"Recommended for Location & Services"
We liked it and would suggest it. The location and services were our reasons.

"Friendly Assisted Living with a Catholic Community"
My family member enjoys it and met an old friend, which made her decide. The place has a large Catholic community, and they hold Mass on Sundays. It’s a pleasant spot, and the staff are super friendly.

"South Hill Village Review: Mixed Experience, Not Ideal for Memory Care"
South Hill Village offers different types of living options: independent living, assisted living, and memory care. I want to warn anyone considering this place, even if it's just for independent or assisted living, to also check out the memory care unit. The rooms are really tiny, the hallways are narrow, and the common area feels too crowded. When we visited the memory care section, all the residents were squeezed together watching TV. The food is great for independent and assisted living, but for memory care, it's pre-packaged and brought in. I wouldn't suggest South Hill Village for memory care needs.

"A Caring, Family-Like Community"
This place has a much nicer atmosphere, and the residents aren't just sitting in the hallways. It feels like a big family. The staff are great at communicating with families, answering questions, and addressing concerns. They're also caring and efficient.

"Good experience but a bit expensive"
We think it's pretty expensive for what they offer, but our experience has been good so far. They aren't letting families come inside to eat with their loved ones yet, but our loved one says the food is great.

"Caring Staff, But Service and Costs Could Improve"
A few of the staff here are super kind and really look out for my family member’s health. When we first got here, I sometimes had to take my relative to the bathroom myself because the helpers didn’t come on time. We picked this place because it had a big, nice apartment and offered all the care levels we might need later. The meals are just okay and they change a lot. The price used to be good, but now it’s gotten too high. My advice? Make sure to visit your family here a lot.

"Clean, Spacious, and Good Food!"
This place is really nice. It's clean, with a lovely setting. The rooms seem spacious, especially the large one-bedroom. The dining room is also clean, and the food is good.

"Informative, Pleasant, But No Openings Available"
I went on a tour of an assisted living place, and it was really good. The workers knew a lot and answered all our questions. They didn't rush us, which was nice. The building layout is great, so you won't get lost. They explained how they charge for things, which was helpful. We would've picked this place, but they didn't have any spots open when we visited.

"Everything is going great here!"
Everything has been going great for my mom since she moved here. The staff take really good care of her and spend a lot of time with her in the memory care unit. She likes the food and enjoys the activities she can do during the week. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

"Fell Short of Expectations: Uncomfortable and Unwelcoming"
We had a really tough time here. There wasn't much space for different types of people and they seemed to care more about how things looked than if they were comfortable. It looks nice, but it wasn't the welcoming and warm place we hoped for my mom or dad.

"Facility Lacked Suitable Activities and Affordable 24/7 Care"
We thought there'd be more aid to help my dad adjust to the facility. He only stayed for 3.5 days before we decided to bring him back home. My dad is more active than the other residents. He walks 2-5 miles per day and we were assured he'd have walking companions, but that didn't happen. Their walking group only walks one block daily.

"Inattentive Staff and Missing Possessions"
Our time at this assisted living center was just alright, not great. I don't think they are capable of properly caring for diabetic patients. My grandma's belongings disappeared and they were mysteriously absent when we came to get her. Some of her medical records and clothes were missing too. We did meet some lovely people there, but the staff didn't pay enough attention to the residents. After meals, they parked the elderly in front of the TV, where they'd doze off. Don't choose this place if you want a professional, involved atmosphere for your family member.

"Improving Assisted Living with Cozy Atmosphere, Needs More Staff"
It's a good size place. Feels comfy and close. They're getting better at keeping things organized, but they could use more people working there.

"Communication Challenges with Staff in Memory Care Unit"
I believe the main issue at Brookdale Place at Harbor Crest was that my loved one was initially placed in regular assisted living but was moved to memory care after 2 days. During our visit, we observed that the staff in memory care had accents, making communication quite challenging. Despite this, our overall experience has been fairly positive.

"Clean, Friendly Harbor Crest for Dad"
First, a big thank you to Jodi. Our time to find a place for my dad was really short, but Jodi quickly helped us with great leads. These leads were a huge help with our tight schedule. We got to have dad assessed to figure out the care he needed. We ended up choosing Brookdale Place at Harbor Crest. Thanks to Sandra for answering all our questions and providing temporary housing for my dad. The places Jodi suggested were all excellent with very helpful staff. We chose Harbor Crest because it is very clean and open, the staff are friendly and helpful, my dad’s former neighbors are now residents there, and it’s conveniently located for family visits.

"Quality Assisted Living with Responsive Staff and Engaging Activities"
They're really good at what they do. I'm a retired professor, and I'm not an easy grader. It's a bit pricey, but I'm happy with what they offer. Some caregivers are okay, some are great, so it averages to a four. I see others joining in activities, which is nice. Overall, I've been pretty pleased. When I ask for something, they respond well.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This place is pretty good overall. It's clean and the staff are friendly. The food service needs work though. It's slow and the food is okay, not great. They do have a nice salad bar though.

"Mixed Feelings: Assisted Living Facility Review"
My mom stays there. It's pricey, but she adores it. I'm kinda impressed. As long as she's content, I'm okay. Their food is awesome! And they involve families in events.

"Deceiving Offers and Misleading Medicaid Claims at Assisted Living Facility!"
We were promised 3 free months at the assisted living facility for a rent of $3,000. However, once my grandmother settled in there for those 3 months, they increased the rent by an extra $1000. While they believe they can convince you by saying they only have a single apartment left, you can undoubtedly observe several vacant ones if you take your time to look. The staff is not quick in addressing concerns and the food is mediocre. I suggest checking out their competitors, despite what they might say about them. Unfortunately, we regret not researching more beforehand. They'll claim that Medicaid is accessible once your funds are depleted, but when it matters, they don't have any "approved" apartments left. It's a challenge to locate a good facility that accepts Medicaid without a spend down. We had to relocate my grandmother to a less elegant facility after her money ran out from being at Harborcrest for a few years. The standard of care there is fair though. It's heartbreaking because she misses her old friends.

"Terrible. Deceptive Practices After Initial Free Rent Period"
They sweet-talked us with three months of free rent for assisted living, which seemed like a great deal. After the three months, though, the rent shot up by an extra $1500, which was more than we were initially quoted when we toured. The apartments are pretty decent, and the food isn't bad, but the staff don't really attend to your needs. They'll treat you like royalty until you move in, and then ignore you unless you threaten to leave. They insisted that there was only one apartment left, but when you walk around the place, you see a lot of empty apartments. I suggest checking out their competition, even though they bad-mouth them, before deciding to move here. Right now, we don't want to uproot Grandma as she's very frail and we don't think she would handle another move well. But I do wish we had made a different choice at the start.

"Good Location and Affordable with Responsive Management"
The facility could use more activities to keep the residents busy. They were conveniently located for our family and gave us a reduced rate. They were less expensive than similar places offering the same services. The upper management was very quick to respond and took care of any problems. Overall, we were happy with them.
