agreed. But the place felt too small and like a hospital. Most memory care rooms are shared, and there's no color on the walls or space for residents to move.

"Friendly Director, But Too Large and Busy for Our Loved One"
We visited the facility in person, and the director was really friendly and straightforward with us. But for our loved one, it didn’t feel quite right. It was a big, busy place, and we were looking for something a bit smaller.

"Friendly staff but facility feels too much like a nursing home"
Our family went for a tour and met with a friendly sales team. We saw many rooms and got lots of info. However, we didn’t really like the community. It felt more like a nursing home and not very welcoming.

"Affordable, Friendly, and Clean"
I'd recommend it to other families. It's a small, friendly community that's generally clean. When there were roaches in one of the apartments, they took care of it promptly. The care services are excellent. However, my loved one wishes they had more food options. The small plate portions are okay most of the time. They offer quite a few activities. Overall, Paramount is one of the more affordable places.

"High Deposit Surprises Residents at Assisted Living Facility"
This place was okay, but it looked a bit old because of its age. The physical therapy room was just like any regular room with some exercise equipment. The biggest shocker was the $3,000 deposit, especially when other nicer places only required $500.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
With Covid restrictions easing, we took an on-site tour. The building seemed nice and clean, but lacked the warmth and patient care we sought. It felt too institutional, and the location behind a shopping center wasn't ideal.

"Virtual Tour Was Basic, But Facility Looks Nice Overall"
The virtual tour was pretty basic. We saw a model apartment, both a studio and a one-bedroom, and they looked nice with lots of space. We also saw one of the activity rooms, but we didn’t see the dining area because the residents were eating. We’ve set up an in-person tour to check out the facility more closely. Overall, it looks nice, and the services should meet our needs.

"Price Misunderstanding, COVID Safety Lacking, Food Quality Questionable"
Be careful about the costs; what they told us before wasn't what we paid when we got there. They should work on making visiting safer during COVID. If you're not too picky about food, you might find this place alright.

"Caring Staff, Clean Facility, Few Amenities: Overall Satisfactory Experience"
At Brookdale, the workers are really active in taking care of my family member. They've been super helpful in finding ways to help him. When I visit, I see residents doing some stuff, but there aren't as many cool things to do compared to other places. Still, it's clean, the staff is great, and I like it here.

"Fantastic care and improvement at Brookdale Fredericksburg!"
We visited Brookdale Fredericksburg and were so glad we did. The team was caring and organized, which impressed us more than any special offer they had. My dad even went home to get his checkbook so we could sign the contract right away, since Mom was getting out of rehab. Since moving to Brookdale Fredericksburg, Mom’s health has improved a lot, thanks to their fantastic staff and rehab team.

"Wonderful Community with Great Amenities"
My mom and I are super happy with this place and the staff here. Everyone is friendly and caring, and it feels like home. There are so many cool things for the residents, like a movie theater, a game room with lots of stuff to do, and a cooking club on Sundays for those who love to cook. They even have special events, like an Elvis impersonator! Mom enjoys going to the dining room, and the menu has some good choices. There’s also a front porch with rocking chairs where residents can sit and chat. This community offers the best value with the most to offer. I also want to mention that my advisor from A Place for Mom was awesome. She learned all about my mom and what I wanted for her, and her follow-up was great.

""Decent Place, But Not Affordable & Lacks Medical Assistance""
I felt this place was okay. It was nice and clean and didn't smell at all. But sadly, the cost was just too high for what we could pay. Also, the way the rooms were set up wasn't really what we were looking for. Plus, the rooms didn't look like they had what was needed for medical help.

"Brookdale of Fredericksburg: A Month of Pleasant Surprises"
I think Brookdale of Fredericksburg is really nice so far. It's super clean and big, kinda like a fancy hotel. The people who work in the dining area are really nice, and they offer lots of different foods for the residents to choose from. The nurses are really patient and take good care of my brother and his wife. Since they moved to Brookdale just a month ago, things have been going even better than we thought. I hope they keep getting used to their new home.

"Poor Care Despite Good Food"
They don't follow through on their promises. They struggle with maintaining their CNA workforce and ensuring the well-being of the patient is prioritized, and providing proper care. They simply can't seem to get a handle on it. I'm removing him from their care this month. The one positive is that their food is excellent, which deserves a 5 star rating. Everything else is poor, hardly a 2 star rating.

I really like the people who work at Brookdale. They're super nice. My dad stays there, and he thinks the food is okay. Sometimes they take a while to bring the food, but I guess it's the same everywhere. He wishes there were more things to do, though. But I'm glad they take good care of him. The best thing about Brookdale is how friendly and respectful the staff are to everyone who lives there.

