"Great staff and food, needs full-time nurse"
The food here is better than at the last place. We chose this community because the staff is amazing and they really seem to care about our loved one. Also, the price is better than other places. The caregivers do a good job giving the meds, but it would be nice if they had a full-time nurse to manage the medication better. I would recommend this place to other families.

"Safe and caring, but food needs improvement"
I think the caregivers range from really good to just okay, which is normal anywhere. The administrative staff have been very open to listening to us, and that's important. Overall, we feel our family member is safe there, and that's what really matters. She's not thrilled with the food, but they're working on it. They have a new chef and are updating the menu to be more senior-friendly. They also seem to offer a lot of activities.

"Enjoyable place but fails on promised services and housekeeping"
My loved one really enjoys living here. However, the community made a lot of promises about activities and services that they haven't kept. Also, the housekeeping and laundry services aren't being done correctly or returned in good condition.

"Great tour, but too expensive"
Our family took an in-person tour, and it was good. We saw everything inside. The place was very clean, well-kept, and organized. The only reason we didn't pick Oak Park was the cost; it was pretty high.

"Great Facility with Clean Rooms and Helpful Staff"
The facilities were new and very clean. It was friendly and ready to help. Unfortunately, there were no studio apartments available at the moment. The staff we saw didn’t seem very engaged. However, the care fees were more reasonable compared to other places we visited. We chose Oak Park Place as the best option for our loved one and are excited to move her there by the end of the month!

"Avoid This Assisted Living: Chronic Staff Shortage and Unresolved Issues"
My mom's been here half a year, but we're hunting elsewhere. Saying they don't meet her needs is an understatement. There's barely enough staff to cover basics. Look elsewhere for your loved one. We've tried for six months to sort things out with staff and management, but nothing gets fixed. We're ready to move my mom as soon as we can.

"Assisted Living Disappointment"
Our experience was deeply concerning. No systems in place, medication management issues, and a lack of respect. In an assisted living facility, we had serious reservations about the administrative level. There seemed to be no established systems, which raised HUGE concerns for us. The head of the organization, whose name I won’t mention, finally visited at the beginning of the month. We wondered what steps were being taken, especially for the remaining families who lacked an advocate. Fortunately, they hired an RN, before we left. She provided excellent care and respect for the residents, something we didn’t experience with the other nurse who’s still there. Unfortunately, there was total disrespect and disregard elsewhere. The PCAs (Personal Care Assistants) were caring and open to suggestions, which was a relief. However, we had additional concerns. The process for shower assistance, room and facility cleaning, meal supervision, and building/resident safety left much to be desired. We were told to “speak up,” and we did—repeatedly. But the response was always, “well that shouldn’t be,” without any actual change. Frustrated and anxious, we ended up doing much of the work ourselves to avoid retaliation against our family member. It’s disheartening to pay an astronomical amount of money and still feel like we’re doing all the heavy lifting. This is not a good place to be. We’d love to move on, but the sadness lingers. We hoped this facility would match the vision presented on their website, but something drastically changed along the way.

The helpers are nice and caring. The place looks comfy. Sometimes, there aren't enough staff. When our family shared worries, the bosses didn't listen.

"Negligence and Uncompassionate Care at Oak Park Facility"
My worst mistake ever was picking Oak Park. What a horrible excuse for a ‘memory care center.’ Not a single person in that entire place knows how to take care of someone with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. They've got tricks and excuses to cover up their errors and lies. When you first visit, they make it seem like it's heaven on earth, but it's more like a nightmare. Because of their carelessness, my loved one died and we're taking legal steps against them. From the unskilled, uncaring, short-staffed and ever-changing employees, the head of housing and main nurse were the biggest headaches during our time with Oak Park. They failed big time as leaders by providing no training for the ever-changing staff and ignoring any chances to improve the place. We told them and their bosses about many problems, but nothing ever got fixed. Their weak responses lacked heart and seemed sarcastic and heartless. It felt like they were bothered by our worries. Some of the issues our family member suffered were: dehydration, bad wound care, poor hygiene, unsafe and dirty bathroom use that resulted in open wounds and hospital visits, lack of cleaning as promised and paid for, sudden weight loss, barely any interaction with activities (they just stick them in a room with a TV and leave them alone), unsafe conditions caused by lazy staff, unreported falls, hospitalization for pneumonia due to not following treatment plans, and a total lack of communication, understanding, and care. This is how our loved one spent their last months. Their response? "It's just the disease, Alzheimer’s, they're old, it happens." I won't stop until this place is shut down and the people there get the love, care, and attention they should have.

