Century Oaks Assisted Living

"Avoid Century Oaks: Poor Care and Staffing Issues"
My sister has been living at Century Oaks for roughly four years now. When she first moved in, the place seemed nice, but it's been getting worse ever since. It's challenging to get a hold of anyone because there's a lack of staff, and the food is horrible too. When my sister needs help and rings her call light, it takes too long for someone to respond. Just recently, I've learned that this facility is closing due to numerous negative reports. I strongly advise against sending a loved one to this place. They won't be properly taken care of.

"Texas Takeover Taints Century Oaks Assisted Living"
Ever since Century Oaks was bought out by a Texas-based company, things have started to fall apart. There's a lot of disagreement among the employees and staff. The CNAs are overloaded with work, and it appears that no one wants to do their jobs properly. Unfortunately, the residents are suffering from it. They're not getting the attention they need. To make matters worse, there are ants invading the rooms and the entire place reeks of urine. It's not clean like it used to be. I highly advise not bringing your loved one here. You'll regret it if you do.

"Poorly Managed Assisted Living: Neglect and Lack of Care"
My mom has been at this place since it opened. But now it's really bad. The staff is not good. Two nights in a row, she got her night medicine at 11:30 pm. She asked someone, and they found them in the trash. She hardly ever gets asked about food. They only clean her room sometimes. Showers aren't scheduled. It may look nice, but that's about it. Recently, it was sold to investors from Texas. So there are no bosses on site. You know what that means. Even though she's in a wheelchair, they tell her she has to help herself because it's assisted living. Think twice and do your homework because you will be disappointed.

"Assisted Living Facility Feels Like a 5-Star Hotel"
It's a really nice place, just like a fancy hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated. We only had to bring clothes, toothpaste, and a toothbrush for our loved one; everything else was already there—TV, furniture, everything. She's pretty happy with the food overall. It's a really good place, and it costs about the same as others in the area.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
I believe it’s okay for assisted living, but if you require extra care, I wouldn’t suggest it. If you have someone to speak up for you, it’s a wonderful and lovely place. However, without an advocate, things don’t happen as they should.

""Understaffed Facility Maltreats Residents; Owner Reacts Poorly to Complaints""
My mother lived here. The staff valiantly tries but is clearly stretched too thin. Despite no official caregiver-to-resident ratio rules, it's clear they're understaffed. My sister and I visited daily and saw many unsettling infractions. We reported to the state that during a fire drill, only 6 staff members were present for 57 residents, most needing escort assistance or dealing with dementia. Another validated report told of a resident left outdoors for over three hours in 80-degree weather. If you stay quiet, pay up promptly, and don't challenge anything, the co-owner [name removed] is friendly. If not, she can be combative, often agreeing to your face then changing her tune or heatedly arguing, practically asking you to leave. This co-owner should not interact directly with residents and their relatives. It appears a sizable number of the positive reviews online are from the owners' family or their employees.

"Dismally Unfit Assisted Living Facility Lacks Care & Communication"
Regrettably, this facility is unmistakably unsuitable for individuals living with dementia. Despite their assertions to the contrary, they often lack appropriate staffing and most of the staff do not make an effort to introduce themselves. The majority of staff members wear attire that is far from professional. Communication is virtually non-existent! Queries regarding incidents involving residents are very often met with unsatisfying responses like "I wasn't working that shift" or "I don't know what happened", even when residents have unexplained injuries. There is a disturbing absence of licensed staff present 24 hours a day, with only Certified Nursing Assistant medication technicians on call. This center provides scant activities for dementia patients. The occasional visit from a musician perhaps, but for the most part, it's a repetitious cycle of bingo followed by a possible night movie. Resident rooms are not cleaned regularly. Communication, lamentably, is almost absent. Making contact via telephone is nearly impossible. Call attempts throughout the day might eventually get answered, but evening attempts are futile. Unfortunately, this facility greatly disappoints.
