"Happy Living at a Safe and Fun Senior Home"

This is a great place for seniors, especially if you like walking. It's in a very safe area and offers lots of activities like music, trips, and talks. I think it's way better than being alone in a house.

"Classy, well-kept place with friendly staff and great amenities."

My mother lived at Aljoya for over 3 years. The staff and the environment were excellent. It was a classy and well-maintained place to live. The staff knew everyone's name, including mine. I highly recommend Aljoya. The food was great, and there was a pool and Jacuzzi to enjoy. Parking was also very easy.

"Caring Staff and Excellent Service"

After my mom passed away, my dad felt really lonely living by himself. When we visited, he’d take us to Lilly’s for breakfast and show us all the cool things at Aljoya. He’d introduce us to the friendly staff who always greeted him warmly. We could tell he wanted to live there, and he just needed a little help to make it happen, which we did. He moved in just in time. For the first year, he was really happy and pretty independent. Later, as his health got worse, he got the extra support he needed. The staff were always trustworthy, patient, kind, supportive, and informative. I have the highest respect for the organization, the staff, and the quality of care they provide.

"A Fantastic Choice with Great Staff and Fun Activities"

Moving to Aljoya over two years ago was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I never imagined I’d be so happy living in a retirement home. We often hear about the amazing people who live in retirement homes, but the staff at Aljoya are just as incredible. They always go the extra mile to make sure the residents are happy. They’re also very friendly with each other, which helps create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I’ve made some great friends here and I’m excited to meet more. Our monthly meetings, both those organized by Aljoya and those run by the residents, are a great way to share ideas and solve any issues. There are also many fun trips and events to enjoy, like root beer floats, wine & cheese parties, floor parties, and more. There’s so much to be grateful for here that it’s hard to list everything. Maybe we should just change the name to Enjoya.

"Amazing Staff and Fun Activities Make Aljoya a Great Choice"

Moving to Aljoya over two years ago was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I didn’t think I could be so happy living in a retirement home, but I was wrong. We often hear about the interesting people you meet in retirement homes, but rarely do we talk about the staff. At Aljoya, the staff really cares and makes sure the residents are well taken care of. They are always responsive and do their best to help. Plus, they get along with each other, which creates a friendly atmosphere. I’ve made great friends here and enjoy meeting new ones. We have monthly meetings where residents and staff discuss and solve issues. There are lots of fantastic trips and events, like root beer floats, wine and cheese parties, and themed gatherings, which offer plenty of chances to socialize. There’s so much to be thankful for here that I could go on forever. Maybe we should just rename it.

"Impressed by condos, activities, and friendly staff"

I toured this place with my mom and was really impressed. The condos are great with nice layouts, kitchens, and bathrooms. My mom liked the pool and all the fun activities. Lilly's restaurant had amazing food that was fresh and local. The staff is friendly and energetic too.

"Wonderful Living with Great Meals and Plenty of Activities"

My husband and I have been at Aljoya Mercer Island for just over a year, and we love it here! We no longer have to worry about lawn mowing, cooking dinner, or handling repairs. Since I have Celiac disease, it's important that I avoid gluten, but Chef Jonathan and his team make sure I stay safe from gluten reactions. Our kitchen serves meals that everyone can enjoy, with a menu full of healthy choices, daily specials, and many other options. We get 25 dinners included in our monthly fee. There are daily exercise classes, lectures, and plenty of activities. Transportation is also available. Mercer Island is a small town, so we can easily walk to stores and nearby parks.

"A great retirement choice."

Aljoya on Mercer Island is a lovely place right in the heart of town. It’s perfect for seniors who enjoy walking to nearby shops, parks, and the waterfront. The restaurant and coffee area are great for meeting other residents and visitors, which helps combat loneliness. They offer singing, games, swimming, exercise, and trips. Plus, you don’t have to worry about plumbing or maintenance issues—those get fixed quickly. Honestly, there probably aren’t many better retirement options out there!

"A Long-Time Resident’s Review: Aljoya Mercer Island is Top-Notch"

I’ve been living at Aljoya Mercer Island since it opened in September 2008. I moved here from Boston because one of my sons and his family live on the Island. When choosing a Senior Living Residence SLR, I think there are three main things to look at. First is the building itself and its amenities, like the dining area, pool, theater, conference rooms, garage, etc. Second are the rules and how the place is run daily. But the most important thing, in my opinion, is the people who work here, including the management and staff. In all three of these areas, I think Aljoya is excellent. Many places might look good and have nice designs, but Aljoya really excels when it comes to how it operates and the quality of its staff. What I really appreciate is the great care I receive. I enjoy a varied and tasty dinner menu I handle breakfast and lunch myself, a diverse social program with bus trips, and I've even found some great bridge partners. Apartment repairs are handled quickly luckily, they’ve only been minor so far, and the medical care is top-notch when needed. In short, this is a fantastic place to live.

"A beautiful, caring place that truly made a difference"

I’m so grateful for the joy the Mercer Island Aljoya family brought to my father, my siblings, and me during his last year and a half. My father passed away peacefully at Aljoya on August 31st at age 84, with us by his side. A couple of years before, we were really worried about his health and safety. He was living alone in his home of thirty years, struggling with Parkinson’s disease, and had fallen several times. He found it hard to manage everyday tasks like hygiene, cooking, and getting to appointments. It was stressful for me, living nearby and always wondering if he was okay. His only activity was watching TV. We started looking for other options and a friend, who was a resident at Aljoya, highly recommended it. Although my father didn’t want to move, we persuaded him to at least visit. In the end, he agreed to sell his house and move to Mercer Island Aljoya. The place was stunning—bright, clean, and beautiful! The staff’s mission and compassion were evident in everything they did. He made friends, went on trips, shopped, exercised, and enjoyed playing bocci ball. He loved dining at Lily’s with friends, and the food was excellent. My father had a two-bedroom apartment, so my sister could stay with her dog. His apartment overlooked a lovely garden and was safe, comfortable, and peaceful. My father, who was kind and funny, could share his warmth with everyone around him, making his life fulfilling. Everyone at Aljoya exceeded our expectations. When my father had a stroke and wished not to be kept alive artificially, we brought him back to Aljoya. For a week, we lived there while he passed away. It felt like one big family was taking care of us and my dad. I can’t thank the Mercer Island Aljoya family enough for the quality of my father’s life and the comfort they provided in his final days. Aljoya broke every stereotype of a retirement community. My family and I will be their most enthusiastic supporters.
