"The memory care unit disappointed with bad smell and stained carpets."
I visited this place before COVID. The assisted living area looked nice. But when I checked out the memory care units for my dad, I was really let down. The whole place smelled bad, and the carpets were stained. The residents seemed bored, like they were in a nursing home from the past.

"Mixed Billing Experience, Friendly Staff, Inconsistent Food Quality"
We had a few problems with the bills because they charged more than necessary for our family member. We had to talk to them about it. Once we did, they fixed it fast. The food tastes different sometimes for our loved one. The workers and the people who live there are nice.

"Fantastic care and great food make Fairwinds the perfect choice"
We are really happy with Fairwinds for my mom. It was a big change for her, but the staff there are fantastic and make sure you feel welcome. I’m really impressed with the food, especially for such a big place. There are lots of choices to meet all your needs. I’m thankful for A Place for Mom for giving us a list of places to check out. We only visited one other place after Fairwinds because we knew Fairwinds was the right fit.

"Beautiful place but concerns about high-level care needs"
When you first walk into Fairwinds, you see the beautiful, modern decor that’s always clean and well-kept. The friendly atmosphere is clear from the residents, families, and staff. I can't think of a better place for my parents to enjoy their "Golden Years." I’m very thankful for everyone who takes care of my Mom and Dad as if they were their own. As a healthcare worker, I’m always impressed by the staff’s professionalism and the fact that many have been here a long time. My only worry is that Fairwinds only offers basic assisted living. This might mean my parents could eventually need to move if their care needs become too high. I hope this doesn’t happen, but it’s a concern for my siblings and me. While Fairwinds might be costly for some, it’s a wonderful community if you can afford it.

" "Fairwinds - Good but Too Spacious and Far for Comfort""
I visited Fairwinds when exploring places for my mom. It's a big place with elevators. Although it looked good, it felt too large, hectic, and too distant from our family. I wanted a spot with a homey feel for my mom, but Fairwinds didn't seem right.

"Pleasant Tour"
We took a pleasant tour of Fairwinds. The staff was super friendly, and the community was neat and well-kept. However, we opted for a larger community that suited my mom better.

"Assisted Living Facility Communicates Considerately but Lacks Available Accommodations"
They were very nice, kindly calling two days in advance to let us know that they didn't have a furnished apartment available at the moment. We appreciated their help.

"Clean, caring staff and activities no pets allowed, consider options."
I visited this place for my dad’s care. The people working there were nice and caring. The place looked clean and the food they serve looked good. They have things for the residents to do. They don’t let people have pets, though, and that was something my dad wanted. I think families should come see if this place might be right for someone they love.

"Friendly staff and clean community; no pets allowed; recommend options."
I visited this place for my dad's care. The staff was nice and caring. The place looked neat and the food menu was good. They have fun things for people to do there. But they don't let pets in, and that's something my dad wanted. I think families should check out this place if they're looking for care options for a loved one.

"Friendly and Clean, But Found a Better Fit"
The Fairwinds was great, just like many other places we visited. It was clean and everyone was very friendly. However, we found another community that fits my loved one's needs better.

"Mixed Feelings About Multilevel Assisted Living Facility"
Me and my mom had a good time checking out this place. The workers were super nice and they knew a lot about their building. Everything looked really tidy and neat for the people living there. They had a big common area and dining room that could hold a lot of people. But my mom wasn't too keen on it being a multilevel building.

"Impressive Looks, Mediocre Care! Regret Choosing Fairwinds!"
Don't let the impressive looks of their place trick you. Because once they've convinced you to join, it just becomes a game of how much more money they can get out of you. Quality of care? Doesn't seem like it's their main concern. One of my relatives resides there currently, and trust me, if it wasn't so difficult, I would move her somewhere else. She doesn't believe in receiving quick, top-notch care there, and I've personally witnessed this. We struggle to get proper attention and yet, it's short-lived. While there are some good staff who genuinely do care, not all of them do. If I were to repeat the process, I would NEVER, EVER choose Fairwinds again.

"Hidden charges and lacking care infuriate at assisted living facility."
My grandpa's lived there over a year, and we're really bummed we didn't know how bad it'd be -- they care more about how things look than if people are okay. There's a lot of extra fees (like $3.50 just to bring food to a room) and basic stuff they just don't have. Like the "spa" couldn't fit a scooter, which lots of people there use, and there's not even a spot for soap. And they drop loads of cash on decorations for "Extra special fun!" -- it's like sprinkles on a mud pie. Wouldn't it be better to have a nurse there at night? That's more important than a tall bar in the lobby, which they have -- yeah, a bar. A tall bar. Overall, I'm pretty mad. If 97-year-old "Pop" could handle moving, we'd take him out. If you're looking for a friendly, good-quality and people-focused place, this ain't it.

"Father's Haven"
I'm pleased with the care my father receives here. The staff is helpful and caring, and the community is great. He enjoys activities and exercises to stay active. The rooms are very nice, and it feels more like home than a community. I highly recommend it to other families.

"Fairwinds Fails to Live Up to Promises: Unhappy Resident's Family"
Fairwinds had promised to keep my mom happy and engaged, to provide a mentor to guide her and befriend her, but that has not been the case. I feel like my mom was left alone as soon as she moved in there. I've had to make numerous phone calls about various issues going on. Whenever she tries to reach the front desk, no one ever gets back to her. She uses a walker and encountered a problem with a door that shut too quickly for her to pass through comfortably. There was a delay in getting her the physical therapy planned to aid her mobility. The gym director is very helpful and started a class focusing on the range of movement. The staff are friendly and the food quality is good. They do organize activities, but my mom could use some motivation to join them. They once gave her $2 to participate in a bingo game, which was a nice touch. The scheduled activities seem promising.

""Mom's Cozy Assisted Living with Daily Specials""
Mom lives here now. It's a big 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom place with kitchens and her own laundry. There's a fireplace, central air, and cable TV. Internet costs extra. The dining area feels like a cafe, and they have daily specials.
