"Remodeled facility with caring staff and reasonable costs"
The facility was remodeled recently and looks nice. If you expect perfection, you won't find it here or anywhere else. But if your expectations are reasonable, you'll find a caring staff, both in administration and services, who try hard to meet residents' needs and almost always succeed. Like most places, the workers are underpaid and overworked. For them, it's a labor of love. Our 91-year-old mother moved in almost four years ago. She started as an independent living resident and moved to assisted living as her Alzheimer's got worse. Residents sometimes complain about the food, which is like what you'd get in a college dorm. Don't expect it to be cooked exactly how you want it, but there are plenty of meal options. They have a shuttle bus that takes residents to various department and grocery stores weekly. There are also field trips to places like Mariner's games, parks, restaurants, and more. They even have a happy hour every Friday afternoon. There's a daily schedule of activities for any resident who wants to join. Whenever we've made a reasonable request about maintenance, food, or billing, they've always tried to help us. The costs have been very reasonable, and it would be hard to find a better deal elsewhere. They have a tough job, and they do it well.

"El Dorado Neglects Care, Cleanliness and Quality Food Availability"
El Dorado doesn't feel like a family home anymore. The people running this place seem to only care about filling rooms, even with folks who require better care than what's offered here. There definitely isn't enough staff to look after all of them. They have a habit of running out of food, and what they do have isn't appetizing at all. Moreover, the entire building could use a deep cleaning, from washing windows to dusting everything off. It's not a great image for a place that used to be so nice.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility Fails Seniors, Poor Management and Service"
This place is not good for seniors. The leaders don't know what they're doing. They spend money on their own parties instead of helping the residents. The managers don't care about what the residents want. They tell the staff not to listen to them. Your senior will only get a ham and cheese sandwich, even if they want something else. They might not even know they can ask for special food. The company, Village Concepts, is poorly managed. When things get hard, the leaders leave. The staff gets paid very little. Don't go here if you can avoid it.

"Amazing Staff, Fun Activities, and Great New Friends Here"
This place is fantastic! The staff is professional, friendly, and always ready to help. The other residents are great too, and I've made several new friends. The activities here are diverse and fun, including church services, exercise classes, games, and medical talks. I’ve really enjoyed everything.

"Nice place but waiting list is too long"
We found it to be clean and cheerful. The waiting list was too long, so I don’t understand why they don’t let more people check out their other location in Auburn, Brannan Park, which is new and only about one-third full. El Dorado was well-organized, with lots of activities and enough caregivers. However, their memory care center seemed really crowded. Despite this, everyone there was very kind and friendly. We would have picked El Dorado, but the waiting list was too long, and we needed a place immediately.

"Warm and clean, but long waitlist; sister facility suggested."
We thought it was really clean and happy there. But there were so many people waiting to get in that we didn't understand why they didn't tell more folks about their other place in Auburn, Brannan Park. It's new and not even half full yet. El Dorado was well-organized, and there were lots of things to do, plus enough people taking care of everyone. But the part for people with memory issues seemed too full. Still, everyone was really nice. We would have picked El Dorado, but there were too many people on the waiting list, and we needed to find a place right away.

"Great Experience in a Short Stay"
We only had my dad here for about 2 weeks, but from what I saw, the place was clean and smelled nice. The staff was great; they would come and take my dad to the dining area for his meals. He didn’t say much about the food, but I ate there once and it was really good. The building’s layout seemed good, and the temperature was just right. It’s also conveniently located, only about 15 minutes away from me.

