"Dedicated Staff, but Care Quality Needs Improvement"

The quality of care here isn't the best, but we really like the care staff. They work very hard and probably don't get paid enough. Despite this, based on our experience, we would still recommend this place to other families.

"Better Food Needed"

We chose this community due to its location, quality, and availability. I'd recommend it if the food quality improves.

"Great Staff at Park Vista!"

Our family member hasn't tried the activities yet, but we've noticed two standout staff members at Park Vista by Bonaventure: [name removed] and [name removed]. They're doing a great job. Based on our experience so far, we'd recommend this community to other families." And for the headline:

"Unsafe Conditions and Poor Care at Park Vista Assisted Living"

My sister and I had big worries about Park Vista. They had bed bugs in memory care. My dad got badly bitten twice. We took him out. We told the state about Park Vista's bad care and health issues.

"Avoid this untrained facility! Poor care, filthy conditions, neglectful staff."

Don't use this place! My grandma was there, and it was awful. The workers don't know what they're doing. One of them even hurt my grandma by accident! Her hair was greasy, she wasn't cleaned for weeks, and her room was so dirty. They took forever to fix basic things like a clogged sink. There was poop and pee everywhere. The workers just stay in one place and yell at people to go back to their rooms. I'm going to tell everyone how bad it is here. Go somewhere else!

"Inept Assisted Living Facility: Poor Communication, Food, and Security"

Don't recommend this place for loved ones or yourself. The staff and community are not good at all. I'm not happy with anything here. They don't talk well with families. They don't call back, and sometimes they miss appointments. We keep calling, but they don't fix it. My loved one doesn't like the food here. Only four meals were good, the rest were bad. Sometimes, there are no napkins or drinks, and meals are just a hot dog and canned corn. They only gave one key to our loved one's apartment. The staff has a master key, but they don't know which one opens which door. If someone needs help, they can't get in quickly. They've had months to fix it, but it's still broken.

"Not Recommended for Living Here"

I wouldn't recommend this place.

"Friendly Staff and Convenient Location"

We picked Park Vista because of its location, friendly staff, and assistance during move-in. They assured us that if financial issues arise, we can transition to Medicaid. Room sizes are decent. Definitely recommend.

"Disappointing Experience"

I had some problems with the administration. Despite my careful planning, the room wasn't ready when we arrived. The community looks nice, though.

"Mom Thrives at Park Vista!"

My mom enjoys Park Vista retirement community. She's been there for 4 months and wants to stay.

"Headline"

My mom has been at Park Vista for 3 months. Overall, it's good. However, we often need to provide toilet paper since it's never available. Her hairbrushes and toothbrush are frequently missing, and her glasses are broken. The food is mostly good, but sometimes it's hard to eat and too much. She's in the memory care area. Mom feels lonely and spends a lot of time in bed, although that might be because she refuses to participate in any of the activities Park Vista offers.

"Loneliness and Disheartening Food in Memory Care"

Overall, things are going well. My mom has settled in pretty well. However, she seems sad and lonely. While there are other folks in the facility she can visit with, being in memory care makes it hard for her to carry on conversations. Often when I come to visit, she's in her room, just sitting or asleep. It's disheartening for someone who has worked hard all her life to end up just waiting to die. The food for the memory care folks is pretty awful.

"Highly Recommend Park Vista Memory Care Unit"

As my father's age, health, and dementia got worse, we searched for an assisted living facility that could take care of him. Park Vista's Memory Care Unit in Port Orchard met all our needs. They treated my father with kindness, patience, and professionalism. They cared for him personally, making sure his clothes and room were always clean. I highly recommend Park Vista's Memory Care Unit.

"Started well, ended poorly with Dad injured and neglected"

We were looking for a place for Dad because he needed some help. Everyone was friendly and smiling. When we came in to fill out the paperwork, they even had a sign on the desk welcoming us. They took $1000 off the entry fee to give to Dad's church and displayed a giant check with the church's name in the foyer. We found out later it was a sham and the church never got the money. Everything was good at first, but then they gave Dad his meds at 10:30 pm. We spoke to them, and they fixed it. Dad got the flu, and they had a quarantine. He fell and got hurt. SKFR checked him but didn't transport him for unknown reasons. The staff checked on him three times during the night but left him bleeding and very lethargic. They didn't call us for 12 hours. We took him to the hospital, and he was very weak and unable to communicate. He is now in a nursing home. I'm sorry I didn't check the comments before placing him there.

"Friendly Place, Disappointing Health Care"

We were trying to find a good spot for my dad as he needed some assistance. Everyone there had a friendly demeanour, always smiling and welcoming. They even had a sign with our names on it when we arrived to do the paperwork. The facility promised a $1,000 discount on their entry cost, saying it'd be donated to my dad's church. The giant check displayed prominently in the entrance even had the church's name on it. Unfortunately, we later discovered that no such donation had occurred. Initially, things seemed perfect, but the cracks began to show when they handed dad his medication at an odd hour. Although, after talking to them, they rectified that issue. Things got worse when dad caught the flu and the place had to be quarantined. Then, dad had a fall and hurt himself. Even though SKFR came to check him out, they made no attempt to transport him for some reason. The staff did check on him during the night, but only three times, leaving him there, injured and drowsy, without getting in touch with us for almost half a day. By the time we were able to get to him, he was weak and wasn't able to communicate. We've moved him into a nursing home since. I wish we had read the reviews before deciding on this place.

