"Avoid This Assisted Living Facility at All Costs"

I wouldn't recommend this place for your family members!

"Caring Staff and Happy Residents"

The staff genuinely cares about residents. They listen to feedback and make improvements. My dad is happy here! His 2-bedroom place is spacious, and he loves the cleaning service and activities.

"Needs Improvement"

The staff is generally nice, and my mother received okay care. However, I think there could be more activities for the residents. I'm not sure how hard the workers try to keep them busy. The living area in memory care definitely needs updating—it's very outdated and small, making it uncomfortable. They hold all their activities in this room, and there isn't always enough space. Considering the cost, I believe there should be much more offered.

"Long-Term Staff and Great Amenities!"

Many of the staff have worked here for a long time. The rooms are spacious, and the amenities available for residents are really nice!

"Assisted Living Facility Needs More Staff for Better Service"

This place has friendly staff, especially Samantha, the head nurse. But they could use more help overall. I don't think there are many top-notch places like this out there.

"Dad Adjusts Well, Happy with Move to Harbour Village"

My dad moved into Harbour Village about a month ago, and he’s adjusting well. He’s joined some of the group activities and is meeting other residents. At first, he didn’t want to move, but now he thinks it was a good choice and is happy we encouraged him to make the move.

"Poor Care, Neglect, and Disregard: Avoid Harbour Village Assisted Living"

This place was really bad. I took my family member out after only a month and a half. The staff hardly ever checked on them and didn't give them their medicine when they were supposed to. My family member got sick, and the staff didn't do anything until I called their hospice nurse. She took my family member to the hospital where they got better. I'm writing a formal complaint to send to the state and some other places. I wouldn't tell anyone to go to Harbour Village.

"Rent hikes and food complaints frustrate residents despite overall happiness"

Overall, my parents like living here, but they have issues. They've been here less than a year, and the rent has gone up twice. I'm really upset about these increases and how much we're paying now compared to when they first moved in. They often complain about the food and the rent hikes. I hope they don’t raise the rent again soon, or my parents might not want to stay. It's definitely frustrating.

"Reliable and Caring Community for Peace of Mind"

Whenever we had concerns or questions, they were handled quickly and professionally. They always take the time to listen to us, and if we can’t reach someone, they call back promptly. We would recommend this community to others and have already done so. They were there when we needed them, giving us peace of mind and helping us sleep better at night.

Mom felt this community was a better fit—smaller and less overwhelming. She spoke with many residents who were very friendly and welcoming. [Name] was very helpful and informative.

"Harbour Village: Sad Changes Under New Leadership"

My review would have been more positive two years ago. Since the new boss, [name removed], took over, I've noticed the care for the seniors in assisted living and memory care has gotten worse. She doesn't show any signs of caring or listening. They've even stopped providing water in the common area and don't offer any between meals. They're also not helping with laundry or showers, basic stuff really. Even worse, the nursing staff still don't know residents' names after two months. The caregivers are bummed out and unsupported, they're really upset with the leadership. There are lots of better choices around. Don't let your older family members live at Harbour Village. Under [name removed]'s leadership, this place could fix its problems. It upsets me that my parent lived here.

"Friendly staff, happy residents, and great dinner at Harbour Village"

"From Happy Senior Living to Neglected Hellhole"

My mom was content in senior living, until her health declined. She relied on their assisted living program to accommodate her needs – something they promised, but failed to deliver. They don't have any certified nursing assistants on deck, and the staff always changes. We're paying a whopping $7,400 every month, but they can't even change her. No proper bathing service either -- just sponge baths – causing me to clean her hair when they said they can't. She keeps getting UTIs due to infrequent changings, and bed sores from being neglected all day. She was rushed to the ER for a physiologically deteriorating shoulder issue. They even let her get septic! Now that all her savings have been drained, they seem less inclined to care for her. Please transfer your loved ones to a better place. Her experiences leave me in tears daily.

"Appalling Care and Service at Assisted living Facility"