""Bad Meals And Hard To Eat Food At Burien Facility""
My dad stays in the Burien place and he can't stop complaining about the meals. The romaine lettuce they give out is so hard that it's difficult for him to chew. Also, he's mentioned that they've cut down on serving mini pig sausages from daily to every three days. Can't they consider the need for soft food for the elders? Thanks, A resident's daughter

"Concerns Over Care at Assisted Living Facility"
Most of the folks living here have memory issues like dementia or Alzheimer’s. The people working here don’t really watch over us much, so sometimes people can be mean to each other, use bad words, and even fight… and the staff or bosses are never around to see it. Nobody tells these folks to act nice or polite, so you gotta stay clear if someone gets mad or starts trouble. People just grab stuff from the drink, salad, or dessert carts, and that’s not good for keeping things clean – you don’t know where their hands have been. They don’t just touch one thing; they touch a bunch of stuff, even the glasses. I saw someone pick their nose and then go get a drink. And again, the staff or the people in charge don’t do anything – they’re not watching. It feels like El Dorado West will let anyone live here if they can pay, without worrying about how their mind is working. Being here doesn’t make my retirement fun… the only place I feel safe is in my own room. If I could, I’d leave this crazy place for sure.

"Behind the Madness at El Dorado West"
This assisted living center, El Dorado West, is more than disappointing, filled with a majority of residents who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's. With hardly any staff supervision, a lot of these folks engage in bothering each other, using profanity, and even physically harming one another. The worst part is that there's never any staff or management around when bad stuff goes down. Nobody steps in to set any boundaries for nice behavior. It's basically survival of the fittest with most getting mad or violent. The food service isn't any better - residents freely reach for drinks, salads and desserts on the carts. That's a big health risk - who knows where those hands have been? These residents don't just touch one item, they handle multiple glassware, pitchers, and desserts. One person even picked their nose before pouring a drink. But again, staff and management just don't care to pay attention. It seems like El Dorado West will accept anyone willing to pay the rent, without caring about their mental health state. This was supposed to be my golden years, but it feels more like being trapped. If only I could, I'd move out of this madhouse.

"Poor Quality Food and Unresponsive Management at El Dudrado Facility"
"The food here is really bad. They use cheap stuff like processed turkey and ham that tastes fake. The ribs are like fast food, and even the chili is from a can with mystery meat. The pasta is all mushy, and the rice has uncooked bits in it, which is scary. Sometimes they even burn the food! When we complain, they just say other people like it. But I've talked to other residents, and they don't. Some people are scared to say anything because they think they'll get in trouble. The ombudsman hasn't helped much either. We need a retirement place that actually cares about what they feed us and listens when we speak up. El Dudrado isn't it.

"Subpar Meals with Dismissive Attitudes at El Dudrado Facility"
Subpar Food and Disregard for Concerns at Assisted Living Facility" 'The person in charge of the kitchen purchases low-quality, artificial food filled with chemicals. Charging $3000 per month, you would expect to receive genuinely prepared turkey, not an artificial version. The same can be said for the served ham. Even the pork ribs are reminiscent of fast-food offerings. The canned chili contains an unidentifiable type of meat. Any pasta offered is over-cooked to the point of being pasty. The rice sometimes contains uncooked pieces, creating an element of fear regarding what one might unknowingly consume. Meals frequently arrive burnt and we're told the kitchen isn't faultless. But trust me, it isn't even satisfactory. Our objections and complaints are brushed off with excuses, such as "other residents enjoy the food". Who genuinely prefers charred meals or low-grade, artificial dishes? Not the residents I've spoken to. Regrettably, some prefer to remain silent due to fear of possible retaliation or the belief that voicing their concerns won't lead to any improvement. The resident representative has had only minimal success in bringing attention to our concerns. Surely, there must be a retirement community out there that can provide seniors with a safe, clean environment that includes decent food. El Dudrado is clearly not that place.

"Decent Facility with Minor Issues"
El Dorado is pretty okay, it's always clean. My relative's room is kept tidy and they change the bedding regularly. But, the food service over the weekend isn't as good as it is on weekdays. Also, they charge extra for small stuff, although they did give me a pricing list when we moved in. A few times, my mom's meal didn't look fresh and it was served cold.

"Mixed Experience at El Dorado West Assisted Living"
Things were okay at El Dorado West until something happened with my mom sneaking out at night. The staff doesn't know how it happened but thinks a door might have been left open. Now, my mom's in Memory Care, and except for one fall, I'm okay with it. My folks both stay here. The staff is nice and caring. They have a nurse on-site who looks after everyone. The food is yummy, and the place is clean since it's pretty new. I was happy until my mom's incident. I'd give them a 5, but now I'm not so sure.

