The Waters of Oak Creek (Opening Spring 2019)

"Great memory care but issues with staff and amenities."
The memory care staff is fantastic. However, I wasn't as impressed when Dad was in assisted living. It was good that he stayed in the same apartment, but we faced staffing changes while moving him, so I had to check in frequently to make sure he was getting the care he needed. Dad has been at The Waters for about a year, and we’ve already had three medical directors. I hope the new one will stay longer. The facility director is nice, but sometimes it feels like he passes my questions to others. The new head chef at the restaurant serves a lot of chicken. I'm not sure how much fresh fruit Dad gets, so I bring some for him. Memory Care lacks a microwave and ice maker, and the small refrigerator in his room makes the freezer almost useless. We picked The Waters for its location. The admission person is great. The decor is bright and friendly, and the concierge staff are welcoming and helpful.

"Decent Facility with Accessibility and Service Issues"
This place was the only one we found that was wheelchair-friendly. It had things like a shower you can roll into, sinks and laundry machines that are easy to get under, and a closet you can roll right up to. If you need a place that’s easy to get around in with a wheelchair, there aren’t many choices. You might have to build your own place, but we didn’t want to do that. So, we picked this spot because it had a few (3 out of 120) apartments that were pretty good for accessibility. We still had to pay more to make some things, like closets, easier to use. If you’re really in need, like we were, you can make it work here. Some of the workers are super nice, and the food and dining service are great. Just know that you might end up paying extra for stuff they say is included, like Wi-Fi and TV, which aren’t always working right. Some folks have to pay for extra storage space, while others get it for free. But the location is really great.

I'd suggest this one. It’s the best I’ve seen for my loved one.

"Happy with care and staff's patience, fewer residents here"
I chose this place because it had space and fewer people. We’re really happy with the care my loved one gets, and the staff is very patient.

"Staff Promises, But Fails to Deliver Transparency"
The staff isn't honest. They promise to follow up, but we have to push to get answers.

"Great new facility, improving communication, and convenient location"
This is a great and newer community. They are still working on improving communication with families and residents. The location is handy for shopping.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"
This place is near the Drexel shopping area and always bustling. Although it's not too far, we have better options closer by. I've informed that I won't be scheduling a tour for now since I haven't visited the facility.

"Great care, needs better memory care training and Medicaid certification"
We chose The Waters of Oak Creek because they supported our family during COVID, which was amazing. My mom and I took care of my dad, and they let us visit. The place is new and offers independent living, so my mom could move there too. They care for my dad well, but they need better training for memory care. My dad doesn’t like the food, but they try to meet his needs. They are working on getting Medicaid certified, so we hope that happens soon. I would recommend this place to others.