From the top, my encounter with this facility was significantly negative. It seems the core issue was my relative requiring more help than the staff was willing to provide. Her stay was brief, with her actual presence lasting only 7-9 days out of 24. We informed them of her Alzheimer's disease, and during visits, she would mention rough handling. Although my relative and I had different interpretations of "rough", I didn't pay much heed to it. However, amidst her stay, she had a fall, which required hospital attention. After her incident, I discovered an unexplained bruise surrounding her pinky finger. When questioned, she attributed it to a rough nurse. On top of that, the staff's responsiveness was pitiful. Although my relative had an emergency button, response times ranged from an appalling 15 minutes to nearly an hour. Less than impressive housekeeping added to my dismay. Upon a visit, my CNA daughter found my aunt's bed without sheets, which the staff blamed on a shortage. My daughter resolved this by buying some, only for us to later find clean ones conveniently tucked away in a dresser. After her initial fall, my relative's mental state seemed to worsen. Despite my increased visits, I received a distressing call about her being discovered beside her bed, face-down. TERRIFIED of a stroke, she was rushed to a hospital. At some point, she vomited and blacked out, leading to severe brain bleeding. A fatal fall resulted in a coma she never recovered from. After the horrifying incident, my return to the facility was greeted by the sight of her vomit and blood, uncleaned for days. Even after repeated complaints, the mess remained. Blanket denial and negligence seemed to be the staff's response, with no one accepting responsibility. Added to their demeaning housekeeping and care, the facility also failed in their laundry duties. Clothing that had to be laundered vanished, and all we recovered were her comforter and laundry basket. Their utter disregard and inaction left me speechless, and deeply unsatisfied.

"A little too big for her needs, but nice overall."

I visited Harbour Village with my mom while looking for a new place for her, but it was too large. Everything was spread out too far, and she can't walk that far. The food looked great, with lots of choices, and the facility was nice. However, it was too spacious and a bit expensive for us. They had many activities, but I didn't get to check them out. It wasn't the right fit for my mom, but I'd suggest it to others.

"Friendly and Clean Assisted Living Community"

Harbour Village was really nice and tidy. The people who worked there were friendly and ready to help. We weren't sure if it was the right place for us and if it was near enough for our family and her Power of Health.

"16 Happy Years!"

I've been here since 2001 - that's 16 happy years! There are so many great people (residents and staff) to enjoy being around. We have lots of fun activities like bingo, card games, trips, book club, hiking, crafts, movies, and discussion groups. Harbour Village is a pleasant and friendly place to live.

"Great Food and Care!"

My initial concerns about moving my father into this community have been eased. Everything has gone well for him so far. While there have been a few minor issues, they've all been handled. My dad loves the food and enjoys dining with the other residents. I also appreciate how clean and well-kept the facility is.

"Good Care and Kindness at Assisted Living Facility"

This place is pretty nice, and my mother in law is doing great since she came here. I think they're really taking good care of her in a quality building. Everyone's been so nice and went out of their way to help. Overall, everything's good and I'd say other people should give this place a try.

"Mom is Adjusting Well"

When I visited my mom, she said everyone was treating her well and she likes the other residents. She's still getting used to the community, but it seems to be going okay so far. I have no complaints. Everyone is very caring, and the staff are upfront when we ask questions. I would recommend this place and have already told someone about it.

"Older Building, Inconvenient Location"

The Harbour Village was a pretty nice community. The building was older, but the apartments were quite far from the main areas. Also, the location wasn't very convenient for me. It wasn't what we were looking for.

"Exceptional Care and Friendly Staff Make This Community Shine!"

I can't say enough good things about this community. The staff is amazing—friendly and always willing to help. If there's ever an issue, they contact the doctor right away instead of waiting for me. My loved one gets all her therapy right in her apartment, and the room is just right for her with enough space for all her stuff. When I worried she wasn’t socializing enough, they set her up with seats at the lunch table, and now she has two new friends. If she has trouble reading the menu, the staff goes to her room before dinner, reads the menu to her, and helps her pick her meal. The menu has three options, and they show samples of the dishes as they enter the dining room so residents can see and choose what they want.

"Exceeds Expectations with Great Staff and Fun Activities!"

I can’t say enough good things about this place. From the moment I toured with the owner, who was amazing and super helpful, to when I moved my loved one in, the staff has been fantastic. They have Packers games and go on fun outings. This place is even better than I hoped for, and I really appreciate that. They do so much for their residents. The meals are healthy and have great portions. We absolutely love this community. They also

"Harbour Village: Peace of mind for your loved one"

I have to say, I've only ever had my mom at Harbour Village in Greendale, WI. And I wouldn't put her anywhere else. She's been there since 2010, starting in Independent Living and now in Memory Care. We also live in Greendale, so it was an easy choice for us. The staff, many of whom have been there for years, are caring and thoughtful. The suites are small, but mom has an amazing view of two gardens. Mom is 94 and still going strong! I visit several times a week and sometimes eat with her, so if anything was wrong, I'd know! If you want peace of mind for your loved one, Harbour Village is the place!

"Mom liked the staff and appreciated the on-site therapy."

Mom liked the staff at Harbour Village. The cost seems to be similar to other places. She was happy with the care she received. Although she had physical issues and could use more mental stimulation, like arts and crafts, she was happy overall, which is the main goal. We chose this place partly because it has physical therapy on-site.

"High Prices for Average Assisted Living Quality"

They were not fully prepped for a new resident. There were broken things, areas that needed painting, etc. They managed to fix things fairly well, but I'd give that a low score of 2. In general, they are just okay. But since they charge a lot, I don't think it's worth it.