"Feeling Uncertain After Incident at El Dorado West"
El Dorado West was doing a good job until a mistake involving my mom sneaking out at night occurred. It's unclear how it happened, but it's thought that maybe a side door was accidentally left open. Since this scare, she has been transferred to Memory Care. This change has been okay, even though she has fallen once. Both of my parents live here. The staff is really kind and caring. They have a nurse on-site who is in charge of medical care. The meals are tasty. The community is quite new and kept clean. I was really happy before my mom's exit incident happened. I would have given a perfect score, but now I'm a bit uncertain.

"Subpar Food and Service at Assisted Living Facility"
Our lunch was supposed to be actual turkey – dark meat even. But what we got was far from a real feast. It was just processed food, molded to look like turkey but it wasn't! You'd assume it'd at least taste okay, but no. I can still taste it, hours later. It seems to me the budget for food has been drastically reduced. Remember the fresh strawberries we had once this summer? Now, we're served stale, mealy apples from last year. Even though we're old, we can still taste, you know. For the amount we're charged every month, I feel like I'm eating cafeteria food. Each mealtime is like a nightmare waiting in line, the whole service taking an hour and a half. It's like being stored away in a warehouse. The issues we've raised – about carer qualifications, food quality, timely medication delivery – don't seem to have registered. Improvement is a distant concept. Is this the best they can do? Maybe if they paid their employees a decent wage, the service and food would improve, not just to meet the bare minimum!

"Unimpressive Meals, Slow Service Despite Kind Slow Staff"
This spot is pretty and recent, but the meals are disappointing. They're often overdone, look unappealing, and there aren't many other options. My Mom or Dad has made complaints - and we have too - but the food stays the same. They've even started eating less because they're tired of the same chilly sandwiches for dinner every night. The nurses are kind but they sure do take their time when it comes to the daily care they're supposed to give.

"Staff and food are great, but lack of socializing is hard."
At El Dorado West, the workers are really well trained. They're super nice and always ready to help. Whenever you need something, they're there in a jiffy. The food here is awesome. Even though I haven't been here long and haven't joined in much, some activities are fun, but some are not so great. Personally, I don't like it here. I didn't choose to come. I have trouble making friends because I'm legally blind. It's tough for me since I knew everyone where I lived before. The other residents tend to keep to themselves and don't seem happy. But, I'm really happy with the staff and the place itself.

"Not Well Equipped for Dementia Patients, but Improvement Promised"
My husband has memory problems. I don't feel like they're set up to help folks like him. That's my main worry. Also, I feel like he's by himself too much. They don't plan activities for people with memory issues. They promised to make some changes. The meals are great there. I've eaten dinner there myself. I wish my husband could be home, but I think this is the best situation for now. They're supposed to be improving things, and I'm hopeful about that.

"Great tour, clean facility, but concerns about costs and showers."
I had a great tour at El Dorado West. Maureen was very knowledgeable about the facility and knew the residents well, even though she had only been there for 3 months. She also had a good understanding of wheelchair accessibility. Since the facility is new, everything was clean and shiny. The residents seemed happy and engaged, and those I talked to really loved their new home. It was a bit expensive, and the Medicaid spend-down period is 24 months. I also noticed that all the bathrooms have walk-in showers instead of bathtubs. Since my mom uses a power wheelchair and has trouble moving between her power chair and a manual chair, we would need to pay extra for help 3 times a week to assist her with the shower (right now, she manages independently with her bathtub). Despite the shower and cost concerns, I will keep this place on my 'yes' list unless I find something better.

"Great Facility with Happy Residents and Plenty of Activities"
I visited the facility and didn’t see any administrators. I only saw the cafeteria staff and one nurse. I talked to the residents, and they all had positive things to say. There are lots of common areas where people can hang out, like a Wii game system, card tables, and a putting green. There’s also an outdoor seating area. The place has a cozy, homey feel, and I can really imagine her living there.
