The Crossings at Falls Run

"Unhappy with Assisted Living Conditions"
I’d rate this place in the negatives if possible. I strongly advise against it—better to head in the other direction. This summer, my folks were without air conditioning for three whole months. They got one portable AC after two months, but had to sleep in the living room chairs because it was a two-bedroom place. Only in the last month did they get a second AC for their bedroom, but still couldn’t use most of their home. No compensation was offered for this. The food’s another story. It’s so bad, people can’t eat it. It’s unsafe too—served cold when it should be hot, and so dry it’s inedible. My parents and others even got sick from it, with some ending up in the hospital. Despite this, no rent reduction or meal credit has been given. Cleaning services are a joke. The cleaner barely spends 15 minutes and misses big areas. We’ve complained, like many others, but no rent credits there either. Transportation services are lacking. There’s just one driver for doctor’s appointments and events, so I often end up driving my parents myself. No compensation for this inconvenience. They claim to offer 24/7 emergency services, but that’s not true. The emergency pull-cord has broken multiple times without help arriving. Once, my mom had to dial 911 herself because no one at the front desk answered. The front desk is often unattended, leaving residents without assistance. Staff shortages are so bad that managers and directors serve tables. They’ve gone through several directors in just a few months, and good kitchen staff keep quitting. We’ve reported these issues to the authorities and are seeking legal advice for a refund while looking for a new place. There are even more problems I haven’t mentioned. It’s a terrible facility run by a terrible company, with very little going right. They’re friendly, sure, but that doesn’t fix anything.

"Avoid this assisted living: declining care, poor leadership, hospital visits."
My mom has been living there since 2019, but things have only gotten worse since. They keep changing who's in charge, so the staff doesn't know what to do. My mom had to go to the hospital twice, and the last time, the EMTs told me they're worried about what's happening there. It's just sad. If I could move my mom somewhere else without hurting her, I would do it right away. Don't bother with this place!

"Assisted Living Review: Great for Retired Professionals, Needs Weekend Activities"
This place was pretty good overall. Make sure to ask about special deals when you move in. We got the first month's rent for free and didn't have to pay the community fee. This saved us more than $4000 in the first month. The people who work here are nice and polite. The place is really clean and looks nice, especially for retired professionals like teachers, nurses, and government workers. They have lots of things to do during the week for people who can do things by themselves and for those who need a bit more help. But there isn't much to do on the weekends. They've been hiring more people in the last year, but they still need more help on the side where people need more assistance. Here are some things to think about: - Visit your loved one a few times a week at different times of the day and night at the start to see how they're doing. - Check to see how often they're being looked after (maybe they need more or less help). - Meet the people who work there. - Eat lunch with your loved one to see if the food and service are good. - Stay involved in their care and ask a lot of questions about how they're feeling, eating, and doing activities. Don't worry about asking questions and speaking up. The staff like it when you're around and notice when they're doing a good job caring for your loved one.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Promises and Care"
We picked this place because of their promises. But it's run-down. The carpets, walls, and interior are old. They said they'd update my mom's room with new carpet and paint, and make it accessible for her wheelchair, but it's been over 10 months and nothing's been done. They knew she needed help getting in and out of her chair and shower, but they haven't provided the extra assistance we paid for. We even had to hire someone to help with cleaning and laundry, which should be part of the care. They keep having problems with staff and food, and the health department has gotten involved. We'd leave if we could find somewhere else at this point.

I chose this place because it was cheaper and closer. They need to work on care and communication. Decide for yourself.

"Good activities but staffing issues and accounting problems"
The Executive Director position changed 4 times in my 15 months here. I've had an issue with accounting since [date removed] that hasn't been fixed. The cleaning staff is too small, so the place isn't as clean as it should be. The head maid is overworked and doesn't have enough help. The food choices are good, but dining staff shortages affect the overall experience. The activities are amazing, with great staff and leadership. The residents are wonderful, and most of the staff are great. The daily concierge is outstanding!