"Mixed Bag at Emeritus Wilburn Gardens"
Our time at Emeritus at Wilburn Gardens has been kind of up and down. The place itself looks great, and now our family member feels more at home and is getting on well with the staff. They're mostly nice and nurturing. But, there are numerous things they could get better at. Our family member doesn't have much good to say about the meals, and she often grumbles about not knowing when things are happening because the staff aren't great at letting her know.

"Understaffed and not providing promised care"
It’s okay for someone who only needs assisted living, but not for those who require more. The staff is stretched thin, and they make big promises that fall short. For instance, my grandmother has used her emergency alert several times when she needed to use the bathroom. Unfortunately, it took them 40 minutes to respond, and she ended up having an accident. They said they’d provide meals if necessary, but that hasn’t been the case. My grandmother gets upset because of it. Even when she needed aspirin, it took 40 minutes for someone to come to her room.

"Inadequate Staffing and Activity Neglect in Assisted Living Facility"
A monthly activities schedule was handed out, but hardly any activities took place. There were no reminders given to the residents prior to the activities, so those struggling with memory loss mostly stayed confined to their rooms. Residents having memory problems couldn't remember to hit the call button for staff aid (my parent mistook it for a heart rate monitor), so unless a facility staff happened to pass by their room, there wasn't much help provided. The caregiver-resident ratio was unsatisfactory, with too few caregivers tasked with looking after too many residents.

"Assisted Living Concerns: No WIFI, Slow Care, and Bad Food"
Wilburn Assisted Living Disappoints: No WIFI, Poor Care, Lousy Food" "Wilburn seems to be the only assisted living facility on the east coast without WIFI. It was so annoying moving in, and then waiting a whole week for the TV to get connected. Even then, the channel choice was really limited. Shockingly, when we finally got WIFI, we were told it costs $50 a month with a Comcast contract. There was confusion about the medication process and I'm still unsure if they've got it right. It took them 6 hours to bring a needed medicine. My sister fell on her second night there when she was on her way to the bathroom. She must have pressed her call button so many times, but no one came. In desperation, she screamed for help. She was left on the floor for an hour. And the food? It's awful. They serve powdered eggs or rice krispies for breakfast and there's no fruit.

"Attractive Decor Can't Make Up For Assisted Living Facility's Issues"
This place is probably best for someone who's really independent and doesn't have any trouble moving around on their own, and just needs someone to make their meals. On the first day my relative moved in, they let go of the chief cook and the person in charge of fun stuff because they were dating. Everyone who works there seems kind of down, and you can hear them complaining to each other in the hallways about different problems. Each person living there gets a special necklace to wear that they can press when they need help. On the second night, it took a helper 25 minutes to come, so I had to go ask the boss to call for someone. She thought maybe the helper was busy giving someone a bath. But no, the only helper there said she was taking food to people's rooms; my relative needed help going to the bathroom. When the helper did come, she left her unlit cigarette on the railing outside my relative's room. Guess she was about to take a break to smoke. They really should focus more on taking care of the residents. It seems like they're always short on staff, especially on weekends. The toilet in my relative's room stopped working on a Saturday and they said it wouldn't be fixed until Monday. That's not okay, not when my relative needs help getting to a different restroom, especially considering the amount of money we're paying. They did end up fixing the toilet that day, but then it broke again two weeks later. We're constantly having to remind them to address concerns about my relative's oxygen tank too. Several times, I've seen that the previous night's dinner tray was still in the room at dinner time the next day. Every time I visit, it seems like there's a new problem that needs to be fixed. Thank goodness there are a few kind and helpful staff members, but some of them really should think about getting a job somewhere else. They're always frowning and acting like they're bothered whenever you ask for anything. Honestly, if it were up to me, I'd have my relative stay somewhere else. Fancy spaces for eating and hanging out mean nothing when there are so many issues.

This place is nice. I like it. They need more workers, but everyone is friendly. I can't say if it's worth the money, but people say it's a good deal. I wish they'd have more things to do. "Warm Welcome Needed at Caring Residence"
Getting ready to move the patient in was really smooth and all our questions got answered. But when it came to actually moving them in, we didn’t get much help. The person in charge and the fix-it team weren’t around, so a bunch of stuff we were told would be fixed had to wait until they got back days later. During the move, nobody was there to lend a hand for hours, and we had to keep running downstairs to ask for help, which we only found after a long time. It would be better if there was a special way to greet patients when they arrive, not just leaving everything for the family to handle. For instance, no one was there to help set up the TV, and it was tough to find someone to sort out the medicine. It felt like all we got was the key and nothing else. The place itself was clean and the staff was really caring towards the patients.
