Ida Culver House Broadview
Disappointed
"Ida Culver assisted living now lacking care and management"
Sadly, this place has gone downhill fast since they got a new boss. The assisted living program is just terrible - they don't have enough staff, there's long waits to get any help, and they've lost their ability to manage things properly since their Nursing Director left last fall. The food isn't always good either, after their Culinary Director left for some unknown reason. The gardens are pretty, but don't let that fool you - if you look closer, you'll see a really old, poorly run facility. As soon as they think your loved one needs extra care, Ida Culver demands you hire private caregivers. All of this comes at an outrageously high price. Our family's experience has been really disappointing. We so wanted to like Ida Culver.

"Friendly Staff and Activities for Residents at Assisted Living Facility"
The staff at this assisted living facility are very nice and polite. They are easy to work with and communicate well. The facility offers different levels of care, which is good. I would recommend this community, although I haven't visited any others. There are activities for the residents to choose from, which is nice. Additionally, the community sends out a weekly newsletter with an activities calendar included.

"Ida Culver House: Beautiful but Challenged by Covid"
Overall, Ida Culver House is pretty great. The place looks amazing with its lovely gardens, and the apartment for our family member is super nice. They fixed it up all new just before she came. Plus, they’re making all the old apartments fresh and new for new people moving in. She seems to be doing well there, even though it’s been tough with all the Covid stuff going on. Just so you know, I hardly ever give anyone a perfect score. At first, the food was awesome. But lately, she and her friends there aren’t happy because they’ve had to switch to meals in boxes delivered to their rooms. Now they’ve started to let them eat in the dining room every other day again. But the boxed meals aren’t that great. It’s way better in the dining room, even though they’re short on staff like a lot of places these days. Before everything shut down, there were lots of fun things to do. Now, with fewer activities and it getting colder outside, it’s not as easy to have fun. But they’re still trying by doing stuff over Zoom or on their TV network inside, like exercise classes and such. They’re really putting in the effort, but it’s not quite the same.

"Convenient Amenities in Lovely Setting"
I really liked this place. It's so nice, and I especially like that every apartment has its own washer and dryer.

"Convenient and Friendly Assisted Living with Good Value"
We liked this place because it was really friendly and easy to get around. The staff learned our names fast. The things to do were good. The food wasn’t as fancy as some other places, but it was okay, and the staff was helpful. It’s near a park, stores, and places to eat.

"Shocking Nights and Ignored Pleas at Assisted Living Facility"
Regrettably, my encounter with Ida Culver House Broadview was one of the most distressing experiences in my life. This ordeal was created chiefly by an individual who played a key role in creating chaos with decisions about my father. The administrator, whose name I won't state, was dismissive regarding my concerns about my dad's issues. Interestingly, one of their own employees confided in me that she wasn't a fan of the nursing home. Despite being from the assisted living section, she often came to help dad and was supportive when others weren't. She suggested I should stay overnight to witness the procedures. Staff would enter your family member's room and switch on all lights anytime they felt like it, interrupting others trying to sleep. Unfortunately, attempts at addressing these issues with administrative staff were met with staunch loyalty to their boss. The state eventually shared documentation with me highlighting the "deficiencies" at the facility, mentioning other residents aside from my father. Consequently, I moved him out but I hope others won't suffer in silence. Despite several "care conferences" or nutrition meetings, I fail to understand why we were back to square one. My dad lost a significant 13 pounds due to inadequate nutrition. "These issues could have been avoided. Despite the daughter's alert, they ignored the issues," the state representative told me.

"Nice Staff, But Not the Right Place for Dad"
I visited this place and the people working there were super kind. They gave answers to all the questions I had. The place was really fancy and high-class. But my dad wouldn’t have liked it there. It just didn’t suit him well.

"Lacks Medicaid Spin-Down Program"
I visited this community recently, and our experience was positive. The staff did an excellent job with the presentation, and I appreciated the great amenities and open floor plan. Unfortunately, they lacked a Medicaid spin-down program for the long term.

"Friendly staff, clean place, good food, and fun activities"
We visited this place to find care for both my mom and dad. The staff was friendly and attentive. The place was clean, and the food menu looked good. We also liked the variety of activities available for residents. We recommend this community for anyone looking for care for a loved one.

"Bad communication and customer service at ERA Living."
This place isn't that great. It seems nice at first and the sales team is awesome. But after that, the workers aren't very good. It took them a whole week to check out my mom or dad, and then another week to give us back our $5000 deposit that they cashed, even though we kept emailing them telling them we needed the money. And here's the worst part: The person who was checking out my parent was kind of mean with us on the phone when we were setting up the meeting BUT when she called to tell me our parent wasn't accepted, she was really nice and kept complimenting us- I guess because she was on speaker phone with her boss in the room. That's just gross and not cool. This wasn't the first time someone from this company was mean to us. When our parent left the nursing and rehab section...the workers were so uncaring. I thought the assisted living section would be different but I was wrong. People being nice and caring about others apparently isn't a thing at ERA Living (the big company that runs this place). I'd look for somewhere else.
