"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Compassion and Responsiveness"
An assisted living facility should always prioritize the well-being of those with dementia. It's not right to deny medication just because someone returns late from a family outing. Cancelled meetings without explanation are frustrating, especially when discussing important matters concerning a senior's care. Any changes, like not allowing a beloved pet, should involve the family in a respectful manner. Lastly, slow response times to calls for help raise serious concerns about the facility's ability to meet residents' needs.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Communication and Maintenance"
We like how easy it is to talk to the managers. The helpers really seem to care about the people living here. The folks who plan activities do a good job. Not so good things. Lots of people leaving their jobs here, which is not good. We don’t get letters every month from the boss to tell us what’s happening. We don’t always know when things are changing, like who’s working or what we’re eating. There’s no nurse here every day, which is worrying. The place doesn’t look nice. The floors and carpets are dirty, and they were supposed to fix them in July, but now it’s maybe August or September. When we came for a tour, they said lots of good things, but most of it didn’t happen.

"Unacceptable Conditions, Neglect at Assisted Living Facility Reported"
Diappointed and Upset Over Failure to Meet Basic Needs" Our reserved space got handed to someone else. And the room we actually got? Filthy. We had to push back our move-in day just so it could be cleaned properly. Except, it never was. There were stains on the carpets and weird, old splatters on the walls that looked like vomit. Plus, the blinds on the first floor couldn't even close. The elevator was broken in this three-story building. No nurses were on staff, which I found out when my family member wasn't given her chemo pills for two days. I had other worries about how they were giving out medication too. Breakfast comes out at 8:30 am, but the trays for residents who have to stay in their rooms didn't arrive until 10:45 am, cold and sitting on a wet paper plate. There were also two nights where my family member didn’t get dinner at all. The first time we brought it up, an aide said she decided not to eat, which was just not true. The same aide also claimed she was working until 10 pm, but that wasn’t true either. When I walked around, no one was at any of the service desks on any floor. The only person actually working was a med tech giving out drugs. I will be calling the proper authorities for all the residents' sakes.

"Mixed Feelings About Royal Columbian"
Royal Columbian was our second choice. The staff here were very friendly, but the residents didn’t seem as happy as at other places we visited. The facility itself needed some updates and care.

"Unprepared Staff, Lackluster Facility Interior, & No Follow-Up"
We showed up for our arranged tour and the staff had no idea we were coming and weren't ready to show us around. The outside of the facility looks great, like it's brand new. But the inside, from what we could see, didn’t seem as nice. As we couldn't fully tour the inside, I don’t really have much to say about it. What I do know is I am not impressed because they didn't get back to us about the missed tour. I don't understand why the process to sign up for tours doesn't work with this place.

"Inconsistent Staff and Mediocre Food Disappointing Stay for Mom"
My mom stayed there for about a year and a half. I feel like the people who work there want to do a good job, but they struggle to keep their staff. We had problems because there weren't enough workers, and the ones they did have didn't seem to know what they were doing or didn't like their jobs. The food was alright, but they didn't offer much fresh food or fruit. Unfortunately, it was a letdown.

"Mom's Unhappiness and High Cost Led to Move from Facility"
My mom lived there for six years. It was a great place, but it started to change in ways that were rough. She wasn't happy there anymore and the price was too high for us, so we decided to have her live with us.
