"Poor Management Leads to Disappointing Experience at Retirement Home"
I'm really bummed about how my family member was treated at this place. I was hopeful when we first visited this retirement home. It felt cozy and the staff seemed nice. But things got bad quickly after my family member moved in. A great activity director who was there when we visited quit just three weeks later because of the management. A lot of other employees have quit for the same reason. The manager, in my view, treats the elderly folks there like they're kids. She doesn't want to hear complaints and honestly, she doesn't seem to care. I think this place could be a great home for seniors, but it needs someone who's caring, kind, and patient to run it, and she's not that person. It's really sad. Please, if you're thinking of moving a loved one here, do your homework first.

"Unhappy reviewer warns of poor management at assisted living facility"
The living center's location and building are totally clean and attractive. But, there's something fishy going on that everyone looking for a place to live should know about. Before, people would hang around, hoping for their turn to get a spot here. But now, people can move in anytime - that's a big change that raises questions. Ever since the new boss (we'll leave out names for now) started running things, loads of staff members have left. The food there is fairly decent, but only if they actually have a cook on hand, which isn't always the case. Even scarier, employees have quit because they felt unsafe. If you're considering placing a family member or someone you care for here, make sure you've done your homework. Talk to people who are living there right now, and some who used to live there. Don't let the boss or any other staff suggest who you should have a chat with, and try to talk when the bigwigs aren't around. And, seriously think about recording your chats with the boss; otherwise, what you say might get twisted. Bottom line: I think the new boss isn't really cut out for this job. If a resident has a problem, she just tells them to hit their button -- she doesn't want to bother with their problems. She's been known to scare or try to push around the people who live there. Their boss has even thought about having a watchman in the dining room to make sure no one talks badly about this place. If your friend or family member can voice their opinions and stand up for themselves, you might want to look for a different spot.

"Inadequate care and poor treatment at Assisted Living Facility"
The folks in charge aren't truthful, and they often fail to remember to administer patients' medicine, or even neglect to order our medications. So we end up not getting our needed pills. I witness the residents and the staff being spoken to harshly and disrespectfully by the main boss.

I think Aster Retirement Community is really nice. The staff is friendly and works hard, and the place looks good. They have lots of activities and events, and my loved one says the food is great! There have been a few small maintenance problems, but they fix them quickly. Our loved one seems really happy here.
