"Aegis Assisted Living: Mixed Experience with Communication and Costs"
Most of the food tasted bad and came from cans. I felt sad for my husband who had to eat it. The caregivers were great, especially when was very sick. But the communication was a big problem—too little and too late. The staff changed a lot. Aegis seems to care more about money than people. The top bosses get paid a lot, while the hardworking staff at the bottom get very little. It's like a joke. When needed care all the time, the monthly fees went up a lot. But after a visit from his son and the manager, the fees went down. I don't understand how that works from a business point of view. The place is nice, but I won't recommend it. One thing is clear: having someone to speak up for you is really important. I can't imagine how 's care would have been without me yelling all the time. I felt sorry for people who don't have family or visitors. This is probably true everywhere. It was a sad and hard experience for both of us. But at least he was safe, which is what mattered. The hospice team was great during his last days.
