"Assisted Living Facility Dangerously Negligent, Lacks Proper Communication"
Absolutely do not put your loved one at risk with this assisted living home. The facility has severe communication issues, which can be dangerous. We noticed this the moment our mother moved in. She was served meals containing foods we had listed as her allergies several times. Thankfully, we had a camera installed in her room which helped us manage some problems. Whenever we called the facility to schedule appointments or shuttle services for mom, the information would never be passed along to other staff members. Even when our mother needed to fast for an upcoming surgery and we had written a sign on her door, called at 5am to remind them, they still woke her up for breakfast. Also, the elevities often break down, and our mom's room was on the second floor. The worst part was getting a call in the middle of the night, telling us our mother wandered into another building and wouldn’t be allowed to stay unless one of us could be present to watch her every night from 10 pm to 6 am. Apparently, they don't have enough staff members working the nights shift. We had already explained during our initial tour that our mother suffers from sundown syndrome and often woke up to watch TV before going back to sleep. "Great care, meals, activities; needs single point of contact"
I would definitely recommend Elison of Maplewood for your loved ones. They have continuous care, wonderful meals, and lots of activities for residents. These things really stand out to me. The only concern is not having one point of contact to talk to about my loved one. It would be nice if one person knew all of my loved one's history. Some activities include Bible reading, puzzles, crafts, walking, exercise, field trips, bingo, and more for the residents to choose from. They also have transportation for the residents to use.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Some of the staff are really nice and caring, but others need to improve the food quality. There are plenty of activities, but unfortunately, some staff members don't wear masks.

"Great Job Despite Challenges, But Meals Need Improvement"
I think our nutritionist has done a great job running Maplewood despite tough challenges like COVID-19, building issues, and grumpy residents. Our meals could be better!
