"Tour Guide Impresses with Community Knowledge"

This place was nice, but it felt too big for our loved one. We wanted something smaller with more attention. The tour guide knew a lot about the community.

Food service disappointing, cold meals. Staff friendly, but not recommended.

"Impressive Facility, No Short-Term Respite Care"

This place is great! We were super impressed. Only downside: no short-term respite care.

"Costly Facility Lacks Care and Capability for Memory Patients"

They don't show any consideration for the patient or their family. It's just a profit-driven business. Their memory care department confessed to being unequipped to look after people who tend to wander. Now, I'm left with arranging another person to care for my grandmother because we can't afford their hefty $10,000 monthly charge.

"Great Assisted Living Community!"

My family member lived at Patriot's Landing, and it's a wonderful place. The staff-to-resident ratio is good, ensuring everyone gets attention. The food is tasty, and there are plenty of activities. I highly recommend this community.

"Caring Place"

My family member lived at Patriot's Landing. It's a great place! There are enough staff for everyone. The food is tasty, and there are lots of fun things to do. I think it's a fantastic place and would tell others about it.

"Upscale Community, Not the Right Fit for Mom"

The place was pretty but seemed too fancy for what we needed. Walking around, I noticed a lot of the folks living there had military backgrounds. It felt like they were all retired from different services. This made me think they wouldn’t be the best buddies for my mom. Still, the place was spotless, and the people working there were super nice and ready to lend a hand.

"Poor Care and Broken Trust"

BEWARE of Memory Care at Patriots Landing. The facilities are beautiful and the food is good, but most of the Memory Care employees are NOT intellectually capable of taking care of dementia patients. I was repeatedly lied to about my father’s health and well-being while he was living at Patriots Landing. He was not given one of his medications for THREE MONTHS and the explanation that was given for the missing medication was that the medication was “lost.” Patriots Landing REPEATEDLY “dropped the ball” with my father, yet REFUSED to take any responsibility for having done so. Patriots Landing did not REALLY care about my father (or his family) – just his MONEY. I moved my father to the VA at American Lake and I’m SO glad I did. The care my father received at the VA was EXCELLENT compared to what he received at Patriots Landing

"Beware of Patriots Landing's Memory Care Negligence"

Careful with Memory Care at Patriots Landing! The place looks nice and the meals are tasty, but a lot of the staff in Memory Care aren't really smart enough to look after residents with dementia. They kept telling me fake stuff about how my dad was doing while he was there. They didn't even give him one of his pills for a whole three MONTHS. They said the medicine got "lost." Patriots Landing messed up over and over with my dad, but REFUSED to admit they were wrong. They didn't REALLY care about my dad or our family -- just his MONEY. I finally moved my dad to the VA at American Lake and I'm so relieved I did. The care my dad got at the VA was way better than what he got at Patriots Landing.

""

Both my parents really like Patriots Landing. Dad was actually more positive than Mom, but both were very impressed. Dad went from saying he'd move in 5-10 years to saying he'd move in 1-3 years. Change is hard for anyone, so this is a good sign. At least now he's not negative about the place, just about the change. We started with a free lunch in the dining room and got to choose from breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. They have everything from fish and chips, fried liver, Belgian waffles, burgers, to filet mignon. The menus range from casual to fancy. My folks loved the meal and the service. The staff knew the residents by name, were very friendly and quick, and there were plenty of them. I timed it when a waiter said he'd call for a resident's escort back to her room: it took 1 minute and 30 seconds before she arrived with a smile and greeted the lady by name. We toured the gym (not a lot of equipment), pool, victory gardens (small raised plots for each resident who wants one), library/reading room, large activities room, and a 2-bedroom apartment all inside the main complex. No weird smells and everything was clean. Then we got in an extended golf cart to see a 2-bedroom "bungalow." One happened to be empty. It was the larger of two styles, about 1650-1700 square feet including the garage. They liked the house the best. I'll forward the floor plans and pricing list too. It's similar to what they have now but smaller. There are also some other houses (25 in all, some detached, some duplexes) that back up to the woods with a back porch very much like their house now. It's amazing how similar they looked. They even have deer wandering around. The facility owns 27 acres around them, so no adjacent building or development is going to happen. Mom said it's isolated from any other community. But at the same time, she liked that no one can develop on top of them because they're on 27 acres. Mom mentioned how hard it would be to part with some of her furniture and stuff, but that will be true no matter where they go. The houses are for independent living only but include maintenance of inside and grounds/yards, one meal a day, all facilities in the main complex, utilities, TV, weekly house cleaning and linen change, and transportation to medical appointments. The main complex has independent, assisted, and memory care on site. Assisted is a la carte, and they gave us a list of those services and costs per month added to rent. I thought I had it, but it looks like it got into Mom's packet. I'll make a copy next time I go over, probably this weekend to celebrate their 10-year AA anniversary. They have a waiting list. Some people on it want to move in 3-9 months, 1 year, or 5 years. She said the lists vary depending on which housing you request, but if you need to get in before your particular unit type is ready and you've already paid the $4,000, they can move you into something else until your first choice is available, and then you are next in line as an in-house resident. She said it very rarely happens that someone who wants in can't get a place at all. The wait list and registration cost are the same $4,000, and once paid, it locks in at that rate no matter when you choose to move in. When folks come up on the wait list for the type of place they want, Patriots Landing (PL) calls. If you aren't ready, they just move to the next person. Folks do not lose their place at the top of the list and have the first right of refusal every time the property choices become available, after in-house residents that is. If at any time they decide they don't want to go there, PL refunds the entire $4,000. Patriots Landing offers a 2-day expenses-paid stay at their facility to let future residents be sure they like the atmosphere and can connect with the other residents. Very cool.

