"Exterior Charm, Interior Disappointment"

They've heard our concerns. The place seems nice from the outside, but don't be fooled, the staff isn't as welcoming as the exterior suggests. We chose it because my grandmother's long-term care insurance definitely covered it.

"Good staff and food, needs more activities"

My loved one stayed here for 2 weeks for a break. We picked this place because it was close and familiar. The staff was nice, and the food was good, but they need more activities.

"Smooth transition but inconsistent cleanliness due to staff turnover"

My mom's move to Memory Care was smooth. She likes the food and eats well. However, there are frequent staffing changes, which affects cleanliness.

"Adequate Facility with Minimal Assistance"

The place looks good, with nice private rooms and a bunch of fun things to do. They really focus on letting residents do their own thing, which means there’s not much help around, and they don’t have enough staff. There’s also a lot of new faces all the time. It’s okay if you’re looking for a place that doesn’t give much help.

"Poor Care and Conditions: Disappointing Assisted Living Experience"

My dad's room was really dirty when we moved in. We cleaned it for 8 hours, but it was never cleaned again. There were ants and flies everywhere. I had to put his clothes in the hallway to get them washed. He didn't get a bath until Hospice came. The prices kept going up every 2 months. A nurse tried to make me move my dad to memory care, saying he needed more expensive care. But he wasn't getting any care! He didn't want to wear the call button because no one ever answered it. He figured out it didn't work, but they still wanted him to move? The food was okay, but there was hardly ever butter, salt, pepper, sugar, cream, or condiments. There weren't enough silverware or coffee cups either. The office staff were always busy on their computers and never talked about my dad's care. The good caregivers were always busy, and the lazy ones were always on Facebook or texting. I visited my dad every day because I knew he wasn't being cared for.

"Decent Place, Needs More Activities and Meals"

Heritage Monona was an okay place for Mom to stay. Nothing fancy or special. I wish they had more activities for the independent residents. Also, the website said there would be a daily meal, but it was never provided. I know this was during the end of COVID times, but...

"Nice, clean, and friendly Assisted Living facility"

We visited Heritage Monona while looking for Assisted Living options for our loved one. The place looked really nice. It was clean and modern, and the staff was friendly and supportive.

"Struggling Assisted Living Seeks Stability"

Our experience with Heritage Assisted Living has been disappointing. What was promised during our search doesn't match the reality. Despite the challenges, we've decided to work with them to improve, rather than seeking alternatives. The lack of consistent leadership is a major concern, but if that improves, progress may follow.

"Clean place, but apartment needs more attention; activities lacking."

The place is clean, but their apartment gets about 2 stars. They follow care orders, but sometimes miss things like charging my mom's hearing aids or changing the bed linens. We wish there were more activities!

"Room Feels Too Much Like a Hotel"

I visited this place, and the staff was friendly. But I didn't like the heating and cooling system in the walls. It made the room seem too much like a hotel room.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"

Our family member believes the meals are mostly tasty, but occasionally they arrive late and cold due to slow dining service. We find the cost too high, especially considering the current understaffing situation.

The Heritage Monona community took excellent care of our loved one while she was there.

"Good facility but too expensive and not very homey"

Heritage Monona looked like a good place, and it was our second choice. We didn’t pick them mainly because it was too expensive and didn’t feel as cozy as we wanted.

"Recommend for Meals and Snacks"

The facility is now run by new management who are doing their best. I would suggest this place to others. They offer three meals a day and snacks, with a lot of choices for breakfast. Dinner is a bit simpler.

"Nice facility with helpful tour, but some confusion occurred"

Heritage is a really nice place. It was helpful on the tour. There was some confusion because I wanted to see both assisted and independent living areas. [Name removed] showed us the assisted living part and a bit of the independent living, but we couldn’t see an apartment.

"Dad’s Happy and Well-Cared For in This Assisted Living"

I’m really glad my dad is here; they’re taking great care of him. The staff are kind, helpful, and quick to respond. They always make sure he’s clean and dressed in fresh clothes. If there’s an accident, they clean him up right away. The food is good, but he finds it a bit bland since he’s on a low sodium diet. He has a nice, spacious room with its own bathroom. Housekeeping takes care of his cleaning, laundry, and puts his clothes away. There’s a sidewalk out front where residents can sit in chairs and enjoy the sunshine. I would definitely recommend this place.

