"Sunrise Treats Residents Like Family, But Has Some Issues"
There are many things I really love about Sunrise, which is why we chose it for my Mom. Mainly, they treat their residents like family, which is super important. They also provide a nice level of care. They always let me know if anything happens to my mom, like if she falls. But there were some problems when my mom moved in. Even though we signed the paperwork 45 days in advance and paid a month ahead, they weren't ready for her. The room had things that needed fixing that I told them about a month before, and they didn’t have a proper care plan for her at the start. However, they caught up after about two weeks, and things have been great since then. One thing I struggle with is that they don't help with getting residents to specialist doctors, like eye doctors or for mammograms. I thought they would help make appointments and arrange transportation, but they don't. Maybe other assisted living places don't either, I'm not sure. It's also discouraging that a month after we moved in, the rates increased. They told us this could happen but said it probably wouldn’t happen to us since we just moved in. But I guess rate increases are common in the industry. Overall, I don’t want to overlook that they treat my mom very well, and I see them treating other residents well too. I always feel welcomed when I visit, and I go often.

"Mixed experience: Good for assisted living, not ideal for memory care"
This place is good if you need some help with living, but not so much for people who need help with remembering things. It's always clean and smells nice, and the food is pretty good with different options. The money stuff is a bit confusing because they charge every day instead of every month. Some of the people who take care of us could be nicer and pay more attention. Some are good though, they just seem really busy. The bosses who take care of everything were really helpful. It's not terrible here, just okay. We wanted a smaller place in the end. Memory care needs more personal attention and fewer people around for better care. I'd say it's good for living help but not for memory help.

"Understaffed Facility Concerns"
Stay involved in your loved one's care. I noticed that residents without family around were often left alone. The challenges didn't seem to come from poor management, but rather understaffing. Some staff tried their best, while others lacked attention and courtesy. We even found an attendant asleep in our relative's chair, and clothes went missing. Treatment varied—some friendly, others not. Despite nationwide staffing issues, we felt the service fell short.

"Happy Resident, Good Value, Responsive Staff"
The place is great for the resident’s daughter because it’s close by. We didn’t worry about anything bad at Sunrise, so we didn’t look at other places. The person living there feels like it’s their home now. Our buddy likes the food and hasn’t said anything bad about it, but we haven’t tried it ourselves. We’ve seen a list of fun things to do, but since our friend doesn’t join in, we’re not sure if they really happen. The cost seems fair and nothing to worry about. We’ve had some problems, but the staff always tries to fix them when we tell them. Things are going pretty well, and we’d tell other families to think about Sunrise of Alexandria for their loved ones.

"Mixed Feelings about Memory Care Assisted Living Facility"
Our experience relates to the unit in the facility that focuses on memory care. We totally get that there's a shortage of workers in all areas of healthcare across the country and we're trying our best to keep that in mind. Still, we're running into issues like our fees going up each month and not really understanding why. Some of the staff are really helpful, but communication can be a bit hit or miss with others. The condition can make our family member challenging at times and it's tough to tell if they're getting the best care possible. We're not experts, but it kind of seems like they would prefer to simply give the residents medications instead of actually working through issues and figuring out solutions.

"Great place, but too far and pricey"
Our visit to Sunrise of Alexandria was great. The staff were friendly and knew a lot. They explained everything well and were really organized. The only downside was that it's a bit far and a little too expensive.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The staff at this place is really good. My loved one isn't thrilled with the food, which I think could be better. They offer activities, but I believe they could offer more. I understand COVID has limited things, but I still think more could be done. It's a bit expensive, too.

"Caring Staff and Good Food Family Activities are a Plus"
My mom lives in memory care. The staff are really nice to her and take good care of her. They do fun family activities that everyone enjoys. The food is good, and there are other choices if she doesn't like what's on the menu.

"Caring Staff and Cleanliness at a High Cost"
I’d share with others that this is a super kind and loving place. It’s always clean, and the team looks after everyone really well. The best thing about it is the awesome staff. I wish the prices were a bit lower than they are now.

"Lovely Community with Kind People, Not Ideal for My Wife"
I had a good experience touring this community. It's a nice place with friendly people. Everything looked well-kept and the staff answered my questions nicely. However, it wasn't the right fit for my wife's needs. Overall, my tour was positive.

"Unfair Pricing for Short Stays at Sunrise"
Sunrise seemed like a good place, but they weren't ready to negotiate on the cost of my mom's 4-day short stay. I didn't think it was fair to pay for 2 weeks when she was only going to be there for 4 days.
