"Brookdale Review: Mixed Experience"
Our aunt wore clothes with feces on them. A week after she moved in, they charged her more money (which she didn’t have). They claimed my sister agreed to it at our mother’s funeral (not true). She took medications without supervision. We found pills all over her room. Housekeeping was infrequent. Some staff were kind, others caused trouble. I’d never recommend Brookdale. Meals were good, but no resident activities. Employees left after we complained.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living: Staffing and Quality Concerns"
We're facing problems with the staff at the moment. They're short on staff, which we get, but we have to practically beg to get our loved ones' clothes changed, laundry done, and remind them constantly about bathing. The food is really bad, and the housekeeping seriously needs to get better. We're just really upset about all of this.

"Great Tour Experience with Friendly and Helpful Staff"
We visited this place and had a great experience. They answered all our questions and gave us a lot of useful information. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made sure we didn’t feel rushed. They took their time with our family, which we appreciated. I’d suggest checking out this community for yourself.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Room Size"
We visited the community for a tour, and our guide did a great job. They answered my questions and showed us around. However, my mom felt the room was too small. She wanted her own apartment, not just a room. We explored other options.

"Safe, friendly community with good meals and activities"
My mother is still getting used to moving here, but I think she is safe and well cared for. I’m comfortable with her being in this facility. The community is lovely with friendly people. They offer good meals and enjoyable activities for the residents. I hope my mother feels more at home soon. I’d recommend this place to friends and family.

"Consider a tour despite small rooms and bad smell"
I toured this community but didn't like the small rooms. There was a bad smell from something they cooked. They do have activities for the residents. Families might want to tour this place for their loved one.

"A Great Place with Kind Staff and Delicious Meals"
This is a great place, and we had a good but brief experience. My brother-in-law stayed here for a little while, and he was happy during his stay. Everyone is really kind and helpful. He loved the food and enjoyed his time here. I highly recommend this community; it's a really nice place.

"Liked it, but aunt wasn't accepted"
I really liked Brookdale Sussex when I toured it, but they turned down my aunt because of her needs. We picked another place, but this one is great for someone looking.

"Caring Community with Great Staff!"
The place is super clean, and the staff is super nice. They always keep us informed and encourage everyone to join activities. Mom loves the food, too. They treat everyone with respect.

"High Fee and No Showers in Rooms"
This place was nice but had a big one-time fee. I didn't like that the rooms didn't have showers. The staff-to-patient ratio was 9-1. This didn't meet my husband's needs.

"Friendly staff but small space and limited activities"
The staff was really nice, and my dad liked the people. However, the place was a bit small, so there weren’t many activities. The hallways were narrow, which made it tough to get around, especially with wheelchairs. They only had one-room studio apartments, so the rooms were quite small.

"Nice place, but not secure enough for wandering seniors"
We visited this place while searching for care options for our loved one. The facility looked nice, was clean, and the staff were really friendly. However, it wasn't a locked facility, which wouldn’t be safe for seniors who wander. So, it wasn't the best choice for Dad.

"Confusing Care and Supervision at Sterling House"
Right now, I'm not understanding Sterling House. My mother tried to get off the back porch twice in one day, and even though she didn't get off, we were told she needed 24-hour supervision. So, we had to have family take time off work to sit with her. We hired someone on Sunday, but since then, she got out, and now they're saying she doesn't need supervision anymore. I don't know what's going on. The guy managing it is new and young. Most people there are in wheelchairs, and only three are mobile. My mom has dementia and can get agitated, so it's kind of like a learning experience.