"Modern facility with kind staff, great food, and minor issues"
Harmony at Falls Run has been a good fit for my mom so far. The place is modern, clean, and welcoming. The staff are kind and caring, though I think there could be more of them. The food is served restaurant-style and my mom loves it. Weekly housekeeping and laundry are very helpful for families. We had some issues at first with staff communication and getting medications right. I strongly suggest families stay involved and present as much as they can. It helps ensure the best care for your loved one.

"Harmony Assisted Living: Mixed Experience with Administrative Issues"
My mom lived at Harmony for 3 years. The first 2 1/2 years were fine, and she enjoyed her independent living apartment. However, after a fall last October, things went downhill. It took almost a week to get a response from Harmony when we tried to move her to an assisted living apartment. Administrative issues, like billing problems and lack of follow-through, were frustrating. Staff turnover is also concerning. Think twice before choosing Harmony for your family.

"Disappointing Visit to Harmony Assisted Living"
When we arrived for our visit, the outside of the facility clearly required significant attention. Entering the building didn’t offer any improvement; it appeared unclean and old-fashioned. Having seen another place before coming to Harmony, it’s clear there’s no match between them.

"Comfortable place, but cafeteria needs improvement and staff is struggling"
My family member says the cafeteria could use some work and they’re having trouble with staff. But the place itself is really nice it's comfy and not too fancy or too simple. It works well for him and is close to stores and friends. Overall, he’s happy with his stay at Harmony at Falls Run.

The location is really handy for us, which made our choice easier. The care level is good, and our loved one enjoys the meals and dining service. There are also lots of activities for residents who want to join. From our experience, we would recommend Harmony at Falls Run to other families.

"Decent Place, Could Improve on Food and Service"
My mom and dad have lived here since August 2017. I noticed a lot of the staff have left since then. The place is new, looks good and has cool stuff. You don't have to pay extra to move in, which is great. But the food isn't the best and the service isn't great either. Considering how much we pay, that should be better. On the bright side, the person in charge of activities is good!

Hurt and Never Forget
"One Place's Problem is Another's Success Story"
Our interaction with Harmony Square of the Crossings was a whole big mess of physical, mental, and financial stress. After just a week of having our relative with them, we got a bunch of confusing feedback. * They said reassuring things about how our loved one was safe and they knew how to handle tough situations; * They reached out to us to handle our loved one, suggesting that we should be the experts; * They made promises to take care of difficult situations and didn't come through; * They gave us an ultimatum to remove our loved one, no matter the circumstances. Luckily, Poet's Walk took in our relative, the outcast. Because of their professional care plan, our loved one is getting back to a normal life. Thanks, guys.

"Smooth and pleasant senior living experience from start to finish"
We found this place through A Place for Mom, and the whole experience was great. Our senior living advisor helped us find exactly what we needed. The woman who gave us a tour at The Crossings was really good at her job and had a nice, warm personality. I moved my dad in and set everything up, and it all went really smoothly. They offer a lot of good options for residents. I ate there three times and thought the food was excellent. We're happy with everything, and my dad is doing well.

I really liked the common areas here. They have a beauty salon, a cafe, and a fitness center. The meals are varied to meet the residents' needs. The layout fit my mother's needs, and everything was clean. Most importantly, I felt this would be a safe place for her.

"Happy Residents, Friendly Staff, and Affordable Care!"
First, there’s no smell of waste anywhere! Second, everyone is friendly—from the administrators to the caregivers, maintenance, and food services. Third, the residents are happy, which is rare when looking for a new home for Mom or Dad. Fourth, they provide a clear, step-by-step breakdown of all costs that’s easy to follow. Fifth, they always keep their promises and go out of their way to help you and your loved ones. Sixth, it’s very affordable compared to other places in the area. Overall, I’m thrilled I got my Mom into this place. It took some time, but she’s happier here than she was in her old apartment (though she might not admit it).

