I've been living in this town for 50 years. I enjoy it here, but my family is no longer around. If a friend asked me about this community and the building, I'd say it's nice and the people are friendly. I've made some new friends.

The Avamere at Port Townsend looks really clean when we visit. Our loved one likes the meals, even though they're institutional. Lots of activities offered, and we'd recommend it to other families. Overall, no complaints about the value.

"Great care and improving staffing at Avamere"
I've been living at Avamere for about 2 years. I'm really impressed with the new director, [name removed]. They’ve struggled with hiring staff, but they're working on getting more people to join. The caregivers and dining staff work really hard and are very responsive.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Experience"
It's a nice place with a good price. The only issue is that there are a lot of people wandering around and sometimes napping in public areas. My one-bedroom apartment is spacious with a full kitchen and a lovely patio overlooking a forest. On the independent living side, everyone has a patio, but on the assisted living side, they don't. The apartments are similar, and the food is great.

"Overlooked Residents and Poor Services At This Assisted Living"
This facility is awful for any loved one. The meals are merely frozen, then reheaten later. The activities are laughable, revolving mainly around serving wine and liquor to the residents. The staff is practically invisible, outrageously understaffed to the point where it's often just one individual responsible for over 60 people. Get away from this place as fast as you can if you truly care about your family member.

Truly let down by the service and management. My mother was a resident here for half a year last year. They consistently failed to meet her necessities. The employees had bad attitudes. The whole place reeked like pee. A wretched experience.

My mom lives here, but it hasn't been great. They don't have enough staff during the day, and things need to improve. Meal times are a problem too—she's waited over an hour for food. Hoping for changes soon.

I've been here for a week. The people, both staff and residents, are friendly. The food is good with lots of choices. The hallways and public rooms are very clean and don't smell. Activities are a bit hit or miss because schedules are made in advance and need adjusting.

"Staff turnover, understaffing, and maintenance issues detract from resident experience."
This place has a lot of workers leaving all the time, especially important ones like nurses, care coordinators, the person in charge of activities, and the cook. There aren't enough people working here. The food isn't very good either. The elevator doesn't work a lot, which makes it hard for people who can't walk well to get around. The dishwasher in the kitchen hasn't been working for a long time. They put activities on the schedule every day, but most of the time they don't actually happen.

The people living there looked really happy on our tour. They were busy with lots of activities and seemed to feel at home. The bedrooms and bathrooms were big and very clean.

"Nice but Isolated Community with Friendly Staff"
This place is nice, but it's a bit isolated. It's surrounded by trees and has a view of the town. It's a new community, and the staff were friendly. They're close to a hospital. I saw a nice two-bedroom apartment with a big porch.

"Clean, Friendly, and Fun with Good Food and Price"
So far, things are going well. The place is very clean, and everyone is friendly. They have bingo, card games, and trips. They’ve been quick to respond if there’s an issue. The price is a bit lower than the national average. The food seems good, no complaints there. Besides lowering the price, there’s nothing else I’d change.