"Efficient and Friendly Assisted Living, Ideal for Families"

I visited this place when searching for a home for my Aunt. We didn't choose it because they only had small apartments above the entrance. But the person in charge of marketing was really helpful and told us everything we needed to know. The staff there was nice and the place itself was good too. I think other families might like it.

"Neglected Visit Questions Facility's Capabilities"

I was supposed to check out this place for my family member. When I got there, nobody seemed ready for my visit. I talked to the front desk ladies and they asked me to wait. Then, I was left waiting for over 15 minutes and nobody talked to me. I felt like they were ignoring me and didn't think my time mattered. I also didn't get the feeling that the staff was really capable. If they couldn't treat me right, how could they take care of my family member?

"No Complaints So Far"

My dad lives here now, and things seem pretty good. The staff is friendly, and he likes the food. They clean his apartment, and there are activities like exercise classes and games. The price includes everything. The only suggestion I have is better tracking for care requests. Overall, I'd recommend it.

"Decent Place For Loved Ones' Care"

I started living in this place. The workers are kind and they pay attention to us. The food they serve could be better. The place is neat, but could be a bit better. They have fun things for us to do. We suggest that families should check out this place if they need to find care for a loved one.

"Nice Visit, But Rooms Are Small"

I visited this place to see if it’s good for my mom and dad. The tour was pretty good and showed me everything. The rooms were a bit small, but everything else was nice. The whole place was clean and looked after well. I think other families should check it out for their loved ones too.

"Outstanding Care and Kindness for a Friend"

I really liked the care my good friend got here. She liked the staff, and we couldn’t have gotten better care anywhere else. The community is very clean and nice. The food was really good. They had activities, and she enjoyed the live music. The care and love shown here are outstanding. Their kindness was so meaningful, and it was great to see her so well taken care of.

"Excellent On-Site Care with Many Specialist Visits"

The facility has great on-site care, like a mini-skilled nursing facility. They have visits from a nurse, a podiatrist, a dentist, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, and a speech therapist.

"Assisted Living Review: Communication Needs Improvement, But Overall Good"

This place is pretty nice overall. The main issue is trying to call a nurse or caregiver— it's tough to reach someone. They should improve their phone service. But, my mom is happy, which matters most.

"High Praise for Heritage Monona in Monona, WI"

This place is super nice! It's so pretty, and the people who work here are really friendly. Everything is always clean, and it feels cozy and bright. But, it's a bit expensive if you don't have a lot of money.

"Mixed Feelings: Pleasant Place, But Poor Handling"

I enjoyed the place; it was pleasant. However, they didn't handle her properly. They could have approached things differently. It seems like they kept increasing her medications. I believe it would be more suitable for someone who is calmer.

"Mixed Experience at Heritage Assisted Living in Monona"

Overall, I had a good time at Heritage in Monona. It's reassuring having Mom there rather than alone. The food and things to do are great! However, I think they could do better with wellness checks, and they should happen more often. Some of the people who work there are very friendly, but others not so much. Mom's place is in the back, so she hears a lot of noise when staff come and go or take out the trash.

"Poor Food Quality"

The food isn't great and could be better.

"Nice Facility with Hotel-Feel and Early Dinner Preparations"

The place is nice looking with a kind staff. Everything's still fresh and flashy. It gave off more hotel vibes than feeling like a home. I went during downtime so couldn't really check out the activities or try the food. They were already preparing for dinner instead of people lazily enjoying a second cup of coffee.

"Highly Recommend Heritage for compassionate, high-quality care!"

Heritage is a truly wonderful facility. We have one member in memory care and another moving into assisted living. The first move was urgent, and after touring many places (except one), Heritage's staff stood out for their compassion and care. They have nurses in each unit, offering personalized attention. A month later, we're moving the spouse to assisted living, and the same caring staff is assisting us. The facility's layout is great, with a secure courtyard in the memory unit and convenient design for different units. Though not the cheapest, it offers beauty and comfort. If you need long-term care, Heritage Senior Living in Monona is highly recommended. They made the transition smoother than expected.

"Heritage is a great place for your parent"

We moved our mom into Heritage just yesterday, and she seems to be settling in really well. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the place is clean and nicely organized. Residents can control the temperature in their apartments, and my mom’s apartment has new carpet and is pretty spacious. The facility is fairly new, so it has cool features like granite countertops in the bathroom.

