"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Care and Empathy"
I'm okay with the staff, but isn't. Neither of us thinks the care is good. They rarely answer the call light, and her room is always messy (even though she doesn't make the mess). The meals aren't great, but she's 97 and not very hungry. I can't rate the activities because she's not interested. Overall, the place lacks empathy and seems more focused on money.

" Neglectful Care and Poor Communication at Assisted Living Facility "
My mom wasn't looked after well. We wanted to move her, but she passed away. Communication was really bad. It was hard to contact anyone or figure out who was in charge. The staff didn't seem to care when she showed signs of a heart attack. They just left her in bed. There were trays of food left near her bed that weren't cleared. She had bruises from being handled roughly. They didn't bathe her or do her laundry unless we complained.

"McKinley Place: Mixed Reviews for Assisted Living"
Our family visited McKinley Place in person. The rooms weren't very clean, and the whole place seemed old and needed fixing up. They only had studio apartments, which wasn't what we wanted at the time. Now I understand that extra rooms can make Alzheimer's patients anxious. Less is better for them, depending on their disease stage and whether they're alone. McKinley Place offered more care options than others, but it felt more like a nursing home.

"Great care and friendly staff at affordable prices"
The staff is really helpful and friendly. They also have good prices. When my mom fell and broke her hip, they made sure she got the care she needed. We’re happy with them.

"Great community with lots of activities and dedicated staff"
The staff at this community is working really hard. Like other places, they have some problems with staffing, but they are doing their best. They offer activities such as bingo, arts and crafts, bible study, movie night, and more for residents. They also just hired a new activities director, so we expect even more activities soon.

"Great tour, good meals, and enjoyable activities at McKinley Place"
The gentleman who gave us the tour was amazing and made our family feel much better. McKinley Place isn't a full skilled nursing facility, and we were worried about having to start this process over if our loved one needed more care. However, our doctor assured us that this is a great community. The meals and dining service are pretty good, though sometimes our loved one finds the meat a bit tough. But other times, he really enjoys it. The activities are okay, and our loved one particularly likes the Sunday morning church service. It is expensive, but it's similar to other places we checked out.

"Clean, friendly place with comfortable rooms and good service"
We picked McKinley Place because it was the cleanest option we saw. The staff are friendly and always willing to help, and it feels really nice when you walk in like you belong there. My dad’s room is the perfect size for him. Sometimes on weekends there aren’t as many staff, but we haven’t had any issues. I’d recommend it to others who are looking.

I enjoy living here. My apartment is at the end, and I have no complaints. I spend time in my room but also participate in activities. After three years, I've grown to like it and even recommended it to a friend.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The tour guide was nice and taught us a lot, but the initial tour was too long. There was a hallway that smelled bad. It's convenient that there are no elevators, but it felt more like a nursing home.

"A Happy Home for My Mother-in-Law"
My 93-year-old mother-in-law, who’s sharp as a tack, gets wonderful care at McKinley. The caregivers ensure her happiness, comfort, and regular hair appointments. The dining room food is excellent, and the building is lovely. She’s been there for 3 years and loves it!

"Disappointing Experience at McKinley Place Assisted Living Facility"
McKinley Place looks nice, but they're understaffed and disorganized. When you're inside, you realize they're short on staff and rely too much on corporate people to run things. Only two caregivers really seem to know what they're doing. Some of the staff act strangely sometimes (maybe they're on drugs). You can overhear loud conversations that are disruptive. It seems nice at first, but once your family member is there, you might wish you hadn't chosen it.

"At McKinley Place, First Impressions Hide Unprofessional Behavior"
McKinley Place looks nice and employees seem friendly at first. Once there, though, you see they're understaffed and lack nurses. They rely on corporate staff to manage things. Luckily, they have a couple of solid caregivers who run the show. Some staff members just seem off sometimes - like they might be on something. You can hear them having loud personal conversations, sometimes even arguing, on their phones. It all looks good when you first go in, but once your family member becomes a resident, you just might wish you had chosen somewhere else.

"Bright, Caring Assisted Living with Activities for Residents"
Wow, this place is super clean! The new director and marketing person really listened to my dad's needs. They've got awesome activities for residents. No memory care, but they use bracelets to track those with dementia. Plus, they're sprucing up the hallways and common areas. The dining room is so bright!

"McKinley Made Grandma Happier and Healthier Than Ever"
We needed to find a new home for my grandma and move her in just one week. After checking out several places, McKinley was the best by far. It was the cleanest and nicest place we saw. Everyone at McKinley was amazing! They took the time to meet with my grandma and help calm her down. They took care of every detail of the move and were incredibly supportive. I can't thank them enough! My grandma is now the happiest and healthiest she’s been in years.

"Active and Engaging Assisted Living with Dedicated Activity Directors"
This place keeps us busy with lots of activities. They organize trips out of McKinley every week, usually one or two. At 3:00, there's a fantastic social hour. Plus, there's a choir performing once or twice each month. They even plan outside activities like dining out and scenic trips. And for those interested, they offer religious services too. Our activity directors put in a lot of effort for us.

