"Friendly Staff, Improved Communication, Food Quality Suggestions"

The staff is really nice and easy to talk to. I feel comfortable asking them questions or bringing up any problems. Recently, having a new executive director has made communication much better. It's good to have someone in charge who listens to our concerns. As for the food, I think they could offer healthier snacks and fewer sugary treats.

"Assisted Living Review: Good for Alzheimer's, Lacking for High Functioning Dementia"

I'd suggest this place for Alzheimer's, but they need better-trained staff for high functioning dementia.

"Great tour, similar to [community name], consider budget for choice"

We toured Spring Hills Mount Vernon; great experience, similar to [community name]. It's pricier [fee], but recommend based on needs and budget.

"Great Memory Care at Spring Hills!"

We picked Spring Hills Mount Vernon because they’re really caring, the place isn’t too big, and the food is good. They do most things well, but sometimes they have trouble with late-stage Alzheimer’s patients getting angry.

"Decent Facility with Okay Cleanliness and Atmosphere"

We visited Spring Hills Mount Vernon while looking for an Assisted Living place for our loved one. This facility was okay. The cleanliness, atmosphere, and tour guide were also okay.

"Vibrant Activities Bring Joy to Spring Hills Mount Vernon Residents"

The Activities Team at Spring Hills Mount Vernon is always busy with fun and creative ideas for residents and sometimes even families. They offer a variety of options every day to suit everyone who lives in the assisted living community. Recently, there were exciting dragon dancers who celebrated Lunar New Year with colorful performances, a special "Breakfast at Tiffany's" themed event for Mother's Day, and chances for residents and staff to share their backgrounds and traditions. The Activities Director also encourages connections with the wider community by bringing in school kids who made paper flowers, music students who gave concerts, and organizing trips to local restaurants, parks, and other places. They celebrate both big and small events every day, from Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby to International Donut Day. Residents stay engaged with daily music, exercise, and games. I really think the activities at SHMV are worth trying.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Basics"

This place is not as good as it used to be. They're cutting corners, not having enough staff, and serving bad food. The phones haven't been working for months. Some people can't use cell phones because they're not feeling well. Families can't talk to each other for weeks because of this problem. Lately, it's just not good enough.

"Warm Community with Great Food, Spacious Rooms, and Friendly Staff"

This place feels like a small town. The food options are awesome, and the rooms are big. There are many people in wheelchairs. The staff is super nice.

"Great Care, Minor Hiccups"

My mom's doing really well since moving here. I'm comfortable with her living here. She's safe and well taken care of. The staff is good and gives her proper care. They keep the place clean and tidy. The meals are nice and there are fun activities. The only problem was the elevator broke on moving day, which made it harder. Besides that, everything's going well, and I'd recommend this place.

"Smooth Transition and Supportive Staff at Spring Hill Assisted Living"

I take care of an 89-year-old neighbor who can't see well and has dementia. She moved to Spring Hill a month ago, and I was worried, but she seems okay there. She can't do some things because of her eyes, but she feels part of the group. The staff listens to me about her needs, which is important when you're new. I hope they'll understand her better over time.

"Caring Community with Bright, Clean Spaces"

My sister is doing really well at this place. They take good care of her and make sure her needs are met. They do a great job of keeping her room and the whole place clean. The staff is nice and helpful. My sister enjoys participating in activities and meeting new people. I especially like the big windows in her room. I feel confident about the care she's getting.

"Decent Experience at Spring Hills Mount Vernon"

Our time at Spring Hills Mount Vernon has been pretty good. It looks nice, and the staff I've met are friendly and act professionally. My loved one is struggling a bit to adjust, but mostly, things seem okay. I think the problems we've faced are common in places like this, so we're okay with it overall.

