"Great Place with Fun Activities and Good Meals"
I think this is a good place for your loved ones. They do have some staffing shortages like other places. They offer lots of activities and trips, and the meals are good. It’s also very clean. There’s a big library, a salon, and even happy hour.

"Mixed Experience at New Perspectives Assisted Living Facility"
New Perspectives in Sun Prairie has good and bad points. The place looks nice and offers lots of things to do for those who don't need memory care. The food is usually good, and they try to keep everything clean. But, I can't say the same for the memory care part. They don't seem to have enough trained staff there. They told me they don't usually have CNAs because it's not like a nursing place. It's called "Assisted Living Memory Care," but sometimes it feels like they're not assisting much. Some of the staff don't pay attention to the residents. A few really care, but they're not around much. There's no one in charge on the unit, so sometimes things seem unorganized. Supervisors come in a few times a day, but otherwise, the staff are left on their own. They don't check on my parent enough, especially during the day. At dinner, they don't always cut up food for people who need it, which means some don't eat well. They don't have many activities for memory care residents, just a couple of days a week. On other days, there's nothing to do. More activities and engaging staff might help with behavior issues. It's hard to talk to the senior staff about problems because they're hardly ever around. If you have a problem, you might not get an answer unless you catch them in the hallway.

"Great place, but needs better management and housekeeping"
My mom has been here for about a year. We love that she can switch from independent to assisted living without moving. She has a nice apartment with one bedroom, a den, a full kitchen, and a private patio. The building is beautiful, and she likes her place. The activities are great, and the grounds are really nice. The residents and staff are friendly. Overall, we're very happy with the community. There are a few drawbacks. Communication with management is hard. Even though they're friendly and professional, it takes a long time to get a response. Some issues, like billing errors and appliance problems, need multiple follow-ups. Housekeeping services are inconsistent; sometimes they don't show up or don't clean much. When she moved in, there was no orientation, so we had to figure out many things on our own. A "welcome buddy" would be a nice service to offer. Despite these issues, we can overlook them because of all the other benefits.

"Friendly staff, personalized care, and great amenities"
The staff here are friendly and really pay attention to you. They call you by your name and know what you like in the dining area. There are activities if you want to join. You can use my name. They have OT and PT right here. There's even a small warm water pool.

"Nice facility with staffing issues; still recommended overall"
We picked New Perspective because they had space available quickly and the facility seemed nice with many amenities. However, not everything has worked out as promised. They've had staffing shortages, which is a common problem everywhere. Overall, I would recommend this place to others.

"Great food, lots of activities, and good value for money"
The food is really good, and there's a lot to choose from. They work hard to make sure residents get what they like, which is awesome. There are many activities available my dad enjoys swimming, happy hour, and bible study. It’s a good deal for what you get, though I heard prices might increase soon. I would definitely suggest this place to other families looking for assisted living.

"Careful Consideration Advised for Assisted Living Choice"
This place says you can grow old there, but if you live on your own, you’re really on your own. No one helps you unless you pay a lot more—like $1600 every month. And if you need just a little help, there’s nothing. Since the virus hit, they’ve been super strict, even more than they need to be. They won’t let your family in to help, not even for something small, unless you pay up for the expensive help. They’re so stuck on their rules, they wouldn’t even let someone’s grandma get help from her family to go to the hospital. She had to do everything herself, even though she was sick and could hardly breathe. That’s just not right. And when you come back from the hospital, they just leave you at the door. You’re supposed to manage all by yourself. Who treats people like that after a hospital visit? Think really hard before you pick this place for someone you care about. They seem more interested in making money than in what’s best for the people living there.

"Mixed Experience: Great Staff, Activities, But Inconsistent Food Quality"
The people who work here are really nice, and the building is new and clean. They have lots of things to do, which is fun. I almost gave it 5 stars, but sometimes the food isn't cooked right. Like, the pork can be too dry, and the carrots aren't even warm. But, they do have other food choices besides what they serve each night. So, it's still a really good place to be!

