"Mixed experience due to residents' cognitive differences affecting social interaction."
I like the place, but Mom struggles to find friends.

"Happy with Care at Sunrise Fair Oaks"
I chose this place because my care advisor said it was good. He got sick and had to go to the hospital two times. The old place he was at didn’t want him back unless he went to a nursing home for some rehab first. I decided to move him to Sunrise Fair Oaks because it’s close to Fair Oaks Hospital and my care advisor really recommended it. I’m glad with how they’re taking care of him.

"Enchanting Community Event: Music, Food, and Carriage Ride Delight"
I went to a friend's event on Saturday at the assisted living place. The food was great, and we enjoyed some nice music. They even had a fun ride in a horse-drawn carriage that brought back some good memories. Both visitors and residents had a good time listening to the music. The place felt lively and energetic, more than usual.

"Friendly staff and updated apartments, but basic activities."
I think the care is good overall. Sunrise is nicely laid out, and many apartments have been updated. There’s a renovated 2-room apartment in a good spot. The staff is friendly and attentive. However, my Mom hasn’t connected with other residents—most have memory loss, while she’s still sharp. The activities are too basic for her, but they did offer a special art class on Sundays just for her. She’s a talented artist.

"Upscale Assisted Living with Small Rooms"
The place smells nice, staff are friendly, and residents enjoy socializing outside on rocking chairs. It has a pleasant, upscale 'Southern Genteel' vibe. Common areas are well-maintained, but the studio rooms are small and the one-bedrooms are pricey.

"Great care and activities in a clean, friendly environment"
We had a great tour and found the place clean and pleasant. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions about the care provided. We liked the variety of menu options and the many activities available for residents. We recommend this community for taking care of a loved one. Families should definitely consider scheduling a tour.

"Higher Price Due to DC Location?"
During our visit to Sunrise at Fair Oaks, we liked the location and their approach, but we were surprised to find it much more expensive than other Sunrise places nearby. The higher cost might be due to its closeness to DC. Everyone there was really friendly and professional, and we had a positive experience touring the facility.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
During our visit, the place looked clean. It's a bit pricey and has shared rooms, which isn't ideal for Mom. The foyer feels open and bright. They seem to offer activities, and the staff we met were friendly.

"Brief Stay; Best Suited for Healthy Folks"
My wife stayed at this facility before our next move. This place isn't right for nursing care, but they managed to accommodate my wife for some time. The staff put in lots of work to provide the care she needed. I believe it's more suitable for people who are generally healthy.

"Terrible Care and Poor Communication!"
I was really unhappy with this place. They didn't take care of my mom's cleanliness or keep track of what was happening with her. The lack of communication between the staff was really bad. All of the folks living there looked unhappy and tired. My mom is out of that place for good.

"Engaging Community with Personable Staff and Varied Activities"
Honestly, this is the best home you'll find around here! The rooms are roomy, there're tons of fun things to do, and the workers really care. It's one of the few homes where folks aren't just sitting around like they're "waiting to die." Every time I stop by, all the folks are involved in something fun. What's nice is they have levels for everyone's ability, so the activities match their needs.

"Decent assisted living but food quality needs attention."
Sunrise at Fair Oaks is a pretty good place overall. The only thing that could be better is the food. It's supposed to be healthy, but sometimes they cook the chicken too much or serve pork that's not cooked enough. Apart from that, everything else is really nice. The staff and residents are friendly, and the place feels cozy and clean.

"Visited Valerie Parker's Assisted Living: Nice, but Can Get Pricey"
She was really friendly and told me a lot about the place. This assisted living facility is pretty big and they have a section for memory care on the first floor. The main kitchen area could use some cleaning, the floor was a bit sticky. I got to see and talk with many staff and residents, and even saw a few activities happening. The place wasn't as nice as the GF site I visited the day before. The courtyard was smaller than I expected. I think their extra services can get really pricey.

"Beautiful setting with great food, but carpet needs upgrade."
The setting is beautiful, located on the Innova Fairfax grounds. The entrance is very welcoming and looks great. Inside, it was what we were looking for, but we worry about upcoming renovations. The carpet we hoped for was recently replaced with a plain beige one. It's nice but not special. For the price, we expected more elegance instead of standard budget options. The food is excellent! We met the Chef and most of the food was made from scratch. Residents seem happy, and the dining room is always full. The receptionist made a fantastic first impression. She is informative and friendly, and she seems to prioritize residents over the corporation. We would like to know more about future renovations.

"Could diversify activities"
The facility is very clean, and the staff we've met are very friendly. The care is good, but due to my mother-in-law’s dementia, we've hired extra help to maintain her independence. The environment is comfortable, and the layout is attractive. However, I feel they could offer more varied activities, especially ones that help residents recall past memories or engage in simpler word games.

"Could Use More Personal Attention and Better Value"
I've only visited once or twice since I stay in New York while caring for my dad. My sibling and their spouse have been handling things, but as far as I can tell, the place is pretty clean and provides good care. However, I'm slightly disappointed by the value for the money we're spending. I feel they should do a bit more for my dad, given that it's pricier than what we were paying in New York. I expected a more personal approach. My dad is conscious and alert, but he's becoming more depressed and inactive. He really doesn't want to be involved in anything. We were hoping to get a bigger apartment for him instead of a simple room, and they did have better options in that regard.

"Expensive yet lacks certified caregivers medication issues observed."
This place cost more and looked fancier. Inside was pretty fancy, nice, but fancy. Besides the cost, each person had a caregiver, not a certified professional, just someone trained by Sunrise. Also, noticed a resident by the nurses' station complaining about not getting meds. The tour guide seemed bothered by it.

"Mixed experience, but mostly satisfied with assisted living facility"
This place is mostly good, but there are some problems. The dining room needs improvement. At mealtime, some residents yell for no reason or get upset. Even though my family member isn't in the wing for people with memory issues, he's the youngest there. It's hard for him because he thinks he can talk to them, but he can't. The residents are sometimes nice but then they ignore him and me. Maybe it's because they're older. He really likes the staff, and the administration is pretty good. The director is new and sometimes doesn't understand the mealtime issues. Overall, we're happy because they try to make him happy.

"Great visit with Sunrise and Fair Oaks comfortable and convenient"
I had a long talk with the Sunrise main office and the Fair Oaks director. I visited and had a great experience. The place has a wonderful atmosphere and I like that it's so close to IFOHospital and part of the Innova system it's a plus if you need to go to the hospital. You can live comfortably and be yourself. The director is fantastic to work with.