"Great place with friendly staff; clean and well-managed care."

This place is great. They do a good job. My mother is in memory care here. It's clean, and the staff is friendly. I’d choose them for my dad too, but unfortunately, they can't be together.

"Great caregivers meeting needs without extra effort needed."

The caregivers are very caring and sensitive to residents' needs. They work well with my mom on her incontinence. I'm really happy we made the change because her needs are being met without me having to ask.

Helpful staff and good resources. Good communication with the nurse, but they need to be more proactive. No monthly report on my family member's status.

"Great care and friendly staff bring peace of mind here"

We’ve been here for just over a month now, and we’re really impressed. We were worried about a difficult transition because of a previous experience at another facility two years ago. But the nurse suggested giving him some time to adjust before our visits and encouraged him to ask the staff for help when needed. When we visited, we saw that he seemed much more relaxed and peaceful compared to his time at home or the other place. The care is excellent, with staff always around to check in. They manage the number of residents well, and they know what each resident likes and dislikes. They understand that everyone reacts differently and handle each person’s needs individually. Even though there are times when caregivers are busy, we’ve never had anything serious to worry about. The place always looks nice, and the staff and management are friendly. There are lots of planned activities and community events, and people seem happier here compared to other places we visited. The dining room is bright, and the menu looks good. Overall, we feel we made a great choice, and we now have peace of mind.

"Wonderful care staff and clean facility!"

They took amazing care of my loved one! The facility was always clean and nice. The care and activities were good, but the care staff were truly wonderful. My loved one could be a bit difficult, but they were so patient and compassionate. They were kind to her every single day. I stayed with her the last few days, and their care blew me away. I can't say enough good things about them! I highly recommend this place.

"Great place with friendly staff and convenient location"

This is a really nice place. It’s a newer facility and looks great, plus it’s always clean. The staff are all very friendly and easy to work with. They offer a lot of activities, though I'm not sure how involved my loved one is right now. The location is also really convenient, so visiting will be easier.

"Consistent Staff"

I really like the nurse who works there, and the staff is great. The place is cleaner, and they respond quickly. There's much less staff turnover, and they've been consistently good during the three months we've been here. It's a cheerful and bright atmosphere.

"Heritage Monona Review: Friendly Staff and Great Facilities"

We moved my dad here about 2 weeks ago. The staff was awesome in helping us get everything set up, answering questions, and doing a lot of the work to move my dad quickly. They are friendly and take time to know the residents and talk to them. The place looks pretty new and is in great shape.

"Great new facility with good staff and improving activities"

We’re really happy with the place. It’s hard to judge value because assisted living costs can be tricky and vary a lot. We don’t have all the details on different levels of care, but we found that the cost and services varied. The activities are tough to judge right now because they’re still setting things up. There are a lot of empty rooms, but as more people move in, they’re adding more activities, so it should get better. We checked out other places, but they didn’t meet our needs as well as Heritage did. It’s a new, clean facility with great staff and has a much less institutional feel.

"A Comprehensive Comparison and Evaluation"

Our family member has lived at Heritage for 3 months. They moved from Oakwood Covenant Memory unit due to falls. Heritage has 40 residents in a square setup with a common dining room, unlike Oakwood's smaller family units. Oakwood mostly has RAs, while Heritage requires all staff to be CNAs. Oakwood has experienced staff, but Heritage offers more social opportunities. Heritage lacks outdoor space and locks most doors. Despite inconveniences, it's excellent for memory care, with patient-oriented staff.

"Needs more engaging activities"

This place seems okay. My dad has Alzheimer's and lives there. I chose it because some residents were still walking and talking. I haven't seen any activities yet. They just sit and watch TV, but the screen is small and the volume is low, so I don't know how elderly people enjoy that. More engaging activities would be better for my dad. The food looks pretty good, but I haven't tasted it. The initial appearance is really good. It's very clean and new. They do a great job of marketing, but in the end, it's no different from other places. They all seem to get by without doing much for the residents. My dad was disappointed with the small rooms because of the cost.

"Great Location and Friendly Staff at Heritage Monoma"

We picked this place because it’s convenient for our family. When we visited, we were really happy. The staff is very friendly and seems to know everyone. It feels more like an apartment community than a big institution. There’s no bad smell, like some elderly care centers have. They offer lots of activities and different options to keep people busy if they want to join in. We’re very happy with Heritage Monoma.