"Nice Facility with Big Fee"
I checked out this place for my Aunt. We didn't choose it because of the big, nonrefundable fee. The person in charge of marketing was super helpful and told us everything we needed to know. The place is really nice and the people working there are friendly. I think other families would like it too.

"Great Place, Just Not Within Our Budget"
We checked out New Perspective while searching for a place for my in-laws to live. The place is really welcoming. It’s spacious, has lots of fresh air, and is bright with sunshine. There’s a cozy courtyard too, and the person in charge is super friendly. My family members took a shine to it right away, but the cost was more than we planned for, so we didn’t go for it. But for sure, it’s a wonderful spot if it fits your wallet.

"Poor Care And Inadequate Support At Assisted Living Home"
The single bright spot about this place is its stunning surroundings. The inside looks nice and the staff does appear to be helpful; though, in truth, they aren't very supportive. The employees at New Perspective often leave my husband unattended, even with his dementia. They stay huddled on their phones, and there's no overnight nursing available no matter how many caregivers they have. Even though they attempt to get him enthusiastic about activities, if he puts up resistance, they immediately leave him be. My husband, a veteran with 70% disability, gets no personal attention. They were meant to bathe him regularly, but it wasn't until I assisted him that I learned he had no schedule and hadn't been bathed since August! Other residents lacking vigilant family members might be facing a similar situation. I also believe they don't provide enough food. He seems to be constantly hungry and there just doesn't seem to be enough for everyone to have a full meal. They won't assist him in changing for the night; sometimes, he’ll sleep in his day clothes since he can't manage to undress by himself. In the morning, they keep the blinds shut and the lights off. Looking beyond the surface stuff, the real issue is how they care for your loved ones. My husband’s health is deteriorating as they fail to assist him with movement and getting out more frequently. I honestly don't advise this place for anyone and will be shifting him elsewhere at the earliest.

I wish there was better nighttime security. The building locks up at 8pm, making it difficult to get in afterward. I enjoy the activities when I can participate, but my health is changing, so it's becoming harder. The food is good, and if there's something I don't like, they're quick to fix it or offer something else. I moved here to be closer to my children.

"Assisted Living: Mom Happy, Some Staff Changes, Overall Recommendable"
This place is really nice. It's well-maintained and Mom enjoys it here. She says the food is good and they give her plenty. Her apartment is cozy. They have stuff to do every day and even a place to get her hair done. Most of the people who work here are nice, but some change a lot. "Overpriced Services, Underpaid Staff, and Poor Standards at New Perspective!"
These folks are a bunch of scammers! They jack up prices and deliver lousy service. Worse, they’re cheating their staff by tampering with time-clocks so they don’t get paid for all their overtime. Basically, they’re short-changing not only their staff but cheating Wisconsin, and the IRS out of taxes and social security contributions. The facility itself doesn't meet acceptable standards, it's a classic case for an OSHA violation. Their staff also lacks the necessary qualifications required by Wisconsin - that’s not the employees' fault, but entirely on New Perspective! It seems like a team of shady individuals leading more innocent ones. I urge you to save your time, money, and, most importantly, protect your loved ones from unnecessary pain & suffering! Stay clear of any New Perspective establishment, particularly the one in Sun Prairie, WI!

My mom needed assisted living when she got dementia. She’s very active and loves doing many things, but her short-term memory loss made it hard for her to live alone. The Lighthouse is perfect for her. She has all the good things about independent living (even better!). She has a kitchen, living/dining room, bedroom, and bathroom. Best of all, she has a screened-in balcony! And it’s all for less money than just a bedroom and bathroom in other places. She gets the help she needs when she needs it, but she also has her privacy. The meals at Betty's Harbor taste good, but they aren't chopped up or supervised while being eaten. It seems like there's no set bathroom schedule, and you have to request the staff to help change your family member's dirty clothes.