"Neglectful Staffing and Management at Assisted Living Facility"
The staffing at this assisted living facility is a serious problem. It feels like you can never find anyone when you need them. The nursing staff always seems to be running from room to room. The administrative staff doesn't seem to be around or helpful. The hardworking nurses are always trying to make up for the admin's lack of responsibility and nobody has a clue what the management is up to. This place definitely lacks clear communication and strong leadership. The rooms only get cleaned twice a week, but trust me, some of the bathrooms could do with daily cleaning. As far as I know, it's up to the nursing staff to clean when the housekeepers aren't working. Don't they have enough on their plates already? This facility allows residents to stay even if they clearly need to be in a nursing home with professional care. But it seems like they only care about getting their money, not about the people living here. Mismanagement is obvious, and it's clear that they don't value or respect their nursing staff. I wonder if there's some kind of rules being broken here. They advertise 24-hour nursing staff, but there are several instances when there's no nurse scheduled or present on site. They just have a medication aide or tech covering for a licensed nurse, especially in the evening and night shifts. In my view, this is when you need a licensed nurse the most, to handle any unexpected situations. Plus, the front doors are often left open overnight, allowing anyone to walk in, and there isn't always someone at the front desk. That's a major security issue! In my opinion, get your loved ones out of here, or don't take them there at all. The cost to live here is way more than the level of attention and care your loved ones will receive. .

"Devastated Daughter Reports Care Facility's Neglect and Poor Management"
Bad Management and Neglect in Assisted Living Facility" This place can't keep their staff – they're always leaving. They messed up big time when they didn't order my mom's medication, causing her to run dry for three days. Even one day without her meds is risky! The emergency alarm system in the units is faulty - or maybe the staff just doesn't respond to it. My poor mom fell in the bathroom during the night and couldn't get help because the alarm didn't work. She was stuck there on the cold floor for three hours until she managed to drag herself to the phone and call 911. When the paramedics came, they got her back into bed. The next day, the staff had no clue that the paramedics had been there! And they even denied that it happened! I had to show them the paramedics' report before they'd believe me, but they still didn't apologize. And believe it or not, they reduced the laundry and bathing services that were initially promised because they lack enough staff. I think it's due to bad management. A big heads-up for you: If you have a loved one who needs hospice care and stays above the ground-floor, they won't let hospice in because they say it's against fire safety rules. It nearly drove me crazy trying to find another facility that would allow hospice services and transferring my mom there as she was dying. It was a nightmare.

"Avoid this facility - Poor Service and Understaffed."
Badly run, with staff that aren't appreciated. It can take the caregivers over 10 minutes, if not more, to get to residents' rooms. There's always not enough people working. It's hard to find assistance when it's necessary. Employees do the bare minimum amount of work. The rooms aren't well-kept or tidy.

"A Wonderful Place to Live"
The Crossings at Falls Run is an awesome place to live. The independent living apartments are big and bright with lots of natural light. The staffs are always around, chatting with residents and spreading joy with their laughter and hugs. The pub has Happy Hour every night before a tasty dinner made by one of the best chefs in Fredericksburg. The assisted living apartments are also spacious, with a caring and dedicated staff to help out. It’s clean, friendly, modern, and definitely worth checking out!

"Slow responsiveness, but good variety and modern facilities."
Their response time isn't always quick; they don't come right away. When we were nearby, they responded faster to the call bell. They offer a good variety of activities. The food was enjoyable, about a 4 out of 5. The facility is brand new, cleaner, and more modern. However, we noticed the sheets weren't changed regularly as promised. Once we mentioned it, they fixed the issue. You have to stay attentive and proactive. We chose them for their activities and libraries on each floor, plus their proximity to us.

"So far, I’d say it’s really good"
So far, I’d say it’s really good. I think there’s a little confusion at the front desk sometimes. They advertise events that the staff doesn’t always know about, but it’s just small stuff like that. It might be because the place is new. They always post activities on a calendar, so you know what’s going on during the month.
