"Caring staff overshadowed by poor management practices."

My grandma lived at Autumn Bay for almost a year. The caregivers were really nice and caring. They did her hair, painted her nails, and did arts & crafts with her. But I'm giving them a low rating because of their bad management. 2020 was tough with COVID-19. I get why they had strict rules about visits at first. But when grandma needed me, arguing with their management to see her was always a problem. I'm one of her two POAs. Right from the start, I didn't have good experiences with their management. I had to explain what "Hospice" meant, even though I'm a nurse. When they told me grandma was dying, I still couldn't see her. They said I could come during business hours the next day, even though we knew she wouldn't make it through the night. She died at 7am the next day. I couldn't say goodbye to the woman who raised me. It didn't matter if I saw her at 5pm or 9am the next day. The managers there lack compassion and empathy. I'm grateful to the caregivers for taking care of grandma, but if I knew how bad the management was, she wouldn't have lived there.

"Poor Management Overshadows Compassionate Care at Autumn Bay Assisted Living"

My grandma lived at Autumn Bay almost a year. The helpers were kind and caring. They did her hair, nails, and crafts. But the bosses were bad. They made it hard to visit during COVID, even when she was very sick. I’m a nurse and had to fight to see her. When she was dying, they still said no. She passed away without me there. The bosses were rude and unkind. Thanks to the caregivers, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

"Horrified by Disrespect and Poor Treatment at Assisted Living"

I dropped by to see my Granny today, and I just can't express how bad they treated her. The workers there spoke about her with disrespect and even swore while doing so. It's really upsetting for the people who live there. I hope that God keeps an eye on everyone there and that the staff learn to be nice to all our family members who live there.

"Avoid this Facility: Awful Care and Unhealthy Living Conditions"

This place was the worst my dear parents ever lived in. They couldn't stand it and asked me to find them a new home. I regret not doing it sooner. Even though I paid for extra services, the care was terse and unacceptable. My father would always end up in other people's clothes. Each time I visited, I found their room in such disorder, with untidy closets and an uncomfortable atmosphere. My father got an infection, which my sister and I had to handle alone since the staff was indifferent. The food here was really bad, hastily and thoughtlessly cooked. The owner and her daughter painted a false perfect picture during their sales pitch. When my mother passed, I quickly moved my dad to a far superior place in Brookfield. It cost the same, but unlike Autumn Bay, they took care of everything. My resentment for this facility is strong. They were just TERRIBLE. I felt an awful guilt knowing my parents were poorly looked after for 6 months while I was living out of town. Do not choose this facility. It is disastrous, and the nursing staff and owners are dreadful. After moving my dad, I reported them to the health department. The place is a complete rip-off. The money is all the owner cares about, nurses don't show any concern either. They would rather smoke outside. And some aides are only part-time student workers. From the dismal environment, insufferable staff, unappetizing food, lack of care, and absence of compassion or love, this place is simply HORRIBLE!

"DO NOT TRUST Autumn Bay with your loved ones. HORRENDOUS!"

This assisted living facility was a nightmare for my dear parents. They constantly pleaded for me to relocate them, which I regret not doing sooner. Despite paying for extra services, the staff were impolite and unprofessional. My dad was improperly dressed in others' clothing and their living space was consistently disorganized and unclean. When my dad contracted an infection, the staff provided no assistance, leaving the burden on my sister and me. The meals served were dreadful, clearly not made with any care or consideration. The owner and her daughter presented an impressive and attractive sales pitch that turned out to be completely false. As soon as my mother passed away, I transferred my dad to a lovely facility in Brookfield for the same price, which provided all that Autumn Bay failed to. I absolutely detest Autumn Bay and felt helpless knowing my parents lacked the care they needed for six months while I was out of town. I implore you not to trust your loved ones with this facility. It's awful and the nurses and owners are negligent. I reported them to the health department when I transferred my dad. The owner is solely interested in profit, not patient well-being. And the nurses are no better. They prioritize breaks over their duties. Some of the assistants are merely part-time student employees. Overall, the facility was gloomy, the staff was uncaring, the food was unhealthy, and there was no compassion or kindness. It was absolutely horrendous.

"Adjusting to limited meals; otherwise clean with friendly staff."

I chose this place since it's nearby. My loved one's adjusting, meal options limited. Staff's friendly, place clean. I take her out often.

"Wonderful Staff and Great Care Feels Like Family!"

