"Caring and Inclusive Assisted Living"
I highly recommend this place. The care is excellent, and they won't kick you out just because you're not eligible for Hospice or Medicaid.

"Poor communication and false statements from Bur Oak facility."
A family hired us to find a suitable assisted living facility, specifically Bur Oak, for their mom. I tried reaching out to [name ], but was unable to get a response. After the family intervened, I got a voicemail, but my response was not answered. I tried complaining, as I couldn't communicate with [name ] and found out this person is actually the owner. Months later, I finally spoke to someone who unwarrantedly blamed it on "phone tag". They falsely stated to the family that they attempted to reach me often which is untrue. This not only maligns me, but makes me wonder what they're hiding.

"Caring Staff and Personalized Care at Burr Oak Manor"
The staff at Burr Oak Manor has been amazing. They take great care of our loved one, going beyond our expectations. They focus solely on residents' needs. If our loved one skips activities, the coordinator plays checkers with him in his room. We appreciate this one-on-one time. Overall, we highly recommend this community to other families.

"Disappointing facility, small apartments, rude administrator, but friendly staff"
I found Burr Oak Manor to be in poor condition. The apartment they showed me was in the basement, and it was really bad. The employees were nice, but the person in charge was somewhat impolite. The studio apartments were incredibly tiny. Overall, I wasn't impressed.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living with Nature Views"
I think others would really like this place for their loved ones. The residents here don't eat by themselves in their rooms. They do lots of activities with the residents and help them keep doing what they enjoy. There's a big glass wall with lots of birds, which brings outdoor nature inside for everyone to enjoy.

"Affordable and Positive Experience at Burr Oak Manor"
We picked Burr Oak Manor due to its location and affordability. It’s a smaller place with around 35 residents. Our experience has been positive, and I’d recommend it.

"Feels Like Home, Not a Nursing Facility"
A big thank you to the staff at Burr Oak Manor. My parents were treated with respect and care. The place is always clean and well-kept, and they keep updating it. The activities are fun and include everyone. Questions were answered quickly, and visitors were always welcome. This place feels more like a loving home than a nursing facility. Thank you so much, the [name removed] family.

"Small, caring facility with family atmosphere."
This facility has been very accommodating to our mother, who has advanced Alzheimer's. It is a smaller place, so she doesn't have to wait for care. They try to create a family environment, where their personal rooms are like bedrooms, but they mingle the patients in common areas with activities and games during the day.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility Experience"
I saw some good reviews, but there were a lot of bad ones that made me unsure. The building is old, and there are issues with patients wandering off. They don't have enough staff, and the food is boring and not tasty.

"Caregivers neglectful, food subpar; not recommended for loved ones."
The caregivers here mostly seem nice and caring towards our loved one, but sometimes they forget to give them their medicine on time. Also, some of the caregivers serve the residents their meals and then vanish for a long time. We think they need to hire more caregivers to fix this. The food they serve is often cold, and honestly, serving a hot dog and Fritos doesn't feel like a home-cooked meal. Overall, we wouldn't suggest this place for anyone's loved one.

"Danger Alert: Poor Treatment and Secretive Behavior at facility"
ALERT! Horrible Experience! The workers are disrespectful and seem troubled by any questions. They don't communicate well with families. They're weirdly secretive...the staff doesn't even seem to like having visitors around. Everything about this place is kept under wraps. My mom's health got worse really quickly after she moved in. I never even saw anyone helping her eat or drink. Please, do yourself a favor and look up their history of complaints!

"Atrocious Care and Communication at this Facility"
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! Truly, there aren't enough words to convey how terrible their care and customer service have been. After they deceive you out of your hard-earned money, forget about them looking after your loved one. Their communication is just awful.

"Dissatisfied Visit to Fortress-Like Community"
I really didn't enjoy my visit to this place. I arrived without having any prior appointment and that seemed to annoy them. The entire place was guarded like a fortress. It was an unpleasant experience for me and I wouldn't have been at ease with my mom living there.

"Fewer Outings, but Good Amenities at Burr Oak"
Burr Oak Manor wasn't quite what we hoped. We thought they'd take trips out more often, but that only happens once a month. They do have activities and events at the place, but my mom doesn't go much since she's younger than most people there. She does like the food and the servings are plenty big. We picked Burr Oak Manor because they had bigger rooms that worked better for her and it's close to where I live and work, so I can come by often. I'd still suggest checking it out.

