"Mixed Experience: Good Assisted Living, Poor Memory Care"
The Sales department said we could stay here until our preferred residence, which was still being built, was ready (between 6 weeks to 6 months). The Waterford location was perfect, but the memory care unit smelled bad and didn't have enough staff or any visible activities. At the end of each month, the director would call and pressure us to sign a lease and pay a community fee, saying corporate wouldn't let us stay otherwise. After three months of broken promises to fix the smell and the worry of being kicked out, we moved. I wouldn't recommend the memory care. The assisted living part was highly recommended by close friends.

"Disappointed with The Waterford's Business Practices"
In a past month (date unspecified), I asked if my mom's veteran benefits could be boosted up to give her more financial assistance. Regrettably, the folks at the facility never got around to it. On top of this, they overcharged my mom every month starting from a certain point in time and continued until she passed away. What's worse, we were billed for the month following her passing, with money getting pulled from her account. They promised to reverse it, but nothing has changed up to now. Whenever I seek answers, the typical response I always get is, "I'll get back to you," but progress is non-existent. Calls to their listed number seem like a dead end, as it leads nowhere useful. I've dropped over a dozen emails with no avail. For the record, their caring nature towards my mother was never a concern. However, considering their questionable business tactics, I wouldn't suggest placing a loved one in The Waterford.

"Mixed Feelings about The Waterford at Virginia Beach"
My family visited The Waterford at Virginia Beach, not me. They told me it was super clean and nice, but the private rooms felt cramped, more like closets.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The staff here is really great. The only issue is that she keeps complaining about not enough chairs in the dining room and the food isn't very good. Overall, we'd tell other families about this place based on our experience so far. It's been good. The hardest thing for mom was leaving her home. Getting used to assisted living has been a gradual process for her.

"Assisted Living Review"
I visited the community, and they did a good job 'selling' their place during the tour. They explained all the services they offer. However, there are areas for improvement. Communication needs work, and the level of care promised in the agreement wasn't delivered. Maintenance issues, cleanliness, and food services also need attention. For instance, despite paying extra for higher-level care, there was no emergency oxygen available on-site. Staff were hard to find, and promises of assistance with mobility and restroom visits went unfulfilled. My mom's room had broken items that were never fixed, and the utensils and plates were always dirty. The food was bland and poorly cooked, with repetitive, sometimes inedible meals. Room cleaning was infrequent, and they didn't even have the right sheets for my mom's bed. Be cautious with paperwork; what they say may not match what you sign. Their financial practices are confusing, and they don't provide clear information about what you're owed. Overall, they fell short of expectations.

"Short Staffed Facility Fails Dietary Needs, Lacks Trained Caregivers"
Our tour of this assisted living facility was okay, but my family member didn't have a great experience during the short time they stayed. It was obvious the place didn't have enough staff. Weirdly enough, the head of the place was also acting like the head cook while the other bosses were working as waiters in the cafeteria. Sadly, they didn't know how to accommodate my family member's special diet. Because of their mistake, my family member ended up having to go the hospital with medical problems related to the food they ate. All in all, we weren't satisfied with our experience at all. We noticed that the caregivers on the lowest level didn't have the necessary training they needed.

"Helpful Staff!"
I visited this place recently, and I have no complaints. The staff did a great job presenting the community and answered all my questions in detail. The open floor plan was easy to navigate. Although it wasn’t the right fit for my loved one, I’d recommend it to others.

"My Visit Revealed Mixed Feelings"
I went on a tour of the assisted living facility, and when I arrived at the community, I noticed that it was quite dark. Something about it didn't feel like the right fit for me. Despite that, the tour was informative, and they provided me with useful information about the community.

"A Pleasant Tour with Budget Considerations"
I had a nice tour of this community. Everyone was friendly and kind. The place looked clean. The staff I met were polite. Many factors influenced where to move my mother, and while this community is pleasant, I found another that fit our budget better.

"Comfortable Assisted Living with Independent Care Concerns"
We toured The Waterford on Tuesday, and met with the staff. It’s a newer place with spacious rooms and about 116 residents. The month-to-month cost was reasonable, and the overall ambiance was very pleasant. Our only concern is that they start at the assisted level, and we need independent care for mom and dad. Still, it’s a nice place overall.

"Nobody Cares About Residents?"
I wasn't impressed when I first visited. I showed up for a tour and nobody was around to guide me or explain things to me. To make things worse, I saw two residents with their faces in their meals and not a single nurse or aide was helping them. There were staff present, but they did nothing.

Very Disappointed
"Avoid Pacifica: Unfulfilled Promises & Neglected Care"
My family found that the promises made by the staff at Pacifica didn't come through in reality. The number of caregivers was way too low for the amount of elderly residents. Staff members were always coming and going and sometimes wouldn't even show up, especially during the weekends. The only time we noticed help was when the residents were being taken to meals. Call bells would go unanswered for what seemed to be an eternity. The higher ups in charge were no help, mostly full of excuses. My advice to anyone considering Pacifica: Stay away! They don't pay enough attention to the people in their care.

"Great Job - Needs Better Communication"
I would give them a 9 out of 10. My only complaint is with the nursing staff. They don't seem to communicate well between the night shift and the day shift. Other than that, they're doing a great job! They have tons of activities.

" Clare Bridge Outshines Pacifica with Better Care and Atmosphere "
I really liked how big Pacifica was. I didn't interact much with the caregivers directly. I think they'd do a good job, but after seeing Clare Bridge, I prefer it more.