I highly recommend this place to anyone. The staff is wonderful and really takes great care of my loved one, making sure she's safe. She feels very comfortable there and is never alone she’s either outside or with the staff. The food seems really good too. On one visit, I noticed she was eating more than usual, which made me very happy. Overall, I'm really pleased with my choice of this community.

"A Fresh Start"

I really liked that this community is only about 2 years old, and it looks very nice. The staff are confident and thorough in providing care. However, I noticed that the community has an open yard with a small 4-foot gate to secure residents. I felt that if my mom wanted to, she could get over that gate. Lastly, there's another waitlist to move in.

"Autumn Bay Cares for Passionate Residents"

The caregivers paid special attention to my mother-in-law, taking her for walks because it was her passion.

"Inadequate Care and Unprofessional Conduct at Assisted Living Facility"

Unprofessionalism Runs Rampant at This Assisted Living Facility" This assisted living facility is lacking severely in professionalism. It felt like I was back in high school dealing with the owner. They make promises about their services that they don't deliver on. They're more concerned with paperwork than actual care, probably because of so many issues they need to hide. The welfare of the residents is their last priority. My family member had a fall - and ended up in the hospital. When I tried to get in touch with the owner, she dismissed the incident, stating it wasn't an emergency and questioning my need to be informed. They failed to properly follow-up on her care after returning from the hospital and consistently mismanage her medication timing. This facility is a nightmare. There's no openness or effective communication. They act like bullies, not caretakers. I strongly advise you to stay away.

"Appalling Lack of Professionalism and Care in Assisted Living"

This place isn't a professional operation at all - dealing with the boss made me feel like I was back in middle school. They make big promises about their services, but all they care about is paperwork, probably to distract from all the mistakes they make. The well-being of the residents seems to be their least concern. My relative had a fall and ended up in the hospital. When I reached out to the owner, I got a dismissive response suggesting it wasn't important enough to warrant a phone call. And even after they came back from the hospital, the facility failed to provide the proper follow-up care, or the correct medicines at the correct times. I'd advise keeping your distance - there's a lack of communication and they act like bullies.

"Facility Falls Short on Care, Staffing, and Management"

This place doesn't have enough staff to help like they should. They don't have a nurse there every day, especially on weekends. The boss isn't acting right, and the workers don't know what they're doing because they keep leaving. Even though the building is small and new, they say stuff that isn't true. The whole mess starts with the people in charge they don't have it together.

"Lack of Professionalism and Untruths at Assisted Living Facility"

They don't have enough staff for the care required. There's no nurse on the premises every day, particularly on weekends. The director isn't professional and the members of staff aren't adequately trained - there's a constant change in staff. It's a compact and new establishment, and they feed you with a bunch of fibs. The issue starts from the highest authority and trickles down. The management is all over the place.

"What a Disappointing Experience"

It makes me really sad that my loved one had to spend their last days in this place. I still feel bad about their rule of limiting our visits to just 15 minutes a day. They said it was for the new resident, but now I wish I had spent more time with my family member. AB discouraged us from doing that. Don't they understand? These residents are scared and lonely when they move here. Having a familiar family member would be comforting. And don't be fooled by the Activity Calendar – most of those activities never happen, especially at night and on weekends. What a disaster this whole experience was. I'll always regret not getting my loved one out of there sooner; unfortunately, they passed away suddenly.

"Disastrous Facility Experience Leaves Lasting Regret"

I'm heartbroken that my relative spent their final days in this place. Looking back, I so wish I had spent more time with my loved one, but the facility discouraged me. They don't seem to realize that the residents are scared, lonely, and confused when they move in, and having a familiar relative close would have been comforting. Don't be deceived by the Activity Calendar either - most of the activities don't even happen, especially in the evening and over the weekends. For instance, Lawrence Welk was scheduled, but when you'd arrive, the show wasn't on and most of the residents were already in their rooms for bedtime! This whole ordeal has been a mess and I'll always regret not moving my loved one out sooner before they, sadly, passed away unexpectedly.

"Think Twice Before Sending Parents to Autumn Bay"

My folks were staying in Autumn Bay for more than a year. The property was completely new, well-kept, and sunlit. Facility managers promised a round the clock nurse, dedicated chef, among other amenities. Unfortunately, none of these promises were kept. Many competent staff members have left and those who have stayed would be better off pursuing different careers. We regret choosing this place for our parent. The director, always implicated the residents whenever we conveyed concerns about their care. During visits, I've observed instances of poor treatment towards some residents. I saw employees making fun of residents while their spouses were present, which was just distressing. Loud disagreements were often heard during bathing times, coupled with an overarching absence of empathy. There are definitely superior options out there. This place should not be your choice for your elderly parent.