"A Great Place, Even on a Bad Day"

I visit often and everyone is super nice and helpful. They have great events and lots of activities. There’s a lot of staff changes, but they seem to be for the better. I’d recommend this place… even on a bad day, it’s great! Some people complain, but when I ask why they stay, they say they love it here. It must be pretty good!

"Staff Needs Improvement, But Good Food and Activities"

I'm a bit bothered because I feel like the staff at this place isn't really ready for their jobs. Too many people keep leaving their posts, which is worrying. On the bright side, my parents do enjoy the meals there. The place offers a bunch of activities, and the guy running them is putting in a good effort to make my parents partake more. The place is mostly tidy, but those hallways could use some more vacuuming.

"Skip this one: Bad food, unhappy staff, no improvements."

After a couple of weeks, I was already fed up and wanting to leave this place, but I didn't like the idea of moving. I only lasted two months before I had to go. The food was terrible, the staff were always grumpy, and employees quit all the time - there were four new waitstaff in just one month. The bosses would nod and agree with you but then not do anything to fix the problems. The place seems nice until you take a good look.

"Dad is happy and well cared for here"

This place is awesome. My dad is really happy living here. The grounds and rooms are super clean. He says the meals are good and he likes them a lot. My dad is glad they have activities for him to join. He was a bit confused about the facility and where things were, but the staff helped him out whenever he needed it. He’s being well taken care of and seems to like it here a lot.

"Feels Like Home Already!"

This place is pretty small. Since my mom moved in, I’ve met most of the staff, and they know me too. No one has left yet. We’re still new here, but so far, it’s been great!

"Great service and friendly staff"

I’m really happy with all the services. The staff is super friendly and always ready to help.

"Poor Service and High Staff Turnover - Keep Searching"

My mom has stayed there for around two years and she has seen a constant change in staff. From managers to cooks to servers, caregivers, and housekeepers, many capable people get frustrated and quit. The food quality isn't great - it's just acceptable and they often run out of things. The cleanliness has also gone downhill. Though my mom is independent and is paying a hefty sum for a good apartment, the inferior food, slow service, and lack of good housekeeping make it not worth it.

"Dad's Happy and Doing Well at Park Vista"

My father is doing great, and we’re really happy with Park Vista. The place is nice and clean, and he has housekeeping help. We haven’t had any problems with the staff they’ve been great. We’re very pleased with this community; my dad looks happy and is doing well here. I’d suggest checking out this place.

""On the Surface Fair, Deep Down Lacklustre""

Watch out. The building looks inviting, but the management is subpar. The food they serve is only passable, and they often run out of it before everyone has eaten. Most of the activities they list are just for show — they consider leaving a few board games out to be "game night". The management has removed chairs and most of the donated books, now the so-called "library" feels empty and bare. Make sure to get everything confirmed in writing. Managers change frequently and the new one often disregards what the previous one has said.

"Exceptional Care and Friendly Staff Make This Place Amazing"

The staff here are incredibly friendly. Whenever something happens, they always go the extra mile to help out with the little things, which makes a big difference. They've been outstanding in everything they do. This place is truly amazing—I can’t say enough good things about it. I’m very impressed!

"They Do Well"

I believe Park Vista Retirement does a good job overall. My only issue with the place is that their accounting system and the staff handling financial matters aren't the best.

"High Staff Turnover at Assisted Living, Not Recommended"

I've listened to countless stories from different sources about how many employees have left this assisted living place in recent years. Old folks need a stable workforce taking care of them. That's why I advise against choosing this place.

"A Recommended Facility"

My mom moved into Park Vista almost 2 weeks ago, and we've found the staff to be wonderful. They're friendly and genuinely interested in making this big lifestyle change as easy as possible. They've gone out of their way to meet her needs. The only issue Mom has mentioned is that the food isn't great. Perhaps it's an adjustment, but there's room for improvement.

"Waiting Times Concern in Beautiful Assisted Living Community"

This community was really nice, with lots of fun things to do and helpful services. My only worry was that because it's so big, my Dad might have to wait a while for assistance with getting up, getting dressed, and using the restroom.

"Bad Option Due to Frequent Failures to Meet Standards"

Bad option. They frequently fail to meet required standards.

2/5.00 Published 10 years ago

"Unorganized Facility with High Staff Turnover and Poor Decisions"

This place is a mess, with staff leaving as soon as you've gotten to know them. They even served salad to someone who doesn't have teeth. Until they hire better people, I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. I certainly wouldn't send anyone here.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Spacious and Welcoming for Elderly Residents"

I took my 91-year-old dad to check out a few assisted living places to see which one he might like. He wanted a one-bedroom place without a balcony. The apartment they showed us was big enough, not too pricey, and had everything he needed. But he was a bit bummed he couldn't bring all his stuff from his big old house or stay there forever. My sisters and I think the dining room being open all day is cool because it fits his eating schedule. Hopefully, as he gets used to it, he'll find some activities he enjoys doing regularly.

"Roomy, Open Dining, Lacks Full Cost Info"

I really liked the size of the rooms, especially the medium-sized one-bedroom. The dining room being open is also really nice, and having a new woodworking shop is a plus. However, I wish they had given me more information about any additional costs.

"A Wonderful First Visit"

Just went for the first time. Everyone was really friendly and willing to help with any questions I had. The rooms are big, with a full-size shower, fridge, bathtub, and a little sink in the kitchenette. It's a three-story building divided into two sections, and they don't have loudspeakers or constant announcements, which is nice. They don't have a nursing section or therapists onsite, but they do offer a free shuttle to nearby doctor appointments. Plus, I got to chat with the director over some pea soup and received a cute little gift bag as well.
