"Good tour, but not the right fit"
Our family took a tour in person, and it was a pretty good experience. We just felt that, in the end, it wasn’t the right place for our loved one.

"Great tour but location wasn’t right for our loved one"
We took a tour of this place, and it was pretty good. However, the location didn’t work for us, so it wasn’t the right fit for our family member.

"Mixed Feelings About Merrill Gardens"
We visited Merrill Gardens at Burien and thought it felt too much like a hospital. When we stepped inside, the smell of disinfectant and alcohol was overpowering. The staff were friendly, but it just wasn't the right fit.

"Severe Let-down From Bespoke Assisted Living Facility, Burien Merrill Gardens"
My mom lived at Burien Merrill Gardens for nearly a year before she left us in January. Despite the living spaces being nice and brand new, a lot of things were simply mediocre or a letdown. The food was okay. The activities were just fine. The staff, except for a few, were a downer- they seemed unfriendly, overburdened and detached at times. The saddest part was their actions when my mom passed away. They didn't express their condolences through a card, note, or call, something so simple that would've meant the world to us. They even held onto my mom's wedding band for a week without informing us, causing our undertaker to go on a stressful hunt for it. The worst bit was, on the last day of moving my mom's stuff out of her paid-up unit, we found a new tenant's name on her door and a welcome package on her bed. It was utterly insensitive. I wrote to both the Burien and corporate offices of Merrill Gardens to figure out why they'd been so cold but they never replied. This showed me that they seem to care more about their profits than the residents or their families. I'd advise researching other retirement homes before considering Merrill Gardens.

"Friendly Staff and Good Corporation but Location and Cost Factors"
I visited this place while searching for somewhere for my family member. It seems like a good company, and the building looked nice. The person who showed me around was nice and knew a lot. Even after my visit, they emailed me about a caregiver seminar, which I thought was really cool. But, I didn’t choose this place because of where it is and how much it costs. I’d tell other families to check it out though.

"Brand new, clean, and lively with great food"
When I visited, the place was brand new. They offer independent living, assisted living, and memory care. It felt very lively. People were reading and chatting in the lobby, and it seemed like a place where things happen. The marketing person who gave the tour was friendly and answered all my questions. The place was very clean, and the food looked good. The dining room was set up like a restaurant, with wait staff taking orders. However, the location was a bit too far for us.

"Fantastic New Community"
Merrill Gardens has been great for my dad. It’s a new place, only 6 or 7 months old, and they work hard to keep it looking new. The grounds and inside are very clean. The meals are awesome, the staff is friendly and helpful, and there are lots of activities like arts, crafts, a movie theater, and a van for trips. It’s also close to places like the drugstore and library, just a five-minute walk. My dad really likes that. I’d definitely recommend this place to others.

"Fantastic Community with Great People, but a Bit Costly"
The community seemed fantastic when I visited. The people were friendly, and there are nice shared spaces and activities. However, it was a bit pricier than what we were hoping for.
