"Issues Persist Despite Complaints: Poor Management and Maintenance Standards"

We've had many problems, from wrong bills to missing clothes. People we don't know enter rooms and items vanish. The bathroom and room are dirty, so family cleans weekly. Management is really bad. We've told them about bugs and ants, but they're still there. We've complained about a broken window since . The carpet is so old and dirty it won't clean. They're supposed to provide transportation for medical appointments, but twice we've had to make other arrangements. It's sad that there are no proper medical staff despite the high cost.

"Clean, Convenient Studios; Staff Helpful for Singles"

The apartments are like studios, more for one person than for a couple living together. They were clean, and the staff were nice to deal with.

"Overall Good Facility with Issues in Food and Communication"

It’s easy to get started here, and the staff were very helpful with that. However, it can be tough to get answers about certain things. Everyone has their own job, so finding the right person can be a bit tricky. But overall, it’s been a decent place for her. The main issue is the food. She often complains because they use a lot of tomatoes and acidic ingredients that upset her stomach. The food also lacks seasoning. It would be nice if they had some seasoning packets for those who can handle them. The cost is high, as it is with most places like this, but she enjoys being there. She likes the activities, such as games, outings, and gardening. Her biggest problem is with the food preparation. She is quite independent and is receiving good care. I appreciate how the staff makes her feel valued and gives her small tasks, like picking up bingo cards, which makes her feel important.

"Friendly staff, but facility may be smaller than expected"

It’s tough to get a good sense from just a virtual tour. I think this place might be a bit smaller than where we chose in the end. Everyone we met during the tour was friendly and helpful.

""Elmcroft Uses Memory-Impaired Residents for Profit Despite Family's Wishes""

Our family member lives at Elmcroft in Martinsburg, WV. It's clean and the day-to-day staff is nice. However, despite knowing our relative has had memory problems for years, they won't move them to a memory care center. In 2018, they even put a lock on the front door because they were worried that our relative was going to leave without permission. This goes against Elmcroft's claim that our relative is able to make their own decisions. We've tried to move our family member closer to us, but management keeps blocking us. They say our relative can make decisions for themselves, but really, they're just using this as a sneaky way to keep our relative—and their insurance money—at their place. Despite the good work of the employees, we're upset by management's actions and think the place only deserves one star.

"No Memory Care for Alzheimer's Patients; Rating Given Without Visit"

This Elmcroft doesn't offer memory care like other locations. I rated it without visiting or knowing prices. The lack of memory care was a big concern for me.

"Wonderful experience with caring staff, great food, and activities"

I am very happy with my mom's experience at Elmcroft! The staff has gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome and at home. The food is great—the chef even called her to ask about her food preferences and how to make things better. She can get her hair done on Thursdays for a good price and have some medical tests done there. There’s also medical transport for doctor’s visits. There are many activities, like ice cream socials and a Super Bowl party. Mom has a big, private room with a large bathroom, featuring a walk-in shower, shower chair, and hand-held showerhead for easy bathing. This service is fantastic. I am truly thankful!

"Caring Staff Makes Elmcroft a Great Place for Alzheimer's Care"

I think Elmcroft Assisted Living is a very caring place. My husband has Alzheimer's, and it's become too hard to manage at home. The staff seems to genuinely care about him and appreciate him, which is very important to me.

"Looked like a welcoming spot"

We visited this place while deciding on care for our loved one. It looked nice, but seemed more like a hospital than what she needed. We thought a cozier atmosphere would be better.

"Elmcroft: A Highly Recommended Assisted Living Facility"

Elmcroft was a great find for my dad's new home. The caregivers are awesome, and the place is well taken care of. The staff and managers are super friendly and helpful. Even though my dad can be a handful, they handle him well. I'd suggest this place to any family looking for respectful and knowledgeable care.
