"Brookdale: Expensive, poor care, communication issues, billing problems."
Brookdale charges too much for subpar care. It’s disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend it. The staff doesn’t communicate well, and they’re often short-staffed. Cleaning is inconsistent, and nurses are slow to make changes. Health check-ups are duplicated unnecessarily. Administrators don’t respond promptly to complaints, and billing is often wrong. Problems everywhere.

"Neglect, Poor Cleanliness Observed at Assisted Living Facility"
The place was really dirty. My grandma's sheets were stained and once, they used dirty t-shirts as pillow covers. We found pills scattered in drawers and lying on the floor. Her personal stuff kept disappearing and she was often found wearing other people's clothes. They even put her in men's shirts a few times. The button she used to ask for help was out of her reach and when we pressed it, the staff didn't come quickly or sometimes, they didn't come at all. Communication with the people in charge was really bad. They couldn't figure out how to set up a doctor's appointment through video call. My family wasn't informed if appointments got missed. The plans for her care, despite getting more expensive, were not shared with us. We didn't even know the rates were going up until we saw the higher bill. It felt like we were paying for care that she wasn't getting.

"Warm, caring, and engaging assisted living facility"
Brookdale gets a 5-star rating in all respects! Mom needed a warm, inviting assisted living facility with staff who were ready to make her stay filled with caring and considerate individuals. The staff greet Mom and my family with genuine interest. They come to Mom's room to ask if she wants to join the scheduled activities. A calendar is provided for her and everyone to see what activities are available for the whole month. Residents can join social activities that engage the body and soul from 8 AM to 6:30 PM daily. Mom is finally getting the socialization she missed while living alone. Mom's apartment is a studio style that offers her the convenience of a small apartment without the upkeep. Garbage is picked up daily, light cleaning is done when needed, and laundry service is included. Other apartment sizes are available. Pets are welcome to stay with residents. There are various rooms providing different services for the residents. An activity room serves as a library, craft area, exercise room, and place for religious services. The dining room has a formal atmosphere, and each meal is of the highest nutritious quality, with alternatives available if requested. The facility has grounds where residents can try their gardening skills if they wish. Brookdale is spacious, with lounging rooms where residents can enjoy the company of others, sit peacefully alone, be with family, or watch a movie. All public rooms have comfortable lounging furniture with soothing colors that make you want to stay a while. The beautiful gas fireplaces in the dining room and adjoining lounge are a nice touch. Mom is so fortunate to be living in such a wonderful facility that fits her budget. We couldn't ask for anything more!

"Caring Community with Enjoyable Activities"
I'm happy with how things are going at this community for my loved one. The staff provides great care, and my husband enjoys the activities. I'd definitely recommend it for assisted living.
