"Mixed Feelings: Beautiful Facility, Pricey Care Options"
This place looks great, especially with the renovation going on. But the hallways are narrow, and I felt lost inside. The studio apartment was my favorite with its cozy sleeping alcove, lots of closets, and a private balcony. The base fee was fair, but the extra charges for care services were way too high. The activities were standard, and the dining room felt like a fancy restaurant, which was nice.

"Bugs And Maintenance Problems Spoiled Our Stay"
We initially liked this place for its spacious rooms and balconies but soon faced issues. The place wasn't clean enough, the washers often broke or leaked, and a massive bed bug problem made us decide to leave.

"Great tour, friendly staff, but couldn't meet our needs"
I enjoyed touring this community for my husband's care needs. The staff were friendly and answered all our questions. The environment was nice and positive. We liked the menu and the activities offered. We would have chosen this community if they could meet our needs.

"Adjusting Takes Time"
My mom's settling in at Brookdale Northgate. It's near for visits. The staff's super friendly and caring. Mom loves her cozy room, especially the balcony. The cleaning crew keeps it spotless, which Mom loves. Maintenance can be slow, though. Some things take a while to fix, like the elevator. That can confuse folks with memory issues. We're waiting for more activities from the new director.

"Mixed Experience: Good Guide, Lacking Atmosphere"
The lady who guided us was amazing and represented the place well. But, there was an old smell and the mood was quite downcast. It felt more like a big hospital or institution.

"Dad's Favorite Place with Friendly Staff and Fun Activities"
My dad and I visited lots of places, but he liked this one the best. He loved how friendly and welcoming the staff were. He was also excited about the fun activities they offer. I enjoyed that they had different meals for us to try; we thought the food and dining experience were great!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
I'm 77 years old. When I came here, I didn't expect much compared to other places I've lived in. The building is old but very clean. There's only one elevator for four floors. Many people here have physical or mental disabilities. A lot of folks have allergies to pork, but I found out it's not the kitchen that puts pork in the food, it's the suppliers they use. Sometimes pork isn't even mentioned on the menu, which is important for health and religious reasons. The dining area is really clean, but it gets noisy. They replaced the carpet with nice hard flooring. The TV in the living room is often too loud, so some residents avoid it. We need more quiet spaces and activities. It seems like everyone signs up for activities as soon as they're available. Things are slowly improving, and we're hoping for more changes.

"Decent Facility, But Some Services Need Improvement"
My thoughts are that they're okay. The meal service is top notch. We really like the dining set-up and my sister gives it a thumb up. However, some things aren't carried out as they should. They've got Comcast cable for TV, but it's taking ages to get my sister's TV going. They need to remember that her TV means a lot to her happiness.

"Nightmare Facility: Bug Infestations and Neglectful Care"
This place is an absolute nightmare. The location was crawling with bed bugs, which I had to inform them about numerous times due to their neglect. They often failed to provide my loved one with meals, and numerous times did not administer the correct medication. The nursing staff was extremely disrespectful and unhelpful. They even went as far as locking residents in their rooms at night, which I consider to be a safety risk. I absolutely will not and cannot recommend this place to anyone.

"Watch Out: Billing Issues and Poor Dementia Care"
You should know -- the way they handle billing is pretty puzzling and they've messed it up a few times. It also looks like the staff doesn't really know how to take care of people with dementia.

"A Wonderful New Home for Mom"
Our family checked out 3 different assisted living places. Brookdale @ Northgate was our top choice. Katri met with us, answered all our questions, and showed us all the available apartments. She really took the time to find out what our mom wanted for experiences and activities. Mom loved that each apartment had a balcony or patio and was very spacious. We noticed the staff interacting with residents in a friendly and helpful way. Within a few days, with a lot of help from the Brookdale staff, our mom was happily settled into her new apartment and making new friends.

"They really care about their residents"
I think they really care about their residents. They were super helpful and kind. They quickly handled some problems my mom had. The food is awesome and parking is easy. The location is great too, just 5 minutes from my house. It’s a convenient place and easy to get to. I would definitely recommend Brookdale Northgate. It’s a fantastic place.

"Totally Overpriced Northgate Experience!"
Brookdale Northgate costs way too much money! I can't make head or tail of their billing systems, it's a total mess and I'm always left in the dark wondering what I'm billed for. I was stunned to see our bill. Moving into the place was a complete nightmare. We were left high and dry to sort everything ourselves, with no one around to guide us or lend a helping hand. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things will improve.

"Big Rooms, Older Building: Good Value for Tight Budgets"
The rooms at this assisted living facility are big. The place used to be an apartment building, so the rooms are larger than at Spring Estates. But the stuff in the facility is kind of old. The price is lower because of this. This place might be right for her if her money situation doesn't let her live anywhere else, just based on how big the rooms are and if her bed fits.

"Not really all that close, but decent."
This assisted living facility isn't very close to the mall on 15th Street. I like the 'income qualified' apartments – maybe they offer a discount? The anytime dining is great, and the facilities are nice. However, every location seems to have the same color scheme. Rent includes all utilities except for the phone. Other locations might be a better fit.

"Currently My Second Choice for Assisted Living"
This place is my second choice right now. The staff is super friendly, the place is clean, and the food is good. It feels like home because everyone knows your name and cares about you. They really focus on each person’s needs. The location is great, and they have lots of fun activities. I just wish there were fewer payment issues and the dining room was better organized.