"Liked it but no open spots right away"

We checked out Heritage Manola while looking for communities, and we were really pleased with what they offer. The only issue was that they didn’t have any open spots right away. Since we needed to move in quickly, we had to pick another place, but Heritage Manola would have been a great choice too. They have areas for independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. Their apartments come with a full kitchen, so residents can cook if they want. If they prefer, they can also order from the restaurant-style kitchen.

"Adequate Care but Lacks Transparency and On-site Medical Offering"

The nursing staff at this assisted living facility is trained in Alzheimer's care and a registered nurse is available during business hours but on call at weekends and unable to provide any on-site medical care. When I asked about their courtyard, which has 25 spaces, I was not given much information about its current state - only future plans. Apparently, management will be changing over the summer and they intend to add more features but they were uncertain when this will happen. The nurses are required to maintain a patient ratio of 1 nurse per 6 to 8 patients and can contact a nearby clinic or doctor by phone. The chairs and beds have pressure alarms that let staff know if a resident gets up and they also perform eye-to-eye checks every two hours which they seemed especially proud of. They have a variety of activities available and their monthly rates range from $4,300 to $4,700. Depending on the level of care your loved one needs, the cost can increase by an additional $2,000 per level, for up to 100 hours.

"Tour with Betty: Assisted Living Facility Overview"

She showed us around the assisted living place. It's got different sections for different kinds of care: 28 apartments for enhanced assisted living, 40 for memory care, 38 for another type of memory care, and 37 for regular assisted living. Plus, there are 88 apartments for independent seniors. The available room we saw was pretty spacious, about 600 square feet, with its own balcony overlooking Owen Drive, the post office, and a nearby restaurant. Each room has its own air conditioning and thermostat. The furniture in the rooms matches the place's theme, which is inspired by he Wright. All the doors are made of hardwood, and there's plenty of closet and cupboard space. The nicest room we saw had a base price of $5150, with an additional $1200 if you want extra amenities for dad. But if you opt for a smaller room, the price drops by $450. The rooms are well-equipped, with a kitchen area including a full-size refrigerator, sink, and microwave. There's also a good-sized living room, a separate bedroom with a closet, and a separate bathroom with a shower and closet. Everything is brand new and very clean. The dining room feels like a fancy restaurant, with tablecloths, cloth napkins, silverware, and glasses. The menu looked impressive, with different options each week like tilapia or pollack. There are plenty of amenities, including a whirlpool, a spa, and a library. All mail is delivered downstairs, where each resident gets their own mailbox. The hallways feel like a motel, but with railings on both sides. There are nice sitting areas scattered around, and downstairs there's a big foyer with a fireplace and a small patio where they do cookouts. All the staff are certified nursing assistants or higher, and there's a registered nurse on site Monday through Friday from 7 to 9, with on-call availability at other times. There's also a licensed practical nurse on staff. The staff-to-resident ratio is around 1:6-8 for CNAs or higher, not counting other staff like housekeeping and kitchen staff. At night, the ratio goes down due to less demand, but there are bed checks every two hours. They take care of medication administration, laundry, housekeeping, and offer a weekly shower or whirlpool, plus three meals a day and snacks. They have fall monitoring equipment for an additional $25 per month, and there's a security deposit of $5150 refunded minus a cleaning fee when you leave. Transportation services are available for $50 per visit. They have a call monitoring system to track response times, and she said the wait time is usually around 2 minutes. Physical therapy services are provided by Lessila Physical Therapy LLC, and all services are contracted through them and are charged separately.

"Toured Facility: Overall Good, But Concerns Over Smoking & Incidents"

I checked out this place, and it's pretty nice; I even know people who've got family members staying here. But, there's this lady who had to take her mom away from here because something happened. I tried asking one of the staff about this, but I felt like they weren't entirely truthful with me. They were more worried about getting my name than discussing what happened. It made me really wish I could've heard directly from the person involved. The same goes for the topic of smoking. When I brought up my worries about smoking, the staff person I was speaking to didn't tell me they actually smoke. They led me to think they were on the same page with me. According to the folks who had to move their mom, you can usually find the staff hanging out in the smoking area.
