"High Cost, Low Care: Disappointment with Assisted Living Facility"

The care provided to my mom at this place is disappointing. It often takes hours for staff to respond when she calls. On top of that, there's a major issue with communication among the staff - nobody seems to know what others are doing. There are hardly any activities for residents to engage in. Before, residents used to play cards, partake in crafts, watch movies, play games, and so on. Now all we have is bingo and the rare trivia game that usually ends with a staff member posing unanswered questions. Considering the high cost of living here, you'd expect better. The facility's director is neither helpful nor efficient. She spends most of her time in her office on her computer. Would you believe that there was a time when we had loads of family events filled with ample tasty food? These days, we are lucky if we even get word of an upcoming event. The meals served here are barely edible. Plus, they always seem to be running out of meal options – surely, managing food supplies for the residents can't be that difficult.

"Caring Staff, Dining Improvements Needed"

The staff is amazing—they do a fantastic job! The activities team and nursing staff are great, and housekeeping and maintenance are top-notch. However, the dining experience could use some improvement. I’d love to see more menu options.

"Pricey with Incomplete Information, but Clean Environment"

The place was tidy. It cost more than we planned, and the sales manager couldn't answer all our questions.

"Great place with friendly staff and a pet-friendly atmosphere"

We picked Sunrise at Silas Burke House over other places because it was really close to me. When I visited, I was very impressed with the staff, the way the place looked, and the overall vibe. Many people don’t know, but it’s also pet friendly. I would definitely recommend it to others looking for a good assisted living facility.

"Severe Staff Issues at Assisted Living Facility"

I feel like this place isn't good for anyone who needs to use the restroom frequently. It's probably okay if you just need somewhere to live and can take care of yourself. But my mom kept asking for help to go to the bathroom and they just wouldn’t assist her. Honestly, I can't find anything positive to say about this place. If you really care about your folks, don't send them here. They can't seem to keep staff for any length of time, which is worrying. Plus, a lot of the people working there don’t even speak English.

""Profit-Centered Facility; Suitable for Minimal Assistance Needs""

Gorgeous facility, they prioritize profit over care. Explore other options that focus on care, research thoroughly, it's a Marriott. It could be fine if you require little assistance.

"Undecided about moving in, liked the community atmosphere."

I liked being around others, but I'm not sure about living there yet.

"New and Clean, But Expensive"

The place is new, so it's clean and has many room options. The residents seemed happy, and the location works well for me. The best part is that they offer services all the way to memory care without needing to move to another place. However, it is quite pricey—about $10,000 more per year than similar places, if you can find and get to them in NOVA.

"Excellent care and attention"

Sunrise Burke is a beautiful place, but what really makes me give it 5 stars is the great care my mom gets in the Reminiscence neighborhood. The staff knows a lot about memory care and they pay close attention to what the residents need. We are really happy with Sunrise at Silas Burke!

"Failed to Accommodate Serious Type 1 Diabetics"

They don't accept folks who have serious type 1 diabetes. Unfortunately, I had to remove them from my options. I had to give stars for the review, but they don't really fit, since it's a new facility - we just can't go there.
