Tender Reflections Deforest

"Beautiful facility but staffing changes raised concerns"
The facility is beautiful and very clean. I liked the wide hallways and open spaces. The bathroom was easy to use. The country setting with southern exposure was nice. The head chef had experience in the restaurant business, so I knew the food would be good. I chose Koselig because they had a nurse/director, but she was let go shortly after my mom moved in. This was a bit worrying because it seemed like no one was in charge, which was a downside.

"Great care overall, with room for staff improvement at Koselig House"
My Dad used to live at The Koselig House. it was amazing, no doubt about it. However, some of the other staff could have been more caring and friendly. A few even complained about being overworked and questioned why we brought Dad there with covid, even though we didn’t know he had it. It was a tough situation for everyone. After I explained things and asked them to spread the word, the situation improved. I get that it’s hard to be overwhelmed. Overall, I would recommend The Koselig House to others. I also really appreciate that they let us pay privately for a shorter time, which took a huge burden off my Mom and eased her stress during Dad's final days. Thanks!

"Improvements Needed at The Koselig House"
The Koselig House has some room for improvement. Staffing shortages, limited fresh vegetables on the menu, and no communication with families are key issues.

"Slow Response Times on Weekends"
Sometimes, when you press the button to leave the facility, it can take a while for someone to respond, especially on weekends.

"Poorly Staffed Assisted Living Facility"
Think twice before choosing this place for your loved one. They only have about 2 staff members per shift to care for 20 residents. There's no housekeeping or laundry staff. The hardworking employees do their best, but family members should visit during off times to see how things really work.

"Irresponsible Facility Management Leads to Mom's Unattended Injuries"
My sister, she, never mentioned the time when our mother took a nasty spill from her wheelchair, and suffered a broken C-1 vertebra - the first one right below the skull. Where was the staff at the residence? I won't forget the time I went to visit her around a week before Easter. I noticed a big bump on her forehead while I was getting her favorite Popeye's chicken. According to her, she had a fall from her bed and hit her head on the nightstand. When I asked a facility staff about the bump, she was clueless. Even after checking my mom's medical records, it was clear that nobody had taken her to get checked. They never even thought to give my sister or me a call, all the staff could do was shrug. It's heartbreaking to say that exactly four months after breaking her neck, my mom passed away.

"Comfortable Care Facility with Tasty Food and Spacious Areas"
This is my first time at a place for my wife, who has Dementia. The room feels cozy with lots of sunlight. The staff is nice and helpful, but sometimes they're short-staffed. There's a bit of confusion with the management due to staff changes. The food is really tasty. The open common areas are spacious, so they never feel crowded.

"Understaffed Facility with Terribly Incompetent Staff!"
Steer clear of this place! They don't have enough workers, and the ones they've got are seriously awful. It honestly seems like all you need to get a job there is to be alive.

Very Disappointing
"Assisted Living Facility Neglects Residents and Staff for Profit"
This place stinks! The people who own it only care about money, not the folks who live here or work here. They got rid of some jobs and now want the workers to do more stuff for less money. They're also letting in too many people who need a lot of help but not hiring enough staff to take care of them. The bosses hardly ever show up, and nobody's keeping an eye on things except the owner who says he's watching everything on camera like a big brother. This place is falling apart fast! Don't pick this place—there are way better ones out there!

"Neglect and Poor Service at Assisted Living Facility"
I'm sorry, but I have a pretty bad review to share about this place. They didn't provide the memory care my mom needed. Once, she fell off her bed and hit her head and they didn't bother to call my sister or me, or to take her to immediate care. Another time she fell from her chair, I found out she was in the hospital from the hospital's ER, not from them. She stayed in the hospital for more than a week with a big lump on her forehead. The meals were an issue too. Residents couldn't choose what they ate and the amount was not generous. My mom doesn't eat fish yet that was all they served one evening. Also, her Nook got stolen.