"Not great: Nice facility, bad neighborhood, uncomfortable views."
We visited this place and thought it was nice, but the area around it isn't good. The windows of the people living there look out onto the town dump and the police station, which made us feel uneasy.

"Concerns Raised Over Care Staff's Attention to High-Risk Patient"
The people in charge knew what they were doing and did their best to cater to our needs. However, the people who were supposed to take care of my wife didn't seem to pay enough attention. We made it clear from the start that my wife was prone to falling a lot. Unfortunately, in the short time she was there, she fell five times. For one of these falls, one of the care-workers let her walk into an empty room by herself when she was unsettled and she ended up falling. This fall gave her a cut on the back of her head and a concussion, which led to her being in hospital for six days and spending three weeks in a rehab center.

"Great for independent residents, limited activities and staff interaction."
The facility is really clean, and the meals are good. The director is very attentive and professional, which I appreciate. However, there aren’t many activities for the residents, and it seems like the layout is better for someone who’s more independent. The staff doesn’t interact much with the residents, but overall, the environment is beautiful.

"Overpriced Facility Lacks Basic Care While Ignoring Resident Needs"
This pricey facility constantly hikes its costs, claiming they're not 'competitive.' They charge excessively for services that are either not provided or given ineffectively. It's not the fault of the employees, there's just no one tasked with cleaning. The apartments are exceedingly dusty, with half-inch layers of dust on bathroom floors and showers. Toilets are filthy and carpets need a good scrub. Laundry often gets mixed up among residents. My mom has gotten clothes from other people after using laundry services. The food is awful — it's unappetizing, stale, dry, and mushy. On top of that, it's mainly carbs with minimal protein, which means it isn't balanced or suitable for seniors. The person responsible for the diet plan needs to be better trained and actually care about their job. The new director doesn't bother to return phone calls and doesn't act on complaints or provide solutions. It's disheartening. Both the resident and their family are trapped. The resident is used to the place and wouldn't want to move. The higher-ups are aware of this and exploit the situation to make money. The facility's new director clearly cannot handle the pressures of the job. The cleaning and food services are subpar. Laundry gets confused between residents, and the food options are unsuitable for the elderly and unappetizing. The operation seems driven solely by profit. Also, there's a shortage of activities for the residents, and the staff doesn't encourage them to participate. They don't even bother to check my mom's mailbox, which I've been requesting for two years. Important mail and greeting cards go unopened. Administration doesn't attend to concerns or complaints actively. We need a place that advocates for the residents and their families. I wouldn't advise anyone to choose this place. There are better options out there, but sadly, we're stuck. Admin knows this and leverages it to their advantage.

"Meal Disappointment at Assisted Living Facility"
At the place where my mother-in-law lives, the food isn't great. I've been there with her for two years now, and every time we eat, it's not tasty at all. The meals don't even look good. My mother-in-law hardly eats anything. We think for the amount of money she pays, she should get fancy food.

"Unfulfilled Promises and Consistent Issues at Oak Park Place"
When we moved Dad to Oak Park Place, we expected certain things that never happened, making the move less enjoyable. Some blame games happened, but that's in the past. There's been a lot of staff turnover, but that's common. Low pay means employees aren't always there. We had problems with the cooks/chefs for a while, but it's gotten better. For what Dad gets, the monthly fee seems too high. It's gone up four times in less than three years. But it's easier to pay than to find something cheaper. My mother-in-law's place has the same problems with staffing, chefs, turnover, and prices. The director left months ago, and there's been no real change. Lip service but no action. If you want a nice, clean, and safe place, Oak Park Place fits the bill.

