"Looks nice, but bad care and unfriendly staff"

We visited this place while looking for an Independent Living facility for our family member. At first, it was our second choice, but when my loved one went there for rehab, it was terrible. They're remodeling, so it'll look nice, but the care isn't good and the staff isn't friendly. Plus, it's more expensive.

"Assisted Living with Wonderful Staff Despite Renovations"

The renovations are way behind what they promised during the sales presentation, and the food is disappointing. My father passed away while he was there, but the assisted living staff took excellent care of him during his 30-day stay. Despite the tough time with renovations, I would still recommend The Virginian to others because the people here are wonderful.

Staff changes, ongoing construction, improving dining quality with new chef.

"Luxury Tour, Pricey Choice"

Our family took an in-person tour, and it was really nice. The community is super fancy, but it costs a lot, so we couldn't move our loved one there.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living During Renovations"

We've had some good and bad experiences here. The care they provide is helpful, from independent living to nursing care. The first staff we met were really friendly and helped us decide to come here. But, they're doing a lot of construction right now, which makes things messy and confusing. Cleanliness is a problem, and some areas are closed off. It's tough to move in with all the changes happening. Communication about decision-making has been a challenge. Staffing changes have led to temporary employees from corporate. The new chef means the food quality varies. Things might improve once renovations are done, but for now, it's a bit tough.

"Construction and memory care suggestions made it not a fit"

When we toured the facility, there was a lot of construction. They suggested memory care for my loved one, but that would limit her too much. The tour was good, but it wasn’t the right fit for us.

"Great Care, But Extra Fees and Dinner Issues"

Make sure you know the difference between independent living and assisted living. They gave us more care than we thought, but we didn’t expect extra fees for those services. I’m excited for when the renovations are done and there are more dining rooms. I’m also looking forward to more activities once Covid restrictions are over. The staff have been very responsive. My loved one hasn’t liked the dinners lately, especially the meat, but she loves the breakfasts.

"The Virginian: Outstanding, caring staff, excellent therapy, and food."

Our 99-year-old mom recently came home after spending over 5 weeks at The Virginian for rehab following hip surgery. Words like extraordinary, outstanding, and caring don’t even begin to describe the care she received. Many of us were worried it might be the end for her, given how hard it is for elderly people to recover from such accidents. But The Virginian's staff exceeded all our expectations. Their care and encouragement really boosted Mom's spirits and helped her recover enough to come back home. Every staff member was dedicated, offering great therapy and support. We saw them in action through nearly all of her therapy sessions, and their commitment was clear. Mom even praised the food, especially the soup! We rate The Virginian 10 stars out of five. Special thanks to all the amazing staff and volunteers who made a difference.

"A Smooth Transition"

My mom's doing okay. The move-in went well. Things were great until she got sick, but they're handling it fine.

"Friendly staff and great facility, but needs more activities"

The staff here is always helpful and friendly. They really go out of their way to assist and solve problems. New residents get a lot of help with their "onboarding" process, including personal guides for the first few weeks. The food is generally good, but lunch can be repetitive, while dinner is usually great. The facility is very clean, safe, and quiet, and the library is excellent. The only downsides are the limited activities, especially trips outside the building, and the medical processes for independent residents can be confusing. You can access everything, but it takes some effort. Overall, after looking at many places in NOVA over a year, we chose The Virginian and feel it was the right choice for my mom.

"Great staff, good food, needs more activities."

**Review:** The staff is consistently engaged, helpful, and cheerful—there’s not a single negative person among them. They really go the extra mile to assist and anticipate issues. The onboarding process is particularly good, with staff guiding new residents through the first few weeks. The food is decent; lunch is the weakest with repetitive options, but dinner is usually excellent. The facility is extremely safe and clean, with a pleasant and quiet setting. The library is a great feature. **Criticisms:** More activities, especially outside trips, would be nice. The medical services for independent residents are a bit scattered and can be confusing to access. **Summary:** After reviewing many facilities, we chose The Virginian for its overall balance. I still believe it was the right choice for my mom. **Summary Phrase:**

"Avoid this place! No one responds, they don't care! Run!"

This place never picks up the phone or responds to emails. They don't seem to care about what you need. If you can, steer clear of this place.

"Avoid! They're Utterly Unresponsive and Uncaring!"

There's no response to phone calls or emails from this place. They're totally indifferent to anyone's circumstances. If you can, escape.

"Liked the facility, but room availability and cost were issues"

They didn't have a room ready in three days, but I liked it a lot. They offer a lot of Parkinson’s care, and if we had more time, we probably would have chosen this place. It was also a bit more expensive.

"Great place if room was available and cost was lower"

I really liked the place, but they didn’t have a room ready right away (we only had 3 days). They offer a lot of services for Parkinson’s patients. If we had more time, we probably would have chosen this place, but it was also more expensive.
