"Feel at home, helpful staff; friendly residents, happy with move."
We are new residents and already feel at home in this wonderful community. Our cottage was remodeled to our specifications, and all the staff were extremely helpful with the planning and completion. The WLR team ensured our move-in went smoothly. Activities are limited because of COVID-19, but the staff has done an excellent job considering the restrictions. The residents are very friendly and welcoming. We are very happy we made the move.

"A Disappointing Visit to Westminster Assisted Living"
Over the holiday, I visited my aunt at Westminster Assisted Living. She stays in the memory care unit, which they call “The Neighborhood” for some reason. When I walked in, I couldn’t find any staff. An elderly patient sat slumped in a wheelchair, almost sliding off the seat. Clearly, this person lacked the strength to correct their position. They kept calling out for help, and it was distressing to witness. I decided to approach the patient and offer assistance. However, they seemed terrified, and I made sure they wouldn’t fall. As I continued searching for my aunt and staff, I encountered more people confined to chairs throughout the center. Someone even pounded on the locked door to the neighborhood. While my aunt has received good care in the past, the problem lies in nursing and memory care. There simply aren’t enough staff members, and those present struggle to keep up. The chronic understaffing has worsened recently due to cutbacks. I worry about my aunt’s future. To make matters worse, the Executive Director, head of HR, and several nursing staff members have suddenly left. The marketing department paints a rosy picture of the amenities, but an unscheduled tour of the assisted living and memory care areas reveals a different story. If more people saw the conditions firsthand, they’d hesitate to entrust their last days to this facility. I felt horrified and heartbroken witnessing the plight of my aunt and fellow patients. I’m at a loss for what to do next. Sharing this experience is essential to raise awareness and advocate for better care.

"Urgent Staff Shortage at Assisted Living"
During my holiday visit to my aunt at Westminster’s memory care unit, aptly named “The Neighborhood,” I was met with a concerning absence of staff. An elderly resident, helplessly slumped in a wheelchair, was calling out for assistance, which was nowhere to be found. This scene of neglect was just the beginning of a troubling pattern throughout the facility. In the past, my aunt’s experience with assisted living was positive, thanks to the dedicated staff. However, the nursing and memory care services are now facing a dire shortage of personnel. The staff that remains is overwhelmed, and recent cutbacks have only intensified the issue. To my dismay, I learned that key management and numerous nurses have also departed. The marketing team excels at showcasing the facility’s features, but a candid look at the living conditions, especially in the assisted living and memory care sections, would reveal a starkly different reality. The lack of adequate care has left me deeply concerned for my aunt’s well-being and the welfare of her fellow residents. This experience compels me to urge others to thoroughly investigate the level of care provided here.
