"Great Location and Staff Make This Facility Stand Out!"
We picked this place mainly because of where it is and the people who work here. It's really nice.

"Sunrise of Bluemont Park: Mixed Experience"
My family member lives at Sunrise of Bluemont Park, and overall, it's just okay. The facility is older, so there's no fancy technology for activities or personalized care. The meals? Terrible. They really need better food options. Plus, there are no activities after 4pm. They should offer more variety for active residents. Communication about my loved one's daily routine is lacking. I'd recommend Sunrise of Bluemont Park, but families should check out other facilities too.

"Unsatisfactory Living Conditions and Unresponsive Management at Elderly Facility"
My parents constantly experience problems at this living facility. The biggest issues include slow responses to their call buttons (when they're even working!), missed appointments for my mom's showers, a malfunctioning elevator, and the rundown condition of the building. The food is poor and usually served cold, specifically breakfast, and they often run out of dinner dishes. While a few staff members are kind and committed, most don't seem to care at all. There's a palpable sense of indifference all around. There's so much room for improvements, but nothing seems to be done. Despite management occasionally saying the right things, it generally feels like they're just going through the motions and not genuinely working on solutions.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
I really like the nice staff who take good care of everyone. They're always around, making sure things are okay. But, the food isn't great. Also, when we signed up, they didn't explain everything about the care or which building my loved one would be in.

"Great Assisted Living with Big Windows!"
This place is really nice, and they know their stuff. The folks who handle marketing are awesome, but the caregivers for my parents face some challenges. I think communication between marketing and staff could be better. Still, I’d definitely recommend their services. The facility has big windows, too.

"Poor Communication and Delayed Response at Assisted Living Facility."
My family member fell while talking to me on the phone and it was a long 45 minutes before help arrived. I called an ambulance before I was even able to get in touch with the people at the assisted living center. Trying to communicate with them is quite a hassle. The doctor they have is always ready to argue, leaving the front desk empty at times, making them unaccessible. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone else.

"Decent Assisted Living, Lacking Staff Pay and Communication"
Considering the costs, this assisted living community could step up their service and care a bit. Since the pandemic began in March, the number of activities have declined. But pre-COVID, there were fun things like movie nights and exercise classes here. They even arranged for grocery store and pharmacy trips, as well as other mini excursions. Our family member living here says the food is decent and has no complaints. The community is clean and well-maintained, with clean break rooms that have decent furnishings. Our family member's room stays clean which we are happy about. But one key drawback here is the low salary for their staff, which seems to affect their work output. Communication here needs improvement. The nursing care is pretty low grade, but there are a few staff members who genuinely care for the residents and are excellent at their work.

"Misdiagnosis Leads to Short Stay, Lost Down Payment."
The overall surroundings at the assisted living were fairly tidy. Most of the employees were friendly. However, when they first evaluated my mom, they wrongly identified her needs. Instead of recognizing she needed memory care, they suggested regular assisted living. After moving in, she had a hard time remembering her room, so we had to bring in a full-time caregiver from outside to help her. Unfortunately, we had to make a decision to move her from the facility after a short while. To top it off, they refused to refund our initial payment.

"Decent spot but heating and cooling needs work"
This place has been decent enough up to this point. The meals are tasty and the place is kept tidy. But I have one gripe - the heating and air system is rather old, and you can't run it for heat and air at the same time. The people working here are nice and helpful.

"Satisfied with Sunrise at Bluemont Park Assisted Living Experience"
My husband needed assisted living fast when he got paralyzed. Sunrise at Bluemont Park was the first to reach out after I contacted [Removed] from A Place for Mom, as my friend suggested. After visiting, we chose them. He's been there about two months, and we're pretty happy overall. The food is tasty, and the aides are caring. Most issues we've had weren't Sunrise's fault, like finding a fitting wheelchair. But we were bummed we couldn't use their transport for medical appointments. We're still adjusting, but we're settling in well.

"Decent Experience, Difficult Paperwork and Disappointing Food"
[Removed] was very easy to reach and provided lots of help during the signing of the contract. The Bluemont nurse even traveled all the way to Maryland to meet the new resident - that was really nice of them. Getting everything ready for the move-in took longer than expected, dealing with all the forms and insurance details was a little taxing, but that wasn't Bluemont's fault. The apartment was ready on time, although a few things had to be tweaked. The resident wasn't very happy with the food but unfortunately, that's a common issue in most facilities. Luckily, we were able to get a discount for the month of August which was a great help.

"Great Setting, Cozy Rooms"
Wow, this place has a great hilltop setting with beautiful old trees. It's so peaceful and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms we saw were nice, but the studio apartments are a bit small for the price.

"Cannot support or suggest this pricey, poorly managed facility."
My mom lived here and the care workers did their best, but the bosses were awful. They never answered questions or problems right. They also seemed like they didn't know what they needed to do. Plus, I thought it cost a lot for what they actually did. It felt like they were always trying to make us pay more...the cost kept going up. I can't suggest anyone use this place...

"Seemed like a nice place"
We checked out this place when we were looking for options for a family member. I thought it looked nice—clean and well-maintained—and the staff seemed friendly. We decided to keep it as our backup choice in case our first pick didn't work out. Definitely worth considering!

"Positive Experience with Some Hiccups"
My folks are still in respite, likely signing soon. We've been there a few weeks. Cleanliness and staff are excellent, though a tad reactive. Still sorting out roles. Care manager and physical therapy are great. Major staff transitions ongoing, but it's normal here. Dining and outdoor spaces are fantastic. Comfortable apartment with lots of light.

"Parents love the staff"
My parents are very happy here. They love the staff the most. They go to movies, church groups, and my dad gets therapy on-site. They really like the food. The billing took a while to sort out, which was annoying, but it got fixed in the end. There's limited parking for visitors, so it can be hard to find a spot, but you can park at a nearby park and walk over.

"Mixed Services and Timely Meals"
I stayed at the facility for rehab, so my experience was different from others. They try their best, but can't control daily happenings with varied needs. During my rehab, dressing assistance was needed due to limited mobility; sometimes prompt, sometimes not. Weekend services were noticeably inferior to weekdays, likely due to staffing. Meals were necessary for me, but timing between breakfast and lunch was tight, and options after 6 were limited. Food was okay, but not outstanding. Overall, it served its purpose but had room for improvement. While I may consider other retirement homes, this one won't be my choice.

"Lovely setting with thoughtful care and great safety features"
The setting is beautiful, surrounded by trees. They take note of residents’ backgrounds, so they sit with others who share similar experiences at dinner. The hallways are bright and designed to help people with vision issues. My mom was really impressed. The kitchen is well-lit, and the residents seem happy. They offer in-house extended care, not outsourced like I heard at Sunrise Jefferson. Residents wear an alert system for safety, and fire safety is well-organized. They also provide snacks between meals, which is a nice touch.

I recently moved my mom into this assisted living facility, and overall, it has been a great experience. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and the meals are nutritious and tasty. My mom enjoys the activities they offer, and I feel confident that she is safe and well-cared for. While no place is perfect, this one comes pretty close.
