"Supportive staff, but more veggies needed in meals"
The staff at this facility are friendly and helpful to both my loved one and our family. My expectations for memory care have adjusted since my loved one has been here, and I have a more realistic view now. Some residents do try to talk with my loved one when they can. It would be great if there were more vegetables in the meals.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short of Expectations"
Don't come here. We've had many bad experiences. Once when I visited my loved one, they were given long spaghetti without it being cut, served with a spoon. Another time, their leaking toilet took weeks to fix, posing health risks. They were neglectful with laundry, only taking the basket, not linens. Staff were often on their phones. Medication was missing, yet the director showed little concern. When we complained, she only sent a brief email.

"Great food and friendly staff, but mom didn’t join activities"
My mom really enjoyed the food and found the staff friendly and welcoming. Since she’s a bit anxious and introverted, she didn’t join in on the activities offered.

"Lovely Facility with Great Staff, Activities, and Spacious Apartments"
The facility is really nice, the staff is friendly, and the meal plan is excellent. There are lots of activities, like bingo, musicians who come by now and then, guest speakers, movie nights a few times a week, and more. There’s also a bistro bar on the second floor, an outdoor deck, a kitchenette for baking cookies or hosting family gatherings, and a library with a dining table if you want to bring in food. The caregivers are very sweet and kind. The building itself is pretty, with a lot of wood and stone, giving it a nice look. Pets are allowed for an extra fee, including dogs, as long as you can care for them. Not many residents have pets that I've seen. They offer physician services if you want to use them for prescriptions and other needs. There’s also a memory care unit, which is helpful if your loved one needs that kind of care later on. My loved one’s apartment has a kitchenette with a big fridge, cabinets, a sink, and space for a microwave, but no stove or oven. The living room is spacious with a nice view of the courtyard. The bedroom is separate with a large closet and another window overlooking the courtyard. The bathroom is roomy with a walk-in shower and grab bars. There’s also a big closet in the hallway for storage and outerwear, plus a good-sized cabinet in the bathroom. It’s just the right amount of space for her. Some other places we visited had bigger outdoor areas for gardening, but Heritage doesn’t have that. Still, I’m happy with it. My mom is picky, but she likes it and says they treat her well. I’d recommend Heritage Elm Grove to others.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The place looks beautiful, like home for our loved one. But, they often run out of supplies, and care varies. Some caregivers are great, but others not so much. Promised things didn't work out well. The physical therapist is amazing and helped a lot. A bus transportation system would be helpful.

"Liked it, but aunt wasn't accepted"
I really liked Brookdale Sussex when I toured it, but they turned down my aunt because of her needs. We picked another place, but this one is great for someone looking.

"Highly Welcoming Assisted Living Community"
We visited this community, and it felt elegant and welcoming. The tour went well, and the staff was super friendly. However, the price was higher than we expected, so it didn't quite fit our needs.

"HERITAGE-Elm Grove Review"
I've had a parent at HERITAGE-Elm Grove for a year and a half. The first two months were great, but things have gone downhill since. Apartment cleaning and laundry are supposed to happen weekly, but it's only done every 2-3 weeks. Most of the food is left uneaten on residents' plates, and only a few meals each week are tasty. Despite hiring a new chef, the food hasn't improved. Portions have gotten much smaller. Activities and outings have decreased. The new Director made promises but hasn't delivered any improvements. They change Directors and employees frequently for a place that's only been open a few years. The building looks nice, but they might need to pay their workers more so they stay.

"Great place with good food, but we want better updates"
Our loved one seems to be settling in well at Heritage Elm Grove. We don’t have any complaints, but we would like better communication. It would be helpful to get regular updates about how she’s doing when we’re not there. Whether it’s through online access or a monthly update from staff who know her well, it would help us feel more at ease. The meals look really good, and she seems to enjoy the food. They use lovely white tablecloths and make dining pleasant. The facility is very clean, and she has a nice, large room that we decorated to feel homey and comfortable. When we visit, she’s usually out of her room, chatting with other residents or listening to music. We’re not sure how much she participates in activities or what she does the rest of the time. She did mention one trip she went on. There’s a nice enclosed patio where she can enjoy the fresh air. It’s great that she can stay in Elmgrove and still call Heritage Elm Grove home. We would recommend this community to others.

"Good community with room for food improvement and slow responses"
When Mom first got here, she liked the food. Lately, it seems to have gotten a bit worse. They have lots of activities for everyone to enjoy. The staff are friendly and helpful, but sometimes they take a little while to answer questions. They keep me updated on how Mom is doing. The place is very clean, and there are nice courtyards and balconies. The physical therapists are doing well. Overall, I would recommend this place.

"Assisted Living Tour Experience: Clean, Busy, Not Ideal Fit"
I toured this place for my mom, and it went well. The staff were punctual, and the place was tidy. It was busy, though, with not much space available. It didn't suit us then, but I'd still suggest it.

"Great care for mom, but food and activities need improvement"
For mom, the experience is going really well. The staff has improved her life more than we thought possible, and we’re very happy with the progress she’s made. The personal care for residents in memory care is excellent. For my dad in assisted living, things are okay, but there aren't any programs or activities for seniors. The food is not good because it’s served lukewarm, as it has to be temperature controlled. I also feel like both sides are understaffed. What we were promised isn’t always being done or done fully.

My mom was there
"Mixed Experience: Assisted Living Good, Memory Care Needs Improvement"
My mom stayed in both assisted living and memory care. Assisted living was really good, but memory care wasn't so great. There always seemed to be different people working there, and they didn't keep a close eye on them or have enough things for the memory care folks to do. The leaders weren't doing a good job, but there's a new director who seems to be making things better. Even though the building looks nice, they still have a ways to go. Some of the caregivers are really amazing and do their best, they just need to figure out how to hire and keep them!

"Friendly staff, but security and housekeeping need improvement."
The staff are friendly, but there might be housekeeping issues. I’m unsure about community security because people should sign in and out, but sometimes no one is at the desk to check. They don’t always stop people when they enter. My mom likes the food, and the community looks nice. They offer lots of activities and entertainment.
