The Jefferson

"Convenient location, lots of activities, rising costs"
Jefferson is a great facility in a convenient location. Nearby restaurants, shopping, healthcare. Lots of on-site activities and outings. Costs are rising, typical for full-service places.

"The Jefferson was disappointing for my family."
My family member lived at The Jefferson before. It wasn't great. We thought about moving them somewhere else.

"Poor Care, Horrible Food and Rude Staff at This Facility."
This place is an absolute mess. They advertise themselves as a facility with "skilled nursing," but it was clear when my mom moved in, that was a lie. They only had a nursing assistant around who couldn't even give my mom her necessary medication. The food was plain awful and there wasn't a bathroom close at all. Moreover, staff members were shouting at patients. Don't trust ANY of the positive reviews of this dump. I wouldn't even dream of bringing my dog here, much less someone I care about!

"Mixed Feelings"
I toured this community and loved the environment. However, two things changed my mind: you had to buy the apartment instead of renting, and there seemed to be an age requirement. It wasn't as active and engaging as I hoped.

"Hidden fee raises condo price, misleads potential buyers"
The condo's advertised price doesn't include an extra, mandatory monthly fee. If you're over 55 and don't need meals and other extras, I don't understand why you're forced to pay it. If you multiply this fee by a 30-year mortgage, it adds up significantly. Why isn't the condo listed at this higher price to save people time? This fee should be optional, or at least factored into the online listed price. That way, people know up front that the condo's total cost is much more than what's first advertised. Be honest.

My mom found it too city-like, and the elevators were troublesome during our visit, we had to use the stairs.

"Great Value Assisted Living with Tons of Activities"
My mom’s been at The Jefferson for years. At first, it was tough, but now she loves it. The staff is great, and there are tons of activities. Even though it’s pricey, it’s worth it.

"Happy Home for Mom"
My mom’s been at The Jefferson for a while. It was tough for her at first, but now she loves it. She’s grateful for all the help and the staff are great. The activities are amazing, too many to list! Some staff are really caring and make her smile a lot. She was worried about the cost, but now she sees it’s worth it.

"Costly Care Facility Needs Cleanup and Organization"
The living spaces are quite tiny. The building looks a bit dirty and could use a fresh coat of paint on the doors and in the hallways. The activities room in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) needs tidying up - the book and game shelves are super unorganized. The SNF is small but costs a lot of money.

"Underwhelming Visit and Overpriced Living at The Jefferson"
After scheduling our visit to The Jefferson, no one got in touch with us again. When we came, it turned out nobody knew about our appointment. On top of that, their tour guide wasn't there. Luckily, a friendly lady stepped in and showed us around. The rooms are pretty big, but they didn't have a walk-in or roll-in shower. It seems like they have the basics covered, including good physical therapy staff. We never saw any residents around, so it's hard for me to say if people like it here or how the staff interact with them. Personally, I think the place is gloomy and costs more than another assisted living home nearby.

"Friendly Tour of a Nice Facility"
We were supposed to meet someone at 10:00, but they weren't available. However, the manager on duty gave us a tour. The facility was very nice.

"Good Rehab and Staff at Jefferson, but Costly and Persistent Fees"
My husband stayed at Jefferson for rehab. I thought about buying a condo there during that time, but the monthly costs were too high. The price of the condo, monthly fee, and property taxes (though low) amounted to a significant total. I discovered that if you move or pass away, the monthly charge keeps coming even if the condo is empty while it's for sale. This was a significant deterrent for me. I'm not sure about the costs for assisted living or Alzheimer's care. The rehab therapy team was great, the staff was friendly, but the medical and nursing care could be better.

"Inefficient Care and Unnecessary Expenses"
My mom was at this place for therapy after an injury. They sent her home because they believed she couldn't do the exercises due to her broken leg. She was unable to bear weight on it. But after moving to a different facility, we learned that her doctor had actually prescribed exercises where she needed to put weight on her leg. At this place, the quality of care was inconsistent. It usually took them a good 10-15 minutes to respond. Even after she left, they were supposed to arrange a special bed for her, but we waited two months for it. I don't think we should have to cover the bills considering they didn't really help.