"Happy with the Amenities"
The assisted living unit is quite pleasant, with good closet space and a spacious bathroom. Unfortunately, it hadn't been cleaned as promised the baseboards were dusty, and the kitchen and bathroom drawers were not clean. On the positive side, the leasing agent was friendly and informative, although there was minimal discussion about billing and payment dates. Overall, it's a nice residence with plenty of common areas and friendly residents and staff.

"Communication Needs Improvement at Oak Park Place Wauwatosa"
This place, Oak Park Place Wauwatosa, could do better with talking. The workers and families don't talk well. People keep leaving their jobs here, and because of that, things don't run smoothly. The staff is friendly, but sometimes they don't take the lead with the residents. Mom says the food is good, and the place is neat and tidy. I just want to see them talk better.

"Concerns Grow at Oak Park Place, Leadership is Missing"
Oak Park Place seemed great when my family member first moved in. Now, just nine months later, I'm worried. The person in charge of housing is gone, they fired the person responsible for activities, and they've sidelined the new doctor from Bluestone. There's no clear leadership. The nurse tries her best, but she has way too much to handle. It's a mystery as to why they've yet to find a new director. There are so many new faces among staff and patients. I wouldn't suggest this place to others.

"Wonderful care and clean, welcoming environment"
Oak Park Place has been amazing for my 87-year-old friend. The caregivers in the memory care section are fantastic and really caring. She went from being very weak and sleeping all the time to being a lively 'walker.' Everyone at Oak Park is friendly and makes you feel like you're part of the family. Another great thing is how clean the place is. It smells and feels like a 5-star hotel! I’m really happy with Oak Park Place and highly recommend it to anyone.

"Outstanding Care and Friendly Atmosphere at Oak Park Place"
My parents have been at Oak Park Place for 14 months, and we are thrilled with the care they receive. They take daily medications, and we don’t have to worry about them forgetting or taking too much. Mom loves Wednesdays for her hair appointment. On Thursdays, they enjoy church and many activities. My sister and I visited many places, but nothing compared to Oak Park Place in friendliness, cleanliness, and safety. The staff is always ready to help and treats my parents like family. It’s comforting to know there’s a nurse available for any needs. If you're searching for an assisted living facility, make sure to check this one out. Thank you, Oak Park Place, for making our lives easier by keeping my parents safe, happy, and enjoying their later years.

"A Great Place for Peace of Mind"
My parents have been living at Oak Park Place for over a year, and we’re all really happy with it. They’re safe and well cared for. Their medication is given to them daily, and they’ve made new friends to hang out with. They can have their laundry done there, but my mom still prefers to do it herself. The staff is friendly and quick to respond to any questions or needs we have. We had to move them in quickly, and they made the process smooth and pleasant. I feel better knowing they’re in good hands there.

"Attractive Facility but Poor Service and Care"
I had been assured that comprehensive cable and cleaning services were included in the monthly cost. However, only basic channels were given and our local PBS was not part of it. They then provide a phone number to upgrade the service. There's no set schedule for housecleaning either. A worker came once to clean after I raised a fuss. Only dusting and vacuuming were done. The bathroom hasn't been tidied since she arrived, which was 3 weeks ago. My family member fell once when the caretakers were busy chatting amongst themselves. They paid no heed to her calls for assistance. She should be receiving more attention, but this hasn't been the case. They often forget to assist her with meals. The number of aides is frequently insufficient. Once there wasn't any milk for her morning cereal. Another instance - no coffee as someone failed to prepare it. Some of the staff seem to lack proper training. She cannot consume some of the food on the menu. The manager promised a meeting with a dietitian but it's been over 2 weeks and this has not taken place. The place is visually appealing. We never anticipated such a multitude of issues. I am left feeling unsure of alternatives. Relocating my relative is not ideal, but if conditions do not improve, I might be compelled to do so. I am practically living there now just to ensure she is alright. We are paying extra for assistance with dressing, bed-making, and escort to meals. Today, however, no assistance came. An aide responded to her call saying they were busy but would attend to her soon. But she never showed up, leaving my relative to fend for herself despite being at a high risk of falling, and that is supposedly why we are paying for higher care, which has not been delivered. My relative is in a state of distress, as am I.