"Assisted Living Facility Experiences Recent Changes, Mixed Satisfaction Levels"

There are some changes in the staff lately. They have a new director for the facility and a new director for care. Families of the residents didn't know about these changes until a few weeks later. The food is okay. The nurses know what they're doing. The cleaning staff is nice. However, the activities have decreased over the past year, maybe because of money problems. Some residents aren't very happy, and it's noticeable. The residents are different ages and have different thinking abilities. Most of them have trouble walking. It can be hard to get in and out of the dining room because of this.

"Unwelcoming and Unclean: Wouldn't Entrust My Pet Here"

This place is seriously unclean and lacks a cozy, homey vibe. I wouldn't even consider sending my pet there.

"Memory Care Facility Activities Shine, Some Familiar Comforts"

We moved our mom into this memory care place, feeling pretty nervous. The staff is really nice and easy to talk to, and they're always around when we need them. We were most impressed by all the fun things they have for the residents to do. Mom used to just nap between meals, but now she's getting involved in lots of activities like gardening, games, cooking, playing catch, and even racing remote control cars. The staff even ask the residents to help out with little tasks like folding napkins and tidying up, which seems to make them feel useful and at home. It's cool to see how the residents kind of remember things from their past lives and get into the swing of things. So far, we're happy with how things are going.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

This place is nice and clean. Hallways and areas for everyone to hang out are always tidy, and people in wheelchairs or using walkers won't have trouble moving around. The rooms for residents are also kept tidy. The staff here are really nice and ready to help with anything or answer questions. The care they provide is good, but sometimes they take a couple of hours to check on everyone, which might be too long for some things. There are emergency cords in the bathrooms and a system to call for help from the bedside phone, but they don't work well for people with memory problems. There are plenty of things to do here, like games, art, music, and different people coming to entertain everyone. Outside, there's a nice space to hang out together or just enjoy the fresh air. Visitors are always welcome, and the atmosphere is pleasant.

"The staff is friendly"

It's a nice community, but sometimes smells. More outdoor activities needed. Staff is friendly, meals enjoyed, good value.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living: Review of Spring Hills"

This place is super nice and the people who work here are awesome! They make sure you feel welcomed and pair you up with someone you can get along with. I really like it here and already think of it as my new home.

"Friendly Staff and Affordable Care, but Room Cleanliness Lacking"

I liked Spring Hills Mount Vernon. The workers were nice and took good care of everyone. Henrietta, one of the nurses, was super helpful. The cost is low for the care they give. But, they need to clean better. Mom's room was never very tidy when we visited.

"Spring Hill ROCKS!!!!"

Spring Hill Mount Vernon has been a great place for my father. The staff is amazing—they take excellent care of him, are super friendly, and genuinely care about his health. The facilities and activities are top-notch, and he really enjoys the food, especially the French fries. I couldn't have picked a better place for him.

"Safe and caring assisted living, some staff turnover concerns"

I was really happy when I found Spring Hills Mt. Vernon while searching for a safe place for my mom who has dementia/Alzheimer's. The people there are great, and since I live out of state, I had to trust them a lot to take care of my mom. She's safe, which is the most important thing for me, and she has a nice apartment. Mom has gained weight and looks much healthier now that she's eating well and staying active. The staff always keep me updated and are ready to talk whenever I have questions or worries. I'd give it five stars, but there have been a lot of changes in management and nursing staff since my mom got there (17 months ago). I wish there was more consistency, and some of the nursing staff are hard to understand because English isn't their first language. Still, I would really recommend this place, even though it's expensive. Knowing my mom is safe gives me a lot of peace of mind.

"Active and Pleasant Assisted Living Facility with Some Concerns"

This place was really good because I saw the people who live there doing lots of fun stuff. The people who organize activities are very active too. They have nice areas for gardening and sitting outside with good furniture. The rooms are clean and look nice with new paint and carpet. The staff are nice and friendly, and I liked seeing pictures of the residents with their families and the staff. But there were a couple of things that weren't so great. Sometimes there's a faint smell of cleaning stuff, and it's a bit far from where kids play sports or go to school. But it's close to my MIL's place, so that's handy if we want to visit both at once. The price is still something to think about though.