"Great Help and Friendly Service at This Assisted Living"
I’m really thankful for all the help from A Place For Mom. Without their assistance, I wouldn’t have known about an opening here. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the place is always clean. My brother hasn’t joined any activities yet, but my family and I have tried the food and think it’s pretty good. My brother thinks it’s okay, but not great. I’ve already told someone about this place and will recommend it to others if they need help finding a place.

We’ve had a great experience since our mom moved in. The staff understands her needs and treats her like family. The management is easy to talk to and listens carefully. They discuss solutions and plans before ending the conversation. Our mom enjoys the daily activities, and there’s always something she likes. Overall, we're very pleased and would recommend it to anyone who loves their mom.

Caring visitor that saw a lot
"Alert: Poor Hygiene and Missing Items at Assisted Living Facility"
I visited my dear friend at this facility quite often before they sadly passed away. Each visit never showed a clean bathroom, and the kitchen area was always disgustingly unclean. A simple swipe with a paper towel always resulted in a pitch black stain, which is just gross! Then, just after Christmas in 2015, the family relayed that there was jewelry missing. The management claimed they would look into it, but nothing came of it. That wasn't the only theft, either. Other items went missing and when confronted, the management simply chalked it up to residents suffering from dementia taking things, which is totally unacceptable! This living facility, quite frankly, is dismal. You should be wary if you choose to put a loved one in this establishment. Keep your eyes peeled and don't rely too much on the head of the facility. From what I've heard, others have had similar experiences. However, I would like to give credit where it’s due, The Nurse is fantastic!

"Great place for Mom, minor issues quickly resolved."
McKinley Place is really great for Mom and much better than her old place. She’s still getting used to it, but she seems a lot happier here. At first, there were some issues with the light fixture in the shower and a broken pipe in the bathroom, which I think should have been fixed before Mom moved in. However, they took care of it right away after I asked. Mom likes some of the food, but she also enjoys being able to eat in her room and make her own meals. It’s good to know she has both independence and help when needed. Overall, we're happy with McKinley Place and would recommend it.

"McKinley Place Faces Serious Issues, Arrests and Neglect Reported"
Check the Milwaukee Journal's article about McKinley Place to find out the real story behind what happens inside that facility. You should also tune in to Fox News 6 and watch the surprising news coverage about the same place. Three people were arrested for theft, medical errors occur on a regular basis, and the management is always making excuses for these issues. Basic necessities such as showers aren't provided, apartments aren't cleaned, and clean sheets are never supplied. It's truly disconcerting.

"Avoid McKinley Place: Careless, Dishonest, and Unresponsive"
McKinley Place was far from what it promised my family. They were more interested in billing us than taking care of our loved one. For a month, her bed sheets weren't changed, I even left a marking to prove it. She took one shower the first week she was there, but none after that. Her apartment was only cleaned right before we were leaving, even though they assured weekly cleanings. Her wander bracelet, which she had cut off, was never replaced despite their promises. Even worse, they admitted they didn't plan on doing so. The facility made lots of mistakes with her medicine, and when I pointed them out, the staff scolded me instead of fixing the issue. There was no manager or RN present when I wanted someone to solve these serious issues, yet the mistakes continued. The administrators didn't care about hearing any problems. At a residents' meeting, we all voiced our concerns about theft. The administrator just blamed the residents, saying they have dementia and happen to wander into each other's rooms. Yet, none of us bought that excuse. During the meeting, we also complained about unsanitary dishes and tablecloths. Laundry became a fiasco, too. Our loved one’s clothes were mixed up with others' three times. The administration denied this, yet clothes always returned shrunken. So, unless you wish to pay for a whole new wardrobe, you’re better off laundering them at home.

"A Cozy, Caring Place for Mom to Thrive"
Just moved Mom into McKinley Place this weekend. Our family is very happy with the place, how clean it is, and the staff. I like that it’s a smaller community with a cozy feeling. There are plenty of activities to keep Mom busy, and the activity coordinator really makes an effort to help everyone connect and feel comfortable. Mom seems to be settling in really well.

"Avoid McKinley Place at All Costs"
McKinley Place is the absolute worst place I've ever dealt with. I did a lot of research and thought it was fine. After a few days, my brother and sister were told to leave, even though McKinley Place is licensed for memory care. They seem to just want residents who don't need care. Adding to the problems, they were supposed to give our money back within a month. It's been over a month and we haven't gotten any money back.

"Great place with friendly staff and lots of activities"
The McKinley Place is really nice for my mother-in-law. The cleaning is great, and the staff is very friendly. We're not sure about the food and dining yet. There are lots of activities and outings, like shopping, that Mom can join if she wants. She’s pretty independent and doesn’t need much help. Her apartment is nice, with a cathedral ceiling, and the price is very reasonable.
