"Good experience but needs faster response and better food"
Overall, it's been a good experience. There are some things to fix, but I still suggest looking into it for placement. I love the energy! Everyone seems happy all the time. The biggest thing that needs improvement is the response time when a resident pushes their button. Right now, it takes about 30 minutes. Also, residents complain about the food being too bland and too cold.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Mixed Experience, Decent Food"
I’d make sure the place can fully care for your loved one. Our stay was brief. I think they weren’t well-prepared for all my loved one's health needs. Food was alright, could use more spices. The homemade ice cream was fantastic.

"Pushy Tour Guide, Pricey Rooms"
I visited this place while searching for a home for my Mom. The lady who showed us around was very pushy. She kept urging us to sign up that day, saying things like, 'I can give you the best price right now.' Despite that, the building was decent, and the rooms were okay. But they were pricier than other options.

"Mixed Feelings About Layout, Friendly Staff in Assisted Living Tour"
I visited this place with my family. The people working there were friendly and helped us understand things. We wanted rooms that were more separate from each other, but the way they're set up here didn't really meet our expectations. Maybe other folks would prefer it, but it's important for them to check out how everything looks before deciding.

"Great Care and Helpful Staff in Assisted Living Community"
This community is really nice. The staff here has been great! They are always helpful and make sure everything is going well for my parents. Right now, my parents aren't joining in activities yet. I think this place offers excellent care for loved ones, and I would recommend it.

"Brookdale Yakima Disrespects Resident and Overcharges for Services"
My mom was at Brookdale Yakima for about 6 weeks before she passed away on July 12th. Honestly, the place doesn't deserve any stars, but I need to rate it to write this review. We started getting charged as soon as we signed the contract, even though my mom was in the hospital until May 30th. She was at the hospital because she fell and hit her head twice while she was in temporary care at another place. The care my mom got at Brookdale was unbelievably bad. She didn't get a shower for 3 weeks after she moved in, but we were charged for daily showers and dressing help. When I visited my mom, many times I found her with no bra on, her hair not combed, and sitting in her room wearing only pants, a bra and an unbuttoned jacket. Her room was never cleaned and her bed was never made. Although meals are supposed to be included, my mom wasn't able to get to the dining room. So we were charged extra, over $500 a month, to have the meals delivered to her room . her bathroom was dirty all the time. I saw dried poop on the toilet and stains from diarrhea on the floor that were never cleaned up. Her bathroom floor was never mopped or waxed. Also, her clothes were often left wadded up and thrown in the bathroom sink or on her closet floor. Even though her laundry supposed to be done once a week, we had to ask for it to be done twice a week. Then, four pairs of her pants went missing. The last straw came when we found out we would be charged for five more days after my mom passed away and we moved all her stuff out of her room.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Yakima Assisted Living"
Brookdale Yakima is a pretty nice place. When we were moving my parents in, we faced some problems. They signed up on 5/12/16, but their specific room wasn't ready. We were told it would be top priority, but it wasn't. We planned to move in on May 27, but the room wasn't ready, so we rescheduled for May 31, then again and again. The first movers even backed out because of all the changes. Finally, the room was ready on , more than a month after signing the contract. It needed a lot of fixing up like new paint, carpet, kitchen and bathroom flooring, fixing holes in walls, a new fridge, new closet doors, and other things. I think it's expensive, but comparing with other places, it seems okay. We're lucky my parents can afford it. On ,they moved into a 1-bedroom unit until their 2-bedroom unit was renovated. The staff are really nice. The place is nice too, with lots of places to hang out. Johnathan in the dining room is great. My parents are starting to feel at home now that they have their own stuff around them. Now the real test will be settling into a routine with the little help my dad needs. I hope things get smoother. I'll give a better review once the issues with care and timing are sorted out. I can't rate activities yet because my parents haven't done many. I hope that changes soon. The food has been really good with lots of choices. I'm grateful my parents found such a nice place.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale Yakima"
Brookdale Yakima is pretty nice. But, the cleaning crew needs some improvement. They don't do a very good job in certain areas. My mom enjoys the food, and the staff pay attention to the residents and keep us updated about her care. There are activities for the residents to enjoy.

"Nice place but watch out for rising costs"
Overall, things have been good here, but I wasn't too happy with the pricing. The place is nice, and the caregivers are really friendly and professional. At first, the price seemed okay, but soon after we moved my loved one in, they started adding extra charges and the cost went up quickly. It got to the point where we thought about looking for another place, but we had already paid a big non-refundable community fee. To be fair, they did work with us a bit and removed some of the extra fees after we talked to them.

"Great staff and community feeling for our parents"
This community works well for our parents. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they try hard to meet everyone’s needs. Our parents enjoy talking with other residents, and they make us feel welcome when we visit.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Food"
We felt let down by this place as soon as we stepped inside. There were many people milling about near the entrance. The cleanliness could be better. When I asked a lady in the dining room about the food, she said she didn't like it.

"Good place for socializing, but needs more staff for better care"
We like that my dad can socialize with others, and the staff is friendly. I think the food is okay, though I haven’t tried it myself. My dad says it’s just food, but they do seem to pay attention to his diabetic needs. I believe they need more staff. Sometimes they can’t clean properly and occasionally forget to pick up his laundry, which means he might have two weeks’ worth of dirty clothes. But when they do forget, they’re quick to fix it and get the laundry back the same day. One issue is with the physical therapy. The therapists want my dad to walk up and down the hallway twice a day. If he says no when asked by the staff, they just leave him alone. More staff could help make sure he walks so he doesn’t lose the progress from therapy.
