Brookdale Courtyard Puyallup

"Cozy atmosphere with good activities, but food quality needs improvement"
Brookdale Courtyard feels really caring and warm, and it's the coziest place we visited. Our loved one has been ill, so she hasn't joined the activities, but they look good on the board. The dining service is fine, but the food quality isn't always the best.

"Great place for loved ones, safe and responsive staff"
I definitely recommend this place for your family members. It's a nice, safe, and secure community. They made sure my loved one's room was completely new and fresh for them. The staff is really good at answering any questions or concerns we had. Brookdale Courtyard can accommodate up to 70 residents, which was a big advantage for us.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Management Improvement"
This place has really nice staff who take care of residents well. But, management problems and residents being out often are issues.

"Cozy, Friendly Place with a Comfortable Atmosphere"
I visited on [date removed]. It was really nice and I liked it a lot. The place is older but feels cozy. Everyone was friendly, and I’ve set up a lunch with my dad.

"Empty atmosphere, unhelpful staff, lacking warmth; unsatisfactory assisted living experience"
I visited this place while searching for a home for my dad, but it felt quite empty. The lobby seemed deserted, and there weren't many residents around to chat with. The staff didn't seem interested in interacting either. Nobody guided me around; instead, I had to find the activities director, who couldn't answer my questions. I visited on a Saturday, maybe not the best time as it seemed there was limited staff. It didn't feel like a cozy environment, although everything appeared clean. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk to any residents to get their opinions, which would have been reassuring for me.

"Friendly, Clean Assisted Living with Great Amenities in Puyallup"
Brookdale Courtyard Puyallup is a good fit for my mom. They accept Medicaid, which helps. It's clean with friendly staff who care well. Meals are tasty with variety. Activities and bus service are great. Nice outdoors and seating.

"Mixed Impressions at Assisted Living Community"
When we visited, the community looked nice. The friendly and knowledgeable staff offered daily activities and allowed pets. However, it didn't feel right for my loved one.

"Mixed experience: Friendly residents, management and staffing issues persist."
Some workers are really nice, but others are not friendly at all and should be let go. When we tell the people in charge about our worries, they don’t seem to fix things for good. Different parts of the place blame each other instead of fixing problems together. Good workers leave because they don’t get paid much or because the working conditions are bad. I enjoy talking to the people who live here; they’re the best part. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is how nice they are. Most of the people I’ve talked to don’t like the people who run the place. I found out it took the people in charge a whole year to make one person leave because they were causing problems and hurting others. The people in charge say they don’t have enough money to buy some basic things the place needs. They don’t have any batteries for the emergency buttons. My parent probably doesn’t get treated well because they can’t move around and talk to others. One worker has such a bad attitude that other workers have to watch her all the time, but she’s still not nice. There aren’t enough workers, so when we need help during meals, we have to wait a long time. And we have to pay more than $4,000 every month for all of this. I’ll say more after I move my parent out of here. If your parent can move around, do things, and likes being with others, it’s okay. Otherwise, don’t choose this place. I’m sorry I sound angry, but we were tricked. I don’t think they’ll change unless we take legal action, but if I can stop one parent from being left here, it’s worth it.

"Avoid This Assisted Living!"
The place was dirty, stinky, and food was gross. Aides unfriendly. Residents ignored when seeking help.

"Assisted Living Facility Fails on Promised Care and Supervision"
The folks who sell the place make it sound great, but it's not. There's no boss around on weekends or after hours, and just a few helpers for over 60 people. They say they're open all the time, but the building's set up for folks who need a bit of help, not constant care. You can't even peek into the rooms. Twice, they sent our family member to the hospital even though they said they wouldn't when he just wanted comfort care. They're all about the money and promising round-the-clock help, but they don't deliver. Our loved one didn't eat or drink for five days, and they only told us when he fell and got hurt. Nobody there will admit they messed up in taking care of our family.