"Kind Staff and Great Care at Patriots Landing"

I’m upset by negative reviews about Patriots Landing. My dad has lived here for 3 years, and I’ve seen many kind and caring staff members. It’s easy to write reviews online, but I suggest visiting Patriots Landing yourself. Talk to the staff, management, and residents to see the place for yourself. Don’t rely on others’ opinions. The residents’ experiences are what really matter!

"Problems with Patriots Landing: No Response and Lack of Care"

Firstly, I want to mention that my mom really loved her apartment at Patriots Landing. She was pretty healthy and took care of herself when she initially moved in. We chose this place as it was supposed to provide assisted living if needed. But it was disappointing when my mom's health started deteriorating due to dementia and I reached out to the nursing director for help. I kept trying to get in touch for six weeks and only got one missed call in return. I called back immediately, but was sent to voicemail and I was never contacted after that. It would've been great if more care was provided to my mom, but no one called me back. Sadly, my mother passed away. My sister tried to clear up some aspects regarding the final expenses, specifically to check if we could get refund for the meals mom didn't consume after she passed and during the time we were clearing out her things. She didn't get a response initially and so she tried again after a few days. This time, the receptionist got back to her, but stated that there would be no refund for the meals. The director didn't bother to call us back and we were left with unanswered queries. The most irksome bit is that the contract mentioned that we were eligible for refunds when mom wasn't there. This was something that was even implemented twice when she stayed at a nursing home. In the end, I struggle to recommend Patriots Landing. The place sure is pretty, but the communication is awful. You can't easily speak to anyone and no one bothers to reply to voicemails if you've got a problem, question or need additional services.

"Beautiful Location, Poor Communication Skills"

To begin, my mom really liked her apartment at Patriots Landing. When she moved in, she was fairly healthy and self-sufficient. We picked Patriots Landing because it offered the possibility of transitioning into assisted living when necessary. But, when my mom's dementia became more severe, I called the nursing director to ask about assisted living. I kept calling for six weeks without getting a response, and when they finally called back, I had missed it. Even though I called right back and left a voicemail, I never heard from them again. I really wanted to arrange better care for my mom but couldn't because the nursing director never called back. Sadly, my mom passed away. My sister called to ask about the final bill, particularly to get credit for the meals mom didn't use after she passed and we were moving out her stuff. When my sister didn't get a response, she called again and left a voicemail. The only call back she received was from the receptionist, who said we wouldn't be getting any meal credit. The director didn't call back and the questions regarding the bill went unanswered. According to my mom's contract, we should have gotten credit when she wasn't there, and we were indeed given credits twice when she was at a nursing home. All in all, I just can't recommend Patriots Landing. While it's a beautiful place, if you run into any issue, have queries or need additional services, it's really hard to get in touch with anyone and your voicemails usually go unanswered.

"Decent But Not The Right Fit For Us"

This place was pretty tidy. However, it cost more than we planned to spend, and they didn't offer the type of care we were searching for. The food was decent, but it didn't seem like the right fit for our family member.

"Great place, but too expensive"

My tour of Patriots Landing was great. It's a nice place with friendly people. The only problem was that it cost way more than I could afford. I have a set income for the year, and I can't spend it all on an apartment. But the community was very nice. I recommend it to anyone who can afford it.