"Terrific staff, great care, and mom is busier than ever."

We are thrilled with our experience. My mother has lived at Harbour Village for two years and has needed different levels of care. She started in independent living, moved to assisted living light, and now she’s going to full care assisted living. We love the caring, responsive staff. The food is good, and the activities are fun and fit for her age. My mom says she’s busier than ever. We got a two-bedroom to make the change easier, and it’s spacious. The only downside is that the air conditioning is just in the living room, but my mom likes it warm anyway. Bottom line – the staff is amazing. I would highly recommend Harbour Village!

"Outstanding staff and great experience, highly recommended"

The experience has been amazing, and the staff has been great. She really enjoys the food, and everything has been fantastic. Many people recommended this place, and when I saw the room, I was impressed by how bright and cheerful it was. The prices were similar to other places nearby, and they were fair with the care costs. I would give them a 6 out of 5 if I could. It’s been an incredibly good experience, and she’s very happy here, which gives me peace of mind.

"Creepy Director Makes Harbour Village a No-Go"

Keeping it simple, when I went to check out this place for my mom, the community didn't seem so bad. But, I had major issues with the one in charge – the Director. His behavior was totally not okay, and the way he was looking around was just too weird. It didn't take long to know that Harbour Village is not gonna work for my mom.

"Just Average, Not Top-Tier Facility"

The living unit wasn't truly prepared as stated. Some issues include an old counter-top, a damaged drawer slide, and although there was new carpet, the solid floors were dirty. Additionally, the entryway lacks paint, the bathroom faucet doesn't work, and the bolts on the toilet weren't cut short. These things and more were a letdown.

4/5.00 Published 9 years ago

"They Care, but Could Be More Connected"

They could improve their connection with families. We're no longer with them; we moved my dad out. Getting to the room was really tough—sometimes we had to wait 20 minutes, which didn't feel good. It's a locked unit, but their response time could be better. Still, they seem to genuinely care about the residents, so I'll give them credit.

"Friendly and Caring People Make It Special"

"Harbour Village is fantastic with great activities and staff!"

My mom feels 10 years younger after 6 months at Harbour Village! She stays active every day with walking, exercising, and socializing. She enjoys activities like bingo, movies, Packer games, and other events. The food is great, and the staff is fantastic. We also use the physical and occupational therapy services and the podiatrist on site.

"Perfect place, caring staff, great choice for Mom!"

My significant other and I toured Harbour Village with Jenny, who was full of energy and very passionate about showing us how great it is. We checked out eight other places and even called one but didn’t bother visiting. In the end, we narrowed it down to two. On the same day, we had an appointment with Nancy, and since we’d already toured, I expected a quick look around. But Nancy took her time, explained everything like Jenny, and didn't rush us. Both of them were genuine and answered our questions without acting like salespeople. After visiting the other seven, I really felt like Harbour Village was the best fit for Mom. When I was moving a large TV stand in, a worker from the food department offered to help, which left a great impression. The staff went out of their way—two nurses even helped move Mom's things into her room. One of the caregivers knocked on the door to introduce herself and wanted to know about Mom’s daily routine, her favorite activities, and foods she liked. She was excited to meet her. It’s nice to feel that Mom will be in good hands with plenty to do. The food looks good, and the staff is super friendly. You can tell they care about their jobs, unlike other places where people just go through the motions. The staff really takes pride in their work and works well together. We made the right choice.

"Dad Thrives at Harbour Village with Activities and Great Staff"

My dad has adjusted well at Harbour Village. He was never very social, but now he’s doing both inside and outside activities, even kickball. They gave him the chance to do extra activities, which makes me very happy. The staff is amazing. My dad thinks the world of them. They are cheerful and very attentive to him and how he’s feeling. I’m satisfied overall.

"A Terrible Tour of This Assisted Living Facility"

My visit to this place was a terrible experience. It's a pretty building, but right from when I set foot inside, I wasn't happy. The lady running the front desk couldn't be bothered to leave her seat. She ignored what I was saying and assumed I was there to see one of the residents. She led me to a room full of folks who were practically falling asleep. The guide that was supposed to show me around was in the wrong building, so I'm sure she didn't pay attention when I said I wanted to check out the memory care section.

"Great Place for Parents to Stay Together"

My siblings and I picked Harbour Village in Greendale because it lets our parents stay in the same apartment. Mom can live independently, and dad gets the help he needs since he has dementia. After 52 years in their own home, we wanted a place where they would still feel comfortable and cared for.

They offer bingo, Wii games, sing-alongs, and buses for church, grocery shopping, and Walgreens. There are many activities available. During our tour, everyone was wonderful.
