"New owners, improved building, friendly staff, and happy residents"
Maplewood has seen a lot of changes recently. The new owners and director are very responsive and are investing in the building. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the receptionist is welcoming. Residents seem happy and engaged in activities. The prices are reasonable, and there are plenty of things to do. I recommend checking out Maplewood if you’re looking for a place for your loved ones!

"Shocking Negligence at Assisted Living Facility"
This spot is as rough as a jailhouse. The grub tastes terrible. It's like they forgot housekeeping entirely. You almost never see any nurses or aides. It feels like stepping into a ghost town. Every time I come by, the office is shut tight. Trying to schedule a visit is a real chore. Please, don't let your family end up here.

"Not recommended."
Place definitely not fit for a hard core criminal. Food is horrible, BAD TASTE. Housekeeping is basically non existent, lack of cleaning. Nurses are hard to find or NACS. Almost like walking into a vacant house. The majority of the time the office is closed. Impossible to set up an appointment, is like pulling teeth. Please do not send your loved ones here. I would never recommend this place, is terrifying.

"Affordable Maplewood Gardens: Friendly Staff, Poor Conditions"
I went to Maplewood Gardens with my friend who was looking for places to live independently in Spokane. showed us around. On the plus side, it's close to Mission Park, the Spokane River, Gonzaga, and downtown. It's in a pretty old neighborhood. The staff were nice. They have doctors and dentists right there. On the downside, the paint and carpets looked dirty. The apartments they showed us were REALLY dirty. They didn't even warn us or say sorry. The stairs and hallways smelled bad. There weren't any gym or exercise facilities. But, lots of residents seemed happy walking outside. The hallways were dark and narrow. Out of all the places we checked out, this was the cheapest but it showed. It was okay. People there seemed comfortable, but it was definitely basic.

"Unimpressed, Uninviting Assisted Living Facility"
Didn't like it. Place was gloomy, reminded us of a hospital. It wasn't inviting.

"Needs renovation and lacks warmth."
Maplewood Gardens seemed dirty, dark, with old cabinets. Nursing home vibe.

"Rundown Place With Unpleasant Nursing Home Feel!"
Compared to others, Maplewood Gardens was pretty lousy. It was seriously dirty all over, especially the carpet in every room we visited. They said they're planning to fix up the place this year, which might explain all the grime. The rooms didn't have enough sunlight and the kitchen cabinets were the worst I've ever seen. The people working there were nice, but overall, the place felt too much like a regular nursing home for my liking.

"Mom loves it, friendly staff, good care"
The jury is still out. HOWEVER, my mom loves Maplewood Gardens. She's been there for about two months. We don't have anything to compare assisted living to, but it seems good. It's nice to know my mom is being taken care of—I was her main caretaker for the past three years. The staff seems very, very friendly and wants to take care of their residents!

"A Happy Mom at Maplewood Gardens"
My mom's loving Maplewood Gardens. She's new there, and we're still checking things out. But it feels good knowing she's taken care of. I've been her main caretaker for three years. The staff is super friendly and caring towards residents.