"Disappointing Visit to Assisted Living Facility Reveals Negligence"

We heard about this place from an earlier resident before they died. We made two appointments to visit, but the managers never showed up. We didn't get any calls to tell us they wouldn't be there, which we felt was unacceptable considering we traveled from far. We asked a staff member if they could show us around, and they agreed. We noticed a pile of dirty dishes on the counter, all the residents were huddled in the living room watching television, and workers were lounging on the couches with their phones. The event schedule hadn't been updated. When we inquired if the caregivers were trained as certified nursing assistants, they apparently weren't. We decided this place wasn't right for our dad. We thanked the staff member who showed us around before leaving. Based on our observation, this place does not handle its responsibilities in a professional manner to care for people's loved ones.

"Neglectful and Unqualified Staff at Assisted Living Facility"

We were told about this place by a former resident before they died. Twice, we booked a visit, but no one from the management ever showed up to guide us, and they didn't even call to tell us they wouldn't be there. We don't live here, so this was really bad for us. We asked a worker to show us around instead, which they did. There was a pile of dirty dishes on the counter. All the residents seemed to be just sitting in the living room watching TV, and the staff was just lounging on sofas playing with their phones. The schedule of activities wasn't even updated. We asked if all the caregivers had CNA certification, and were told no. That's when we knew this wasn't the right place for our dad. We thanked the girl who showed us around and left. From what we saw, this place doesn't seem professional or reliable enough to care for anyone's beloved family member.

"Warning: Inexperienced Staff, Illogical Rules at This New Facility"

The director (who's also the owners' daughter), as well as the top nurse, are both young and lack the necessary knowledge about conditions like Parkinson's or other memory care diseases, which they supposedly specialize in. As a result, their staff training is subpar. This establishment is filled with silly rules that don't provide any real benefits for the residents or visitors. Be cautious; don't be fooled by how new they are. Check the high rate of resident deaths or people leaving the place, and you may reconsider if it's a good option.

"Watch Out: Inexperienced Staff and High Turnover"

The boss lady, who's the owner's daughter, and the main nurse are both young and not too knowledgeable. They don't get how to care for folks with Parkinson's or memory issues even though they say they do. As a result, the staff under them aren't trained well either. This place has so many silly rules, none of them help the people living there or their visitors. Be smart about this spot; don't get tricked by its shiny newness. Look into the high number of people passing away or leaving, and it might make you rethink about considering this place.

"Scheduled guide absent, fewer activities disappointed in facility tour"

The tour we took wasn't scheduled and the person supposed to guide us wasn't there. An employee did walk us through but didn't know answers to all our questions. We felt it was too tiny, with not many people to talk to and not enough fun stuff to do. The only person living there we saw was a lady sitting in a wheelchair watching TV. We don't want to think about this place anymore.

"Nice place, good staff, and average price"

It's a really nice place, and we're happy with it. It's clean, and the staff is friendly. Like most places, it's pretty expensive, but the price is about average. They're good at responding to any concerns or requests. She loves the food here. We also liked that it's a smaller community and in a nice location.

"Autumn Bay is clean, safe, and staff is very helpful"

Autumn Bay is a really nice place. It's clean and well taken care of. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Moving my mother here was a good decision. I’m very happy with this choice because I know my mom is safe.

"Neglectful Care and Limited Activities: Disappointing Assisted Living Facility"

Terrible ordeal. The owner's family seems only focused on their business and the assisted living center. Regrettably, it feels like the residents' needs are their last priority. The care given to the residents feels negligent. It's really a heartbreaking state of affairs for everyone living there. The activities they provide are quite enjoyable, but they don't happen as frequently as they should. The food served is pretty good though.

"Outstanding Care and Comfortable Living at Autumn Bay"

My parents lived in two other places before moving here a week ago. Autumn Bay is a small, family-owned facility, which is important to me. Mom has dementia and Dad is physically weak. They have a nice, spacious apartment together. People with dementia aren't separated from others. The open layout of the facility seems to make everyone feel good. Everyone eats together. The staff is helpful, caring, experienced, and knows how to care for the elderly. They made the move-in process very smooth for my parents and me. Autumn Bay's costs are similar to other places, but the service is outstanding. I think we made a great choice, and my parents seem comfortable.
