"Size Concerns, Medicaid Not Accepted - Otherwise Good Experience"
When we visited Brookdale, my family member wasn’t happy with the room size at first. She thought it was too small. But after looking at other places, she realized that the room sizes at Brookdale were typical. In the end, they didn't offer a way to use Medicaid for payment, which made it too expensive for us.

"Caring Staff Despite Challenges"
They don't have a business manager right now. Some things are missing because there isn't enough help. But the staff has been wonderful to us and my loved one.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living Facility"
The staff is friendly and always ready to listen. Because of Covid and not having enough staff, things are a bit different right now. My main complaint is they didn't sit down with him initially to explain how things work and show him around. He felt unsure about how things operated. He does say the food is excellent. However, activities have been slower lately. They are looking to hire an activities director.

"Lackluster Activity Director Frustrates Assisted Living Residents"
The activities just don't seem to take place as promised most of the time. The residents appear idle, frequently asking if any event or program is happening. The Activity Director is primarily in the Board of Directors' office, not really working on her planned activities. Many things end up being cancelled because it seems like she's uninterested in conducting the programs that she's planned and marked on the calendar.

"Clean and Organized, Great Staff, More for Independent Residents"
This place wasn't exactly what we needed. It's more for people who can do things on their own. But I did appreciate how neat and organized everything was. The staff paid attention to me, and the person who showed me around knew a lot of useful things. They even gave me a free meal, but I didn't have time to eat it. Everyone was friendly and did their best to help me out.

"Great Care in a Nice Community"
This place is nice. My mom's happy here. The staff is caring and great. They offer activities, but she's not joining right now. I highly recommend it for the value and care.

" "Avoid Brookstone Hearthstone - Terrible Assisted Living Experience""
My older Aunt needed a short-term stay care facility until we could arrange in-home care. I used a service named APlaceForMom.com and it suggested Brookdale Hearthstone in Moses Lake, WA among others. I regret picking that place because it was absolutely horrendous. Soon after my Aunt started staying there, they kept calling me non-stop with issues regarding her care. It was really frustrating because I live far away and couldn't provide immediate help. The staff, even the higher-ups, couldn't give me straight answers and seemed actually incompetent at times. They couldn't look after my Aunt properly, let alone anyone else who needed special care. After a fortnight, I was finally able to arrange in-home care for my Aunt. When I picked her up, she was in a terrible condition - weak and dehydrated. They hadn't been giving her baths properly because apparently, she was not cooperating and they couldn't force her. Her clothes were dirty too. She was malnourished as they couldn't make her eat or drink enough. My complaints to them were met with defensiveness and excuses, not solutions. You should avoid Brookstone if your loved one is not able to fully take care of themselves. The staff there seemed incapable of convincing my 87-year-old Aunt to take care of her basic needs. I now know what to look for in a care facility as I learned a harsh lesson through this terrible experience at Brookstone. The Director seemed untrained, which raises concerns about how other residents are treated. This was a total shock for me. Before picking a place, look beyond the appearance and read real reviews, because your loved one deserves better care.