"Best Care Value and Service for Memory Care Facilities"

In my opinion, you can't beat the value here. Our family moved our mom, who has dementia, to Patriots Landing "Memory Lane" less than a month ago. We’re really happy with how attentive the staff is. The activities are fun, and the place is very clean. Having a licensed nurse on duty all the time is great and not common at other memory care places. The cost is fair, clear, and has a set limit, which is hard to find elsewhere. Plus, many extra services that cost more at other places are included in the rent at Patriots Landing. Our mom has been doing better in every way since we moved her here.

"New Management Ruins Patriots Landing, Delivers Lackluster Services"

This place used to be top-notch, but the new bosses have messed it up. The food stinks, with the specials often being some fancy-named dish that's really just a dry chunk of meat covered in strange sauce and overcooked veggies. Housekeeping isn't up to par and sometimes the cleaners don't even show up. What used to be attractive landscaping is now full of neglected flower beds begging for water and care. Trying to get a response from the administration is like pulling teeth - they don't call back and you can end up spending weeks trying to get an answer. To boot, it costs a ton and the rent for my mom's apartment has gone up each year. My family really regrets moving my mom into Patriots Landing.

"New Management Wreaks Havoc on Once High-quality Assisted Living"

This place used to be really nice, but it's been ruined under new people in charge. The food is awful, with special meals that sound good but are basically just dry meat with strange tasting sauce and overcooked greens. Cleaning services are not up to par and sometimes, no one comes by for a whole week to tidy up. The outdoor area, which was once beautiful, now looks like it needs a lot of care with dying plants. Don't count on a fast response if you're trying to reach the person in charge, it could take several weeks of your constant calling. It's really pricey and the rent for my mom's apartment has increased every year. My family really wishes we hadn't moved my mom to Patriots Landing".

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

My mom stayed here for two years. It started out great, but things changed. The people living here are friendly, and they offer transportation to doctors' offices. The staff is kind and helpful, and the grounds are lovely. They have lots of activities for most folks. But watch out for the resident's agreement – it can cause problems later. The memory care unit is terrible; most residents just sit in front of the TV, and the carpets are old. The management staff doesn't listen to families.

"Disappointing Turn After Promising Start at Assisted Living Facility"

My mom stayed here for two years. At first, it was nice. The other residents are sociable, and they give rides to their doctor’s appointments. The workers are nice and always ready to help. The surroundings are really beautiful, plus they have plenty of activities for pretty much everybody. Just be careful with their residential contract or you'll end up getting cheated. The memory care ward is truly awful - they mostly have their residents just watching TV, and the carpets are dirty. It seems like the management team doesn't really listen to our family's concerns.

"Nice place, but too far for regular family visits"

This was my first choice. I really liked it. The people were nice, and the place was really nice. It was perfect, except for the location. It wasn't close enough for family to visit often.

"Friendly Staff and Great Activities Make for Happy Residents"

The staff here are really helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The residents seem comfortable, happy, and well taken care of. The meals are great with daily chef's choices. They also have a good variety of activities every week, both in the community and at local places. Plus, they provide transportation to JBLM facilities and churches.

"My loved one is thrilled with the activities and care at Patriots Landing"

My loved one is so happy living at Patriots Landing. He wanted a place with lots of activities, and that's exactly what he found. He's always busy and even takes part in pool tournaments. The meals are fantastic and they’re very welcoming to family visits. The facility is always spotless with no unpleasant smells. They have weekly housekeeping and a nice laundry room for personal clothes. Patriots Landing is perfect for military families or anyone connected to them.

"Review of Assisted Living at Patriots Landing in DuPont, WA"

This facility is close to everything my father considers important: medical services at Madigan, proximity to his doctors and specialists, GHC, and his family and friends. We hope to receive my father's medical transfer information, care evaluation, and assistance with applying for VA A&A for veterans. So far, everyone has been treated well, welcoming, and informative. My father feels at ease here, even though the process isn't complete yet.

I dig it, but I'm unsure about fitting in with the military folks. It has a swimming pool.

"Assisted Living Facility: A Castle-Like Haven for Mom"

This place is really nice, like a castle almost. My mom will love feeling like a princess here. There's so much to do too, like eating in a big dining area or a smaller, quieter one. There's even a billiards room, a place to watch movies, and a pool and gym. Plus, there's a salon for getting hair and nails done and a little bistro. They're super friendly here, and the rooms are big. Mom's apartment is like a real home, and even the Memory Care room is nice and roomy. Only problem is they never had a smoker before, but they figured out a solution.