"A Laid-Back Community!"
If you want a relaxed community, Burr Oak Manor is perfect. The staff adjusts to your schedule, even delivering meals when you’re ready. The food is decent, typical of institutional settings. It’s a small, well-maintained place in an older building. While it lacks fancy features, they offer various indoor activities. If you prefer a laid-back community, this is it.

"Burr Oak Manor: Engaging and Underwhelming"
Our time at Burr Oak Manor didn't meet our expectations. The one in charge did not appear overly friendly and seemed overly focused on financial matters. While there were a handful of great employees, their overall attentiveness and responsiveness could definitely use improvement. The food service was delayed and meals were served cooler than we'd have liked. This place just wasn't suitable for my parents. I wouldn't advise others to join this community as our experience wasn't positive.

"Caring Staff, Limited Activities, Improving Meals at Burr Oak Manor"
I'm in a wheelchair but can do things. Burr Oak Manor is okay. I like it here. There aren't many activities for me. I've started helping with meal planning and recipes. Food's better now. The caregivers cook, but they're rushed. They need kitchen staff. The staff take good care of us and show love.

"Assisted Living: A Homey Atmosphere with Caring Staff"
I really like Burr Oak Manor. The people there are very caring. The closets in the rooms could use some lighting, though. The rooms are small, but since they only sleep in them, it's not a big deal. They're encouraged to spend time outside their rooms, which makes it feel more like home. Overall, it's been a good experience. I'm glad we found this place.

"Needs Improvement: Understaffing and Organization Concerns at Assisted Living Facility"
I've noticed that this assisted living facility doesn't always have enough staff. This makes me worry that the employees are being overworked and that the necessary care might not be given properly. On Mondays and Tuesdays, there's no chef, so the caregivers have to take over cooking. This pulls them away from their other responsibilities. It also seemed really chaotic with things always being rushed and no time for a breather. My family member seems to be content here, but they rarely complain. They often share with me the issues they observe. I'm not completely satisfied. But I can acknowledge that the staff is terrific and always tries their best. They make everyone feel welcome and maintain a cheerful demeanor most of the time.

"One of the better ones."
The staff at Burr Oak Manor are super friendly and patient. Even when dealing with a difficult resident due to dementia, they stay patient. They also joke around with my mom. Since some residents struggle to communicate, they make sure she sits with a gentleman who can chat during meals. We live nearby and check in at different times of the day, and she’s always well cared for. Now, for the not-so-great part: occasionally, there’s a whiff of urine. It’s better than other places we looked at, but it still bothers me. The food is basic and bland, but that’s expected given dietary restrictions. My mom’s main complaint is the food. Luckily, we take her out for Sunday meetings and lunch regularly. On the bright side, Burr Oak Manor organizes activities like movie nights and Bingo. They even took the seniors on a guided cruise last summer. Plus, they’re good about getting residents out of the building. Just remember to pay on time—the late fee is 10%, which adds up to about $500. In summary, we’re content with Burr Oak Manor. The fantastic staff, caring for my mom and being friendly, matters most.

"Parents together in budget-friendly place, substandard food, weak memory care security."
We like that the assisted living facilities accommodated our budget, and has room to let my husband's parents stay together in a comfortable space. The level of care provided is just what they need. It met our standards. However, there were some deceptions about the memory care amenities. They don't have a designated chef; the nurses on duty prepare the meals. The residents eat in one of two common rooms. The kitchen is there but no one uses it for cooking. Around 50 residents live there, and the food quality leaves a lot to be desired, particularly for those with dietary restrictions. My father once managed to slip out of the building which was a big concern. They didn't adequately secure the doors. The room has two doors, one of which opens outside. They claimed they were planning to install an alarm, but they haven't been too keen on adding memory care alarms to the room. We had to block the door with a dresser to keep dad from wandering off. Overall, this is a better situation than before and mostly things have been positive. But there are still some problems to be worked out.

"Perfect Fit with Caring Staff and a Small-Town Feel"
We looked at several places for my 87-year-old mother-in-law, who has dementia and the effects of a stroke. Burr Oak Manor turned out to be just right for us. We really liked their caring approach and how they’re small enough to know each resident personally. It has a cozy, small-town vibe, which is great for our family. We appreciated that Mom could bring her own furniture, making her new room feel more like home. Plus, they’re licensed for end-of-life care, so we won’t need to move her if her condition gets worse. The staff is friendly, caring, and knowledgeable.