"Wonderful community, friendly staff!"
We moved into a wonderful community. They invite us to join the activities, but we haven’t had the chance yet. The staff is great and really helpful. We would recommend others to move here.

"Mixed Feelings on Living at The Jefferson - Arlington, VA"
This place has pretty furniture in the shared spaces. There's a strong chlorine smell in the lobby because of the warm pool, and the dining room smells greasy. Paying the monthly and HOA fees doesn't seem worth it. It looks nice and has good facilities, but the money side isn't great. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars.

"Urban Senior Living: Great Staff, Location & Fun Activities"
After spending a short time at The Jefferson, I think it’s a really good place for older people to live in the city. I’m giving it a good rating now, but I believe it could get even better. The people who work here are amazing, it’s right next to cool city spots and easy to get around with public transport, and there’s always something fun to do. The food choices aren’t huge, but the menu changes and the meals are mostly tasty. For fun at the facility, there’s a small pool, a hot tub, and a little gym. All in all, I’m pretty pleased with choosing The Jefferson for city living.

"Great place with tasty food and happy residents"
Great place in an area with shops, Metro nearby, and many options for living space. The food choices were tasty and plenty! Met an excited resident in the beauty shop who gave high marks after living in another facility.

"Friendly Staff and Good Food Make for Positive Experience"
This place is pretty good overall. The people who take care of my dad and everyone else there are nice and really care about them. The food is tasty, and they have lots of fun stuff to do. One thing they could do better is to have more staff around. Sometimes, I had to get someone else to help my mom because they didn't have enough people working.

"Cosmetically appealing but lacks adequate care for residents' needs."
The place looked nice, but they couldn't meet our needs. I didn't know what the care would be like, but it was nice. People say not to just judge by looks; care matters.

"The Jefferson is Fantastic and Dignified"
The Jefferson is a wonderful, dignified community. Unlike many other places, it feels vibrant and fun from the moment you walk in. The staff was helpful and patient throughout the process. What really worked for us is that it's a condo community. The salespeople treated it like a real estate transaction, showing respect and professionalism. This made my grandfather feel in control of this big step into the next phase of his life, unlike other places where he felt he'd lose control.

" The Jefferson Senior Living Facility in Arlington, VA"
This assisted living facility is perfect for active seniors and those who are slowing down. It's conveniently located in an urban area with shops, a mall, Starbucks, and restaurants nearby. The facility itself is lovely, featuring a nice restaurant where residents can enjoy one meal a day. The condo units are designed with the elderly in mind, with wide doorways for walkers. Despite the market challenges, these units offer great value. The monthly fees cover essentials like linen changes, cleaning, meals, and an alert system. Plus, there are plenty of daily activities and field trips to enjoy!

"Didn't want to add on another property to the list"
This place seemed nice, but it works like this: you buy an apartment, and later your family has to sell it. Honestly, it felt like too much work for us right now. I didn't want to buy another property while we're still trying to sell our home, especially since there was a long waiting list.

"Assisted Living Facility: Spacious but Navigation Challenging, Outsourced Care"
This place is really nice. The lunch we had during our visit was super tasty, and the people living there seem really happy and taken care of. The treadmill didn't have side rails, just handles in the front. There are 300 residents, and my mom thought the building was too big for her to get around easily, plus some parts weren't well lit like the hallways and elevator buttons. The apartment they showed us was a good size, with one bedroom and a living room, and it even had a washer and dryer. But I found out later that any extra care needed would be from outside providers, not from the facility itself. They have a system where residents wear an alert device, and the fire safety measures seem well thought out, like these metal pieces on every door that go up at night and come down when someone opens the door in the morning. If the metal piece isn't down, security checks on the resident to make sure everything's okay. The only extra food available are coffee and tea during the day, no snacks.