"Lovely facility, difficult location"

This was a very nice facility, but I didn't want to travel to Mt. Vernon. Getting back on Rt. 1 South could be really hard depending on the time.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living: Shows Well, Lacks Warmth"

I'm giving this place three stars because I'm unsure about it. It's my first time in such a place, and while some of the staff are nice, I haven't felt the care they talk about from the directors. Once, I called the Facility Director, and he said he'd join a meeting, but he didn't. He didn't even introduce himself when he came out of his office. If it wasn't so hard for older folks to move, I'd find another place for my family. The common areas are clean, but they should pay more attention to individual rooms.

"Clean facility, friendly staff, great care, minor availability issue"

The facility is very clean and nice, and the staff is really friendly. They have a great wellness center where mom can go if she’s not feeling well. They also have a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, and a speech and memory specialist, along with nurses and assistants, so the care is excellent. There are activities throughout the day that keep her busy, but they don’t force her to join in. She can choose to relax in her room if she prefers. It’s her first time living away from her home of over 40 years, so she’s finding it tough, but she understands it’s for her own good. They could improve their availability because I often have trouble reaching them due to the time difference and full voicemail. On the plus side, they take her to doctor appointments, and she gets her prescriptions for free through the military, which they help with.

"Excellent nursing care; facility could use updates and varied activities"

This place is pretty clean, but it could use some sprucing up. The elevators feel old, but the areas people see often are well-kept. It's a bit inconvenient that they don't have an electronic door for accessibility. The nursing care is top-notch. The Director of Nursing is especially fantastic; they'd be in trouble if she left. They have separate areas for memory care, which is nice, but they could take residents out more often and vary their activities. The staff, including Carolyn and the on-site RN, are great at making residents feel comfortable and happy. They even help with health improvements, like managing blood sugar. Overall, they treat everyone with respect and dignity.

"Caring Staff and Great Support at Spring Hill"

Spring Hill Mount Vernon really knows what they're doing. From the moment my wife and I walked through the doors on our first day for our tour until today, we felt the care. They not only take great care of my wife, but they also support me as I adjust to life without her by my side every day for the last 54+ years. The employees at Spring Hill really care and love their interactions.

"Unsatisfactory Assisted Living Facility No Longer Our Choice"

My relative who has difficulty moving around wasn't given regular showers, although we were told they would be. Even after plenty of complaints, nothing changed. There were a few mistakes made with medication, including wrong dosages and mixing up medication. There was an incident where they were given a sleeping pill that made them sleep for over a day. When the wrong red pill was found in their medicine box, they simply said they'd 'look into it' but did nothing. At least 5 falls happened, with one needing an ambulance and a hospital visit. I was only informed about it four hours later. Other residents could freely enter my relative's room day and night. The "Director" didn't want to fix this to avoid upsetting other residents' families. There was a lot of confusion about what medication they were on and the level of service they needed. Changes in rooms were also brought up unexpectedly, trying to get us to move to a more expensive room. Dietary restrictions weren't taken seriously unless it was about diabetes or allergies. I once found my relative drinking their third cup of coffee at 8:00 pm. To help them sleep, they were given sleeping pills. The doctor's visits were barely existent. When I tried meeting him during his weekly Thursday visits for two months, I missed him each time. Medication was changed randomly and often for more expensive drugs. They were delivered in large packs from a place in Maryland, so it was hard to keep track of changes. We also had to pay a high price for this medication. The Director didn't listen to feedback. After all this, I moved my relative to a different home where she was much happier.

"Nice, Clean Assisted Living"

Wow, the place was really nice and clean. I had a great chat with the Director today. Unfortunately, I couldn't check out the deluxe room or the one-bedroom option. We left thinking about it, but we'll have to see how Mom feels.
